It took much longer than expected to make my own but it is worth it in the end. I have gotten several great compliments so far.

We are getting married in Riviera Maya and be home before the high season.

These are the things I have done:

1. Purchased a dress but now thinking about getting a different one

2. Getting an estimate on the alterations cost

3. Booked a photographer

4. Sent out "Save the Date" email

5. Collecting guests' mailing address

6. Picked out a design for the wedding invitations

7. Purchased the materials for making the wedding invitations

8. Started working on the wedding web site

9. Completed wedding invitations and mailed them out.

10. Completed wedding web site

Ya finally a Dec 2009 thread :) our date is Dec. 16/09!

Here's what I have accomplished so far (it seems things have been put on hold for a little bit cuz of this swine flu business)..

- chose a resort: Ocean Turquesa (but again, may change if this flu worsens)

- sent out sdts in February and had most of our guests make deposits

- ordered the dress :) and bought FI's shirt

- booked a local photographer

- decided to do partyflops for favours but have yet to order them

- decided to do passport invites but deciding whether to send to everyone, even those who won't make ithuh.gif

- asked my BM and 2 MOH's, found and bought the dresses on the same day!!!

- my TA is working on a website for her destination wedding clients so that's a bonus!

- currently looking for gifts for my girls (my FI hasn't really decided re: his GM's)

For those of you having at home receptions, are you booking your venues/restaurants now?

Our beach wedding is on the same day as yours. I am looking into buying an insurance policy for the wedding.

I contacted the wedding coordinator at EPM and she is going to order the towels for me from a vendor in Cancun so I do not have to worry about shipping or transporting them to Mexico. They cost a bit more (I'm sure the hotel did a little mark up) but it winds up to be the same price considering shipping international is very costly. Plus, it saves the hassle of us having the get the towels there!

Good luck!

The deposits for the wedding are non refundable regardless of the circumstances, so it will be to the bride's advantage to have an insurance policy. I still have a lot of time to research before getting one in place.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
