April 2010 Brides

Recommended Posts

Wow!!! I took a BDW break and the April 2010 thread is so popular!!! It's gonna take me a while to get caught up to speed, but in the meantime I hope everything is going well with everyones planning... As for me, I haven't done anything wedding related, just have been trying to transition back from student mode to full-time employee mode again along with searching for a new house. I will try not to stay away so long again, I missed you ladies!!!

Thank you all for the pick-me-up. It's much appreciated and you're right, I shouldn't stress so much about the similiarities. It's just hard to not think about it with the fact that my wedding is pretty much the next one any of my family members will be at. I just gotta shake it off!

Echo- I went horseback riding during my cruise not too long ago and my crotch hurt like hell. The idea is nice but I don't think I'll ever get on a horses back ever again LOL! As far as the dresses are concerned they're already a diff color and the style will be different as well... at least thats one thing I'm not worried about..

Di- Congrats on the house!! It'll feel even better once you start decorating and making it yours. FI and I just had our new hardwood floors refinished/sanded... now we're homeless for a week bc of the drying time and smell. The speech idea is funny, but they can win the baby race lol. And nice job on sending the invites!!

Michele- thanks for the reassurance about the Moon Palace, it made me feel a lot better knowing that you've been there and can vouch for the place :) And yes, I did win a photography contest (I forget sometimes lol)...

Erin- I forgot that you were from Cincy..the wedding was in Mason, are you around there? that area has changed so much since i lived there, long, long ago... Love the centerpiece idea but sorry I can't help with the type of flower!

Christina- good luck house shopping!! and how's the transition from student to full time employee going? i bet you miss going to school now that you're working huh?

OMG, 1 more hour til I see my dreSS!!!

michele, i LOVE the magnolia! i don't even care if that's the exact flower, it would go perfect with the other ones that i'm using! thank you SOOO much!

tonya, i am working at a client in mason right now!! i grew up in west chester (and my parents still live there) which is right next door to mason and i live in ross which is basically in the middle of nowhere! i went to miami university too (hence eb'redhawk')... when did you live around here?! good luck with your dress tonight!!

christina, good luck with everything you've got going on! can't be an easy transition AND you're trying to find a house?! you are a brave girl! keep us posted on how the house search is going!

yayyyy di getting your keys!! no more inspection/closing/home buying craziness.. now you get to decorate your new home! and also a huge score on the invites! can't wait to see those bookings rack up for you!

michele, there is a reason i'm not getting married at home!!! :) i laughed out loud when i read that.. but i completely agree! ohio vs. mexico.. tough call!

i completely forgot about tonya winning that free photog too... hello lady, you are so set!!

soooo i practiced my centerpieces this weekend and they were super blah... i'm a clean lines kinda gal and they just looked messy. i found a picture of what i really want them to look like but can't for the life of me figure out what kind of flower this is (it would be perfect with my white/black/pink theme). anyone have any ideas? even the lady who's doing my flowers didn't know!

also, i finally went to my parents' house and took pictures of my OOT bag things that are over there. i'll post those either tonight or tomorrow!
I was going to do the exact same centerpiece, until I realized how much they would weigh.. so I made something totaly different. Let me know what you guys think be honest. It's very light on top of it all, I got the sets at the dollar store, so each centerpiece will cost $6. (But does it look real fake?)

Just about spit my drink out giggling over this!! I guess in my mind I was thinking the old fashioned side-saddle approach since you'll be in your dress and everything but I guess I could have said that!! LOL! And to ride off I pictured a bride sitting sideways across new hubbies lap... and just now realized that my FI wouldn't necessarily go for that either! So yes! Go with the carriage and forget any ideas about your guests thinking the two weddings are alike!! hahaha!

I LOVE those blue & purple together flowers!! Have you tried a vase with just clear beads in it, or maybe just a few blue ones? I wonder if it might make your flowers stand out on their own a bit more without competing. I always find it's the stem on those flowers that are most difficult to make them not look fake so I think you've done a great job having them hidden away inside the vase the way you've shown them! They're going to look beautiful!!! Good job finding a light alternative!!!

omg, i lived in west chester when i was there!! you know the main street where all the stores are now? well, i lived a block away from krogers. did you go to hopewell elementary? that's where i went before moving to nj..

tracy, try the clear stones. i have to agree that they will make your flowers pop even more in color.

Okay this is silly, but since we're all April brides I'm sure you can relate (especially doblauvelt!)...

In exactly 7 months today I'm getting married!!!!!!!!!!

I felt the need to make the declaration since it's the first "x-months to the date" moment, having just secured our exact date a few weeks ago :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
