What's your menu for AHR?

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I are planning a pretty informal AHR. We want a beach-themed BBQ type deal, with dancing, food, and showing our wedding video. What type of things should we serve?

Initially I was thinking hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. Is this too simple? Fiance thinks we should serve BBQ brisket and kabobs. What are your opinions? What are/did you serve at your AHR?

We are also doing a BBQ style AHR. We will be doing Hamburgers, Hotdogs (mainly for the kids), Pulled Pork, BBQ Chicken, Smoked Turkey, Corn on the Cob, Salads (macaroni, slaw, regular, and fruit), Cornbread, Greenbeans, and best of all CAKE! I hope this helps.....maybe.

We are doign a BBQ too. Hamburgers hot dogs BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, salad, pasta salads, potato salad, cole slaw. The whole BBQ thing! We want it low key and nothing fancy because after all it's not a wedding, just a party to celebrate our actual wedding.

Good! I guess great minds think alike! I was thinking maybe brisket, chicken kabobs, hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, potatoe salad, coleslaw, chips, punch, pop...

I think I'm going in the right direction...

Thanks Ladies!

FI's parents are helping pay for our AHR and they suggested BBQ. We may do that - but I don't eat pork wink.gif so I would rather have something else. I want to do a Low Country Boil - shrimp, corn on the cob, red potatoes and sausage. You can serve slaw with it and cocktail sauce and it is YUMMY! My Papaw is from Savannah so he could bring me some fresh shrimp for it.

But if it comes down to price, we will probably stick with BBQ and I'll just ask for some chicken or something wink.gif for myself!

My FI's mom is planning the whole thing. She's all into it, which is great because she's been really hands-off with the wedding planning. ;-)

It's going to be casual, and we're doing it as more of an open-house/drop-in thing. She's getting a variety of heavy appetizers from our favorite local restaurants... party subs from our favorite sandwich spot, cocktail-sized Jamaican beef and chicken patties (our wedding is in Jamaica & my parents are from there), wings from FI's favorite wing place, etc. Two wedding cakes (traditional and Jamaican), and beer, wine and soft drinks.

We are doing a traditional STL BBQ; ribs, rib tips, snoot, hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, chicken wings, pork steaks, etc with baked beans, pot. salad, greens, green beans, spaghetti, toasted ravioli (sp?) and more than likely a variety of desserts to go along with the cake. We are thinking about having indivual gooey butter cakes, black forest, sweet pot. pie, and some standard cake..

We want something very low key, since we are not en-enacting the wedding.. just having a HUGE party to celebrate with everyone and watch fireworks with.

Hope this helps

btw Jen I like the idea of a taco bar.. thats so cute..

    • What color is your wedding? You can go with warm autumn-inspired colors such as burnt oranges, dark reds, burgundy, bright yellows, like fall foliage   https://printsbery.com/invitations/wedding/burgundy   What planning have you guys done?
    • We booked our wedding for April 2021 but the venue let us know at this time they are still implementing Covid measures so we should not have more than 50 guests, etc. We also made sure the contract had an "out" clause that would let us get a refund should the pandemic blow up again, or have the ability to reschedule without penalty.
    • I am having my wedding scheduled in November 2020. I am too much worried about how all the things will be managed in this pandemic situation. About everything like the guest list, preparations, my attire and all. The only thing I am relaxed is about finances. In Feb only me and my fiancé applied for the wedding loans. We have applied early because both of us are having bad credit we had a doubt that it will be approved or not. But our wedding loans with bad credit were timely approved and we have planned accordingly but now this pandemic has spoiled all our preparations. We are trying to be positive and trying to celebrate our new beginnings.
