Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Hey! Yeah I was informed a little while ago that there is us, you guys, AND one more wedding... But I don't know when or where :/ I have only heard back from Gina twice since the holidays but I believe I have everything set up with her. I finally heard back from our DJ (Mauricio) and he told me he had all of our music so fingers crossed..... It's coming so quick!! Can't wait to see you guys down there :)

Hey Rach! I am actually in the middle of trying to decide where to hold our cocktail hour but don't worry, we will not have it at the South beach bar, especially if you and your party plans on having it there because I know our weddings are essentially at the same time so it would definitely overlap. :)  We're planning on having it on the North Beach immediately following our ceremony so no worries! Did you say there are 3 weddings on the 28th?!?!?! I thought there was a rule at Dreams that they only hold 2 weddings per day... My co-ordinator has been so slow getting back to me since the CHristmas holidays, have you been having the same issue? I saw you were asking about DJs, we have Jorge I believe? I haven't seen anyone else post comments about him so I sure hope he works out. We are bringing down an iPod will all of the songs we want played as a back-up, in case the DJ doesn't have everything, eventhough we'll be sending a playlist beforehand. I hope your plans are coming together perfectly, I can tell you're extremely organized so it's all going to turn our beautifully! :)

Ok, yes, a little sad. crybaby2.gifOk, very sad.

The amount of guests I thought were coming, are no longer. So Im literally going to change just about everything. ugh.

Since only 20 people (or less) are coming we are now looking to just have dinner after the reception at El Patio. My fiance doesnt want to spend the $15 per person to book the reservation. Im just afraid were not going to be able to all sit together.

Any feedback? Anyone know of a anyone who went through this?

You can also email me: [email protected]

hang in there! less people are coming to mine than expected also but it happens. anyway i think if that is your wedding reception you are making a very big mistake by not making sure you have a space in a restaurant. what if there isnt enough seats, or there is soemthing else going on that night? i also think you can request a closed off section which will be nice rather than be in the middle of others eating... its still your wedding !! :))

Hi Eyeball17,

I'm also getting married on the 18th.  Ceremony & cocktail hour at North Beach, Reception Pool Deck.

I have contacted them via phone...it took me two tries but I got someone on the phone.  I called because they charged me twice for my deposit.  At that point it didn't matter who I spoke to.

I'm happy to announce everything has been going very smoothly so far with my planning.  Granted I'm not being too picky and I want to focus on having a great time vs. the little details.  I just went dress shopping for the bridesmaids this weekend and it was great.  One and done!  The first dresses they tried on.  On top of that they were guest dresses in the right color, they were able to take them home that day!

You had the mexican trio play for your ceremony?  When exactly did they play - as the guests were arriving and being seated, and then for the procession and when you walked in etc?  Did they play for a bit afterwards for the champagne toast and cocktail or would that be too much time?  I was saying earlier that I would like to get some pictures after the ceremony on the beach with the mexican trio like Savs did, but I also like the idea of them playing for the ceremony...  just curious about how the timing all worked out.

Thanks!

Hi Lori,

I rented the sound system. The wedding coordinator suggested that I have the Mexican trio start playing as soon as the groomsman and bridal party started to enter. That way the guests would know that the wedding was starting. I gave the wedding coordinator a few mp3s of music that would play while my guests were seated. Yes, they did play a bit afterwards for the champagne toast. We did not have a cocktail. Since we had over 25 people, we decided to trade in the cocktail and use the money toward our dinner reception, which we extended for an hour. You can also get some photos with the Trio after the ceremony. They will stay around for that, make sure you ask them before they leave. They will definitely do that. Let me know if you have more questions. Happy to help! :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
