UnfortunatelyI can't spend $1200 just to spend another $800 trying to make it want I want and still not be the color I want either.

I actually tried to order a cocktail dress about 4 months ago from babyonline much more simple and they blew it before the 45 days, too, and gave a refund with no dress!  I seem to have the worst luck!

In my desperate all evening search for the perfect dress (since I've given up on the custom design I wanted) I've been searching for something simple but different.  Since I'm doing a handfasting I'll be wearing his tartan sash at the end and for some pics.  He'll be wearing a kilt so there is a lot going on in our outfits.

I found a very unique seller on ebay.  Her dresses (or his, I don't know) are more my style. Very avant garde, think Pnina Tornai!  I placed my bid and hopefully all will turn out well.

Here's the seller:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/booming10/m.html?_trkparms=65%253A15%257C66%253A4%257C39%253A1&rt=nc&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14.l1581&_pgn=2

And here's the dress I'm bidding on:

If you look at the auction they show it in cream with black overlay. I want a light blue with white lace.  I think this is exactly what I was looking for.  I'm busty so if it shows too much I will have a one-shoulder detachable sash or sleeve added.$(KGrHqN,!g8E3vnn43mDBOMjjKeZwg~~_12.JPG

How does the ebay deal work? You place a bid and they decide if thats enough?? I've never even looked into any type of dresses on ebay. Is it worth it?

Hello ladies… so Iâ€m finally home and tried on my dress…and I have to say: I loooooooooove my dress!! As you might remember, I ordered my replica dress from bigdaydress. They used the same satin material like the original dress I tried on in the store… totally loving it! Itâ€s maybe 1 size too big though, but thatâ€s easy to fix – better than not fitting in the dress at all, right? :) My FI measured me that day, so the sizing could also be our mistake.

So here are the steps of my process – and hopefully it will help some other ladies on the board with their decision and dress hunt:

1. I tried on the original dress in the store. Therefore, I knew how it would look and fit on my body and how the material felt like, etc…

2. I did check out discount websites like recycle bride, etc…but what are the chances of having them sell the same dress in the same color in my size, right? I also checked out “cheaper†bridal stores like Davidâ€s Bridal or Alfred Angelo, but didnâ€t like any of their dresses and didnâ€t want to just settle for a dress.

3. since my wedding is not til May 2012, I had plenty of time to check out vendors…and even if this dress was messed up, I still have plenty of time to order another one… I contacted like 5-6 dress makers that were recommened on this thread, e.g. giannar bridal, jasmine bridal (they were more expensive), jeff liu (he quoted me $400), monicaâ€s bridal (slow response, even though cheap), babyonline (fast response, but hasnâ€t created a similar dress for other customers before), etc

4. since I wanted some changes to my dress (no shoulder strap, add beadings), I actually inserted my dress pic from the store to a word document, then draw lines of where the beading should be, I added comments to it, etc… you have to keep in mind, that these dress makers are from China and english are not their first language… and since they canâ€t read my mind – I figured, Iâ€ll put a lot of details in my instructions as possible and visuals are more helpful than words alone.

5. I sent them pic of the beading that I would like on the dress.

6. I requested approval pics BEFORE they send out my dress.

Why did I choose Bigdaydress? Because I read on other wedding forums (The Knot, wedding bee) great reviews about them. I also asked all the dress makers for pictures of similar dresses that they have created for other customers and bigdaydress sent me several pictures from different clients. And as a customer, I really like it, when they respond to me quickly as bigdaydress did. It made me feel confident and even after I paid for the dress, their customer service response was still fast. I ordered the dress in Mid July, received my approval pics a month later and once I gave them my OK, they shipped it out right away. So it took about 1.5 months to get my dress (of course, I also ordered it during a month, where there are no big holidays in China – so not a busy season). Now that Iâ€ve tried on the dress, I donâ€t feel like itâ€s cheap at all…I donâ€t think, anyone can tell if my dress was made in China or if I bought it here. And even though I only paid $369 (original dress was $1400)!! I donâ€t think, you can get a dress like that for less than $400 at Davidâ€s Bridal, do you? :)

I also have to thank the ladies on the board here… without these reviews, I probably would have never even thought about getting a replica dress… i was too nervous ordering a replica dress – but after reading all these great reviews from other brides, I figured, Iâ€ll give it a try. And now, Iâ€m presenting you my dress… what do you think? Hope you like it as much as I do…

I have not recieved my actual dress yet, but I should get it soon.  So far I have been really happy working with Jasmines bridal shop, hopefully my opionion is the same once my dress comes in.  They have great communication and their website has great pictures of the work they have done.  They are a little more expensive but still resonable.

When you place an order it is 1/2 down and then once you approve their pictures of the dress they charge you for the other 1/2 and ship it out to you after double checking measurements.

I will be posting pics once I get my dress and can provide more information at that time....

DON'T DO IT!!!

If you look back quite a few pages you'll see my post with my dress from Fabulous U.  Their initials are FU, take that as your warning...  The embroidery on my gown is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but the dress left the factory with a rip right across the top of the skirt that they tried to hide behind some hideous ruching.  I say "left the factory" because I know for a FACT it did not happen during shipping.  And I left a comment on their Rate Point that is linked to their page and it never showed up.  Notice how there are no negative comments?  They are obviously taking them out and only leaving the positive ones.

I paid $269.99 for my dress, plus paid for express shipping only to have it shipped regular post and when it showed up my tiara was also destroyed because it was wrapped in a thin foam wrapper (not styrofoam, more like a fabric-like foam).  I'm now paying $350+ to have my dress repaired, and I'm not sure if it can even be repaired to my liking.  Please, please, please choose someone else!  There are companies that offer better quality for a better price!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
