Sing Happy Birthday to a guest at my wedding dinner?

I think it's your call, but I don't see the big deal. If you aren't comfortable with them singing, then I think having the DJ acknowledge it is a great choice. I don't think singing would detract from your wedding celebration at all; however, I hate being sung too, so think about if the person would appreciate it or not. If they won't (like I would be super embarrassed if someone did that to me), then all this worry is for nothing. If they would like it, I really don't think it would harm the feeling of the wedding being about you.

My SMIL's bday was our wedding day and we did a special cake and singing at the welcome dinner the night before. I felt weird about it being on the actual wedding day too but we really needed to do something special. If this was at home, would you do it there? I think 60 is a big deal and should be acknowledged in some special way. Maybe do something earlier in the day like at lunch?

I agree it's totally up to you! However, I think it would be very gracious of you to let birthday wishes be sung. A tribute to your elders or something like that. LOL...for me, being a little uncomfortable being the center of attention, I would probably be grateful for the distraction!

Abbie - I can in no way picture you being a bridezilla after meeting you this past weekend!!! LOL!

Hey Sunny Bride

Not long now before we depart for Mexico. My group departs on January 24 for our January 29th Wedding.

How has planning gone for you? What have you pre-booked? Who is your WC? What time & location is your ceremony and reception?

Wishing you all the best ~ See you in Mexico :)
Ciao

Let it go it'll take minutes and make her feel special. FMIL's birthday is on the 29th and her LATEST wedding anniversary is on the 31st lol I purposely made sure i wasn't getting married or even in Mexico then but that wasn't because I didn't want to detract from my day it was because she is a cow and I can't stand her lol Oh and the fact that she would have banged on all day about how we'd arranged it on purpose lol

If it was my aunt's birthday i would have been WELL HAPPY to do it lol

Let it go you won't even notice you'll be so hyped lol

Hi Laura,

I'm getting SO EXCITED!! Most of our guests are meeting us there on January 24th, but we're leaving this Friday, so just under two days to go.

Planning has gone pretty well. I'm working with Lily, and she's been really responsive and easy to work with. We've got the flowers, centerpieces, cake, etc all arranged, along with equipment for a slide show (we're inside in the Ballroom Carey). How did that stuff go for you? Who was your wedding coordinator? We'll have a welcome dinner on the Sunday night, because some family members don't arrive until then at the Italian restaurant (El Mangar?). I can't remember the name right now.

The ceremony is at 4:00 on January 29th at the Tucan Gazebo - same time as yours, I think? Are you going to the disco later in the night after your reception? We'll have to keep an eye out for each other. Best of luck with your wedding and your trip!

Janet

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
