Totally random: Welcoming a new baby donkey to the family...

Recommended Posts

Oh my gosh he is soo cute!!!!!!!

I'm sort of bad with names but I do like the idea of naming him something to commemorate your Cuba trip! Hopefully your dad comes up with something good and please keep us updated with pictures of that little guy!!

OMG that is the cutest little thing ever!!! Thanks for sharing! She takes great animal shots ... her donkeys are gorgeous! I've passed along the link to my parents, I know they'll love it. :)

Oh and I've JUST been informed by my father that he now has a name.... drum roll please:

Hamish!!!

Don't ask me why ... it's a Scottish name ... and I think my father just thinks it'll be funny to scream out that name when they want him to come. LOL

I've been wondering all morning if I could have a donkey now. Shoot, we might live next to a farm (there's a thread about it), and we'll have land. I want a donkey now! Hahahahhaaaa. I am not even kidding that I've been wondering if I could have one.

For anyone thinking of getting a donkey *cough*Carly*cough* they make great "pets". The ones my parents have are miniature donkeys... but donkeys in general have great therapeutic benefits. Time spent with a donkey means time de-stressing and relaxing for you! Donkeys, apparently, possess calming traits that pass to humans. They are loyal pack animals and once you're accepted the treat you as one of their own and will never leave you. They are almost stupidly loyal to their pack (if one is attacked by a wild animal and injured, the remaining uninjured donkeys will NOT leave the injured one's side, no matter what ... whereas in a herd of horses, the other horses would flee and leave the injured one to die).

They really ARE lovely animals ... and if you want to hear what my parent's donkeys sound like, check out this video of Elmo saying 'hi' to myself and my father:

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
