How Do You Know When You're Depressed?

Recommended Posts

Kathy i'm sorry your feeling so down. I dont know much about depression but where did you take the test online? was it a reputable test? the only reason i'm asking is if it is a reputable site you were on, maybe you shouldnt wait a few weeks but maybe you should call a doctor now. it wouldnt hurt to talk to a doctor and see what he/she says.

I am so sorry to hear all that you are experiencing. I think the girls gave great advice as usual but would add seeing a therapist first may be good first before being prescribed an anti-depressant or maybe obe could overlap the other. I say that becasue sometimes it takes talking thru things and determining the root cause which helps turnaround our perspective and how we make a choice to view our situations..KWIM? I hope you pull through this soon. Big Hugs..

This may be a strange question but do you have anything to look forward too you spent many months planning your wedding setting up your home with your wedding gifts and showing everyone your wedding pics.Maybe now everything has gone flat. You sound to me like you have post wedding blues thats why everyone says oh youll be having a baby soon you get to start the planning again!!!! so beware that one hahah. What is your hubby saying to you maybe you could plan something a break away in a few months.I would try that first before going down the anti depressant route cos you cant just come off of them.Hope this is just a blip and you soon feel yourself once more xxx

Oh Kathy I'm so so sorry to hear that you're feeling this way.

First of all (((BIG HUGS))) to you.

Second, I definitely think you should see a doctor. I think its better to take the plunge, talk to someone and get their professional opinion then it is to wait and risk getting worse.

I can't even tell you how many times I've thought the same thing. How do you know? I know some of my daily symptoms feel that way.. but am I just stressed? Will it pass? I really feel your pain and you're not alone. Depression runs in my family so I've seen so many sides of it. I ended up having to go to the doctor because I started having horrible panic attacks. So far we're only treating my anxiety with a low but consisten doseage of xanax and I'm feeling better overall but not completely. But the important thing is- I thought to myself WHY IN THE WORLD didn't I do this sooner. I think I was embarassed but I've come to realize that it's more important to take care of yourself to be the best you can be then it is to hide behind a fake smile.

And about your specific stressors- just try to remember and tell yourself that it will all pass eventually. That's what I'm working on right now with a bunch of stuff going on in my life bringing me down and making me feel a bit stuck. Things do have a way of working themselves out in the end.

Hang in there sweetie.. I hope things get better and the doctor can help.

In the meantime, I'm here if you need to talk or vent or cry.

roo - Thanks for your insight, that might be a factor for sure. I don't really have anything exciting to look forward to now sad.gif DH actually mentioned that to me last night as well, maybe you're both on to something with that.

Kristina - Thanks for sharing your experience with me. It's interesting that so many of us in this thread have been touched by depression of some sort at one point or another in our lives. I've heard that 1 in 4 women will suffer some sort of depression during their lives, so I guess in that sense it's almost "normal" to feel this way...but definitely not all the time. If I'm still feeling this crappy after starting up my new workout regime, I will probably go see my doc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
