Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hello! We got married at DRC last month and we opted for the "fake" cocktail hour and used the money towards our dinner. It worked out great because all of our guests were on the beach anyway watching us take pictures. We took pictures really close to the beach bar so everyone stood there and drank and watched us take pics.

We had our reception on the deck so I cant really speak for seaside grill, but I don't think the dance floor is needed anywhere escept if you were to have your reception on the beach. We had it only because I liked the way it looked in pictures. I saw a reception while we were there on the pool terrace that didn't have a dance floor and everyone was still having a blast!

The 1 kid at our reception who was 11 did not count towards our number.

I have seen some threads here saying people did not think it was worth having the cocktail hour since guests can go to any bar and hang out while pics are being taken...I am looking for more feedback on that.

Also, we plan on using the Mexican Music Trio for the ceremony... and a DJ for the reception. Is a dance floor necessary at Seaside Grill? Or can we just dance in a regular area?

Are kids counted into the guest count at the wedding?

Does anyone have the menu choices from the wedding coordinator? The gold menu comes with our package but we have no idea what it entails since it is not in the wedding guide.

TIA! Many more questions to come...

I have two questions 1. What time does the barracuda beach stay open til? 2. Is the bride responsible to pay for her bridesmaids hair & make up?
The beach bar stays open until 6pm. We just got back and had an amazing time! The bartenders at that bar are really fun! I didn't end up paying for my bridesmaids hair and make-up. I had already gotten them other gifts so I asked them if they wanted to get theirs done instead of requiring it. They both said yes and paying for it was no problem!

Has anybody gotten officially married before Mexico and then just had the symbolic ceremony there? This is what my fiance and I plan on doing as the Mexico marriage requirements are a PIA!  That being said we don't plan on telling our guests about this. ..does the ceremony appear to be the real deal?

We did! We got married on the saturday before we left at our church and then left for Mexico on Thursday. I think most people do it like this from what I hear. Most of our guests knew that it we did that, but if we didn't tell them, they probably wouldn't have known. The officiant is a minister and you even sign a document there during the ceremony.

Nope, no credit! But you really are getting so much more for you money if you upgrade. If you calculate everything you get it's well over the $3000 you're paying. I calculated everything out before deciding which package to go with.

I know the basic wedding package that is $999 is included with the 7 night stay... we are upgrading to the top of the line package..do they give you any sort of credit towards anything since you are foregoing the free one? TIA! This site is so helpful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
