Hey 2010 Brides,

We have decided on Aventura Spa Palace for our wedding January 29th 2010. I fell in love with the resort from the second I saw the pictures and everyone I have heard who has gone there has 0 complaints. I don's mind that there is no real beach and it's just a lagoon that you can snorkel in. I actually find that better because I'm so afraid of sharks that I barely have ever gone into the ocean.

I think that the Palace resorts have the most accommodating wedding packages that have no hidden fees for having up to 35 Guests. We are probably going to have between 30 -35 Family and close friends join us for our wedding.

Hi Ladies!

We are just starting our planning for our 2010 Mayan Wedding. I am slightly stressed about a few things and am hoping someone can give me some advice. I have been getting a few prices back from a travel agent but am being told that they will only guarantee the group rate for 7 days. Within this 7 days we need to have 10 people book so that they can hold the price. I have been to a couple destination weddings and we never had to book this quickly. Anyone experience this or have any advise? Also, my fiance would really prefer to wait to book until the end of May or beginning of June. He thinks that we will have more people prepared to pay their deposit then. I would really prefer the sooner we get something in place the more at ease I will feel. I would hate for us to pick our resort and then find out that they don't have alot of options for wedding date/time. Any advise on when we should book or how quickly we need to pick a date/time??

Hello 2010 brides!

We are planning to get married in May 2010. We chose Dreams Cancun. I've not decided on the exact date yet. I'm trying to see when it is cheaper to go, but the prices will not be out until September. Is this too late? How's everyone doing this? Do you wait until prices are out first or just confirm a date?

Wow, that sucks. What I have heard is that I will have to put the deposit down to hold the rooms. I've never heard that anyone needs to all book at the same time. One of the benefits of using a travel agent is supposed to be that people don't have to pay everything all at once. Have you tried more than one travel agent?

Hi!

It is my understanding that when a TA requests a quote for a group from a tour operator the quote usually lasts only 7 days. It is likely that the tour operator equates a "group" to be 10 persons or more. If you do not book that minimum you cannot get the group rate. If you do not book before the 7 days is up, the quote expires and you have to get a new one. If you decide to book with this quote, other people can be added to your group file any time as long as there is space available at your destination (and air seats of course!).

Hope that helps!

I'm putting down a deposit to hold rooms, but my guests can also put down a deposit and then make payments. They don't have to be paid in full until 2/10 for an April 2010 wedding. I agree with leogurl - You might want to check with some other travel agents.

Hi all 2010 brides,

I have been planning (or trying to plan) my June 2010 wedding since July of 07! We decided on a vacation to Xcaret in Mexico that the beach was definately where our wedding was going to be. We have since then been back to Mexico twice, once to Playa and once to Cozumel. I have also been to Cancun (when I was 19).

We have decided on Cozumel. I like the idea of getting married on an Island! Cancun, for me, has too many young party goers. We want a more intimate affair. We have choosen to marry at Mr. Sanchos (it has a wedding garden and a beach side restaurant). The name sounds funny but it is gorgeous and the wedding planner, Stephanie, is great. We saved our date with her last year but we can not arrange any details until 3-6 months before due to the many number of weddings she does year round. SHe is great and has a website that is very helpful if anyone is interested. Cozumelweddingplanner.com

Also the resort will not let us book rooms until June 09 or later because they do not yet have the rates set. We are staying at the Occidental Grand Cozumel.

If there are any other Cozumel brides I would love to hear from you! Hope this helps someone.

I just wanted to add to my post from earlier...

If you do decide you like Cozumel you can still fly into Cancun because it is cheaper then you take the bus from the airport to Playa which is only ~$8. Once at the bus stop in Playa there is a ferry around the corner and you take that to Cozumel, ~$12. Do NOT take a cab from airport to Playa, they will rip you off and you have to walk forever to get to the ferry. Also if you look into Grand Cozumel and you decide you are looking for more inexpensive rooms try their sister resort next door, Allegro Cozumel.

LOL- I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one out there!

We're doing March 2010 (hopefully the 18th) on the Mayan Riviera. We sent out our STDs in October '09 since we're hoping to go to a pricier resort (maybe El Dorado Seaside?) and wanted to give people lots of time!

Has anyone been able to start booking Canadian departures? My TA keeps telling me "any day now" for pricing, and I'm getting anxious... I just want to book a resort and start with all the details!

Hi there, first let me say that I don't think you or your guests should book any travel without first booking your wedding date with the hotel you choose! Also, I don't think it is reasonable for your TA to only give you and your guests a 7 day window to book at a certain rate. Maybe you should look into a different TA. I just finalized my group contract and my guests basically have from now until next March to book at the rate me and my FI agreed to. (btw I used one of the TA's from this forum)
However, if you only have 10 guests, maybe it would just be easier to have everyone book on their own through expedia or something. It could save you a headache.
I am waiting for the airfare for April 2010 to come out before I book my travel. HTH

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
