I said I didn't want a bridal shower, and no one tried talking me into it, which is fine. But I can't help wondering what I might be missing! I can't seem to get my friends and family in the same place anyway, even once we get to Hawaii, everyone is coming in at different times, so there's really no good time. But what am I missing out on? What is the point of a bridal shower, anyway? Is there anything I would usually get at a shower that I need to get myself?

Im not having a shower either, or at least not that I know of. My friends and family are scattered across canada and the US so it ws impossible to all get together. Plus everyone is already travelling to mexico for me, and 15 of my gfs travelled to vegas for my bachelorette. The purpose of a bridal shower is basically to celebrate the marriage with gifts. We don't want people giving us gifts, plus we live together and have everything we already need. Thats my two cents!

I think the only thing you'd be missing out on is the petit fours :P

I didnt have a shower and I lived to see another day. I dont feel I missed out on anything, but really its all personal preference. Im not much of a girly get-together kind of person. That being said, there's nothing wrong with wanting a shower. It doesnt necessarily have to be a "traditional' shower either.

I think if you have everything you need then showers aren't really necessary. Maybe if you want you could organize a girls lunch when you get to Hawaii, no gifts just good times!

The only special event I planned for Hawaii is a trip to Oahu to visit Pearl Harbor with my uncle! Not your typical shower, LOL!!!

I am not having a shower either. I live with my FI and we pretty much have everything needed for a home. I dont feel like I am missing out of anything. I felt bad having people buy us things when either they have paid all this $$ to attend my wedding and/or forcing people to buy us things when they aren't attending my wedding.

I'm having a shower in my hometown and a bachelorette/lingerie shower in Chicago with my friends who live in the midwest. My bridesmaids planned them - I think mostly because I'd given them showers and bachelorettes in the past. I think the point of a shower initially was to honor and celebrate the bride and help her fill her home with what she needed. Now that many of us live together before getting married or are single, self-sustaining women, we have much of the "stuff" that was reserved for showers. I think it's also a nice opportunity to get your friends and family together if you can.

I'm excited for the lingerie shower - that's stuff I wouldn't buy for myself, most likely!

Do you have another time you are getting your bridesmaids together?

A lingerie shower would've been awesome! I got myself one special thing, but there's so much cute stuff! Now I want some panties that say "Bride" or "I do" in sequins!

It's so hard, because everyone's coming in on different days, but I think my bm's and myself will be all there on the first night, before most of my family arrives. There's not much to do on the island, I guess we'll just make a batch of Mai-Tai's and hit the beach!
