Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering if anyone has anyone has any good advice. I'm really stressing out about informing my guests of the rates for the hotel. We are working with a recommended travel agent but even then, they are asking $1,064 per person in a garden view room for 5 nights not including flight. That just seems like a lot to ask! Any insight would help :) Thanks

Hello Ladies

Odd question, What time will the groom start getting ready for the ceremony?

Our ceremony is at 4.00pm

Our guests are all staying in a different resort so he is going to stay at their resort for the night before the wedding and my bridesmaids are going to stay at DRC for the night with me

So i need to know what time he should be back at DRC to start getting ready

Hope you can Help!

Good Morning/Afternoon girls,

Are any of you having a legal ceremony out there? We are and i have just had an email back from the Mexican consulate saying that i need my birth certificate to be apostilled at the Foreign office. This is ok for me because i am not getting married untill August but just incase you didnt realise apparently you have to do this for using UK documents in a different country if you want it to be legal! Apparently some birth certificates may already have the stamp on but i only dug mine out at the weekend and realised it doesnt!!! No-one at any stage has told me about this so just letting you know if you are having a legal wedding to look out for it.

That is a lot.  We originally quoted our guests $544 for a limited time if they reserved with $50.  It did go up but not more than $670 for 5 nights.  Granted, ours is in July.  Your are doing it in their high season.  Just remember that the people who really want to go, will go.  I suggest making a wedding website and putting the info on there.  Ours is in my signature.  Feel free to take a look.  :)

We got married a couple weeks ago on May 18th and we had an awesome experience.  We got there on a Wednesday and our wedding was that Friday.  We met with Yamina the day we got there to go through everything again.  We were emailing back and forth a lot a couple weeks before.  I brought my table runners and chair sashes but did everything else through the resort.

We went with DJ Mauricio Neri and he was awesome! He also did our music for the ceremony.  We met with him on Thursday afternoon and we gave him a list of songs for the ceremony and he also took good notes on his computer.  We also have him a list of songs we wanted to play at the reception and then just told him to play similar music when that list ran out.

The two nights before our wedding it rained so at 3 on our wedding day Yamina came in and asked if we wanted to move the reception to the ballroom.  I couldnâ€t decide because I didnâ€t want to move it inside but I also didnâ€t want it to rain.  I told her to go ask Luke (my husband) and that he could make the final decision.  He wanted it outside so we decided to keep it outside.  I am so happy that we did because the weather was perfect.  It was windy but it didnâ€t rain.  The following 3 nights the weather wasnâ€t good so we got really lucky!

The service at the resort was amazing and we originally booked the honeymoon suite and they upgraded us to the Master suite which was awesome.  Here is my slideshow.

Also, if anyone is interested, my husband condensed our wedding video so he could put it on facebook and show it to our friends and family so here is the link to that.

The first part of the video is a little cheesy because it is a generic but the rest of it is great.  The first song that they are playing (when everyone is first getting there)we didnâ€t pick but the rest of the songs  are the songs that we picked during the times that they played them.  The video was just running a little slow on my computer but it might be my internet connection.  The actual video runs smooth.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
