If I can figure out how to get this picture on my post, I will show you the dress I got.  It's an a-line dress with a lot of "ruching" (think that's how it's spelled).  It's a sweetheart neckline, but has a lace halter on top of that.  It is completely not what I expected to like, I thought something much simpler would be better, but simpler was not flattering.

  • 2 weeks later...

I didn't have time to read all of this but I do love this thread. I am 5'7 1/2 and am plus size on the bottom regular size on top. I too am going to try and lose weight before the wedding which isnt until 12/12/12...I hate how hard it is to find clothes that i am comfortable in. But finally my favorite store Maurices where I would by my tops now sells plus size clothes as well. Not all stores but thankfully the one in my town. I always feel like I am sitting in my bottom half and I hate....Reading most of these posts I am hoping will get me inspired more....I am only looking to lose about 55 lbs total...but hoping I can go it...if I don't I bought my dress to fit me as is, and if I do I have a friend of a friend who will alter no matter how much I lose...she is that good!!! I look forward to reading more posts!! Thanks girls....

  • 1 month later...

I'm so glad I discovered this board!  I sat here and read the whole thing!  I am getting married next April and want to try to lose 40-50 lbs by then.  I just signed up for Zumba classes!  Of course I already ordered my dress so hopefully alterations won't be out of control.  I already had to order DOUBLE my street size because of my boobs, I feel like I'm going to be wearing a tent because my girls are so big compared to the rest of my body.  My dress comes in February and I am praying it all works out....

Don't be discouraged you are not the only one in that boat ! lol .. I started off with a size 22 dress!! Eekkkkk ... ( not necessarily just because of my boobs though!! ) ... Just seeing that number motivated me enough to start losing the weight... I didn't think i'd lose this much honestly ... but once you start getting compliments and looking good in your clothes .. the encouragement is enough to make you want to continue... Something happened and so I didn't buy that original dress however I did buy another one ... in a size 14 and I still need alterations .. but it's only going to look better!!! ( However, where did my boobs go I don't know ... I think I lost 40 pounds just of boobies!!) grrrr ... oh well i'm healthier and I'm in the best shape of my entire life so it's worth it!

Do you mind telling me how you did it? I have tried and tried and just can't seem to take weight off..I was dieting, exercising, and still nothing! I got so frustrated and disappointed I stopped doing all of it. Now I have a year and three months before the wedding and I really am not happy with my size. Any words of advice would help.

 Hi asiamarie,

Sure I have no problems posting what I did, however i'm not saying it's the miracle of all " diets" ...My weight loss is due in most part by exercising  i'd say 75%... I changed the way I was thinking about exercising.... I used to do 30-60 minutes of intense aerobic exercise 4-5 times a week .... WRONG .. wouldn't lose anything.. when I realized that the key is to do 15-20 minutes .. but every minute and a half ... I go full intensity .. seems like your heart is wanting to jump out of your throat. So 1 minute and a half... regular intensity (either biking treadmill elliptic) and then 30 seconds of maximum intensity .. I do that for 15 to 20 minutes .. and then I do strengthening, I usually use an elastic .. and do arms, back ... abs... for 30 minutes... when the elastic is too easy I change colors ... and make it harder resistance. At the end I sometimes add another 10 minutes of exercise with the 1 and a half minutes of regular intensity and then 30 second boosts.... and that's it in a nutshell... 1 hour and i'm finished... 3 to 4 times a week. I'm in the best physical shape of my life.. my arms are toned and so are my legs... i've never had these kind of results before.

As for eating habits... the key is to have a good portion breakfast ... I eat pretty much anything.. cereal toast fruit... ( no bacon) ... then I workout .. have a protein drink to replenish my muscles.. have a regular lunch of veggies & meat ... eat yogurt or something low cal for dessert or snack .. have a granola bar as a snack in the afternoon ... eat supper with family ( control my portion to about 3/4 of what I used to eat) ... have a jello or pudding with some social tea biscuits for dessert .... and thats my day of eating .. ( Basically haven't changed much except I eat more at breakfast that I used too ... but I put a little less on my plate for supper) ... Once in a while I get a craving of licorice or chips or even chocolate ... and I indulge no prob. ... but I limit it ALWAYS to not more than 3 licorice .. or half of a choc. bar never a full one ... as for the chips ... around 15 chips ... not more... ( Yes I count them .. or else i'd eat half the bag) ... I don't have a " specific" cheat day ... if I have the urge ... I eat it but always controlling the portion .. sometimes it's up to 3 times a week I " cheat" ... but so far hasn't stopped me from losing the weight ... and I NEVER feel famished ... I realize that I eat the junk food because it tastes good ..not because i'm really hungry. So hope this helps ... and I hope I can get the motivation to lose the last 5-7 pounds ... but if not .. i'm happy with what i've accomplished so far!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
