thanks a million for your reply...glad to know its not just me tearing my hair out at the responses from the WC.

your info was really helpful, thank you - hope your enjoying your wedding planning!!! did you manage to get a reply yet RE: ipod instead of DJ as I was going to ask the same question?!

Thank you!!!

Not an official reply. You can bring your own speaker system (some of the brides have on this forum) or you "rent" the equipment for 250$  Since a DJ is the same price, I'm bringing down my IPOD, with my wedding playlist. I filled out a questionnaire with Tiara with the important songs (first dance, father/daughter, etc) including my processional music (i'm walking down the aisle to Elvis)   I am bringing a Ipod dock incase for later, the SSG closes at 11 but other brides were able to continue the party on the deck.

I'm still being quoted the DJ price. Maybe they changed there policy now since Dana from the forum has informed me that you either have to bring your own set up to play your music or purchase the DJ service for $250. The DJ will play your music from the iPod if you want, but that stinks, having to pay for DJ services just so he can hook up everything and play your music. Not happy about this one.

I know another bride rented a speaker (it cost around 14$ for the week) and it worked. I have a phillips ipod dock, just not sure if it will be loud enough. I decided on the dj just so i didn't have to break my head. I have a very loud group that will make their requests... poor dj won't have a choice but to play our music,

We've decided on using a Bose ipod docking station because we wanted one anyway and this just forces us to purchase it sooner.  That way, we feel a little better about spending $250 on music.  At least we get to keep the Bose system and we make sure the music is played how we want it and in the order it needs to be.

i agree, i may cancel the dj, but keeping it booked for now. I guess the price didn't freak me out because i did almost all the work to have a wedding here at home and the dj was much more expensive. I am bringing my phillips travel one regardless, for after or during the week.

Hi Mrs Williams,

Do you think the Bose docking system will be loud enough for an outdoor reception? We have a generic docking system and it gets pretty loud, but hubby is insisting that it won't be loud enough for an outdoor reception. We are having the reception on the terrace of the oceana restaurant and we need something loud enough to drown out the noise around us. I know the quality of the Bose system is better than anything out on the market, I was just wondering if you have heard the quality.

I would much rather pay for a docking system that we would have for the future, than for a DJ who will just be standing there babysitting our iPod.

Uninspired,

Yes, I've heard the quality of the Bose system. Even on volume 10, it is loud enough to fill an entire lounge area.  There have been other brides who have used the Bose docking system and were happy with their results.  We are having our reception at the Seaside Grill on the deck, where most girls have theirs, and they had good things to say about it.

I think if you're nice and you have a few guests with you, the WCs will allow you to use their speakers if your system isn't loud enough.  Many girls have posted that tips really go far when trying to get extras for free.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
