Wedding was AMAZING ladies!  I am planning on posting a FULL review in the next day or so, but in the meantime if you want to see about 600 or so pictures friend request me on FB.  I have posted everything but my photographers pictures.  Which BTW if you are looking for one I used William Sanchez.  He was reasonable and was like a ninja photographer!  I saw a preview and they were breathtaking!

my FB email is ncarolinadaisy@yahoo.com

Let's see where do I begin...

Everything was AMAZING from start to finish!  The only negative thing I will say is that they were not able to accommodate me and my guests in the same building or even close.  Not to mention they had no knowledge that we requested it.  Just a heads up for those of you expecting that request will be met.  Understandable if we had a 60 person wedding party, but there were only 5 rooms reserved.

Anyway...honestly ladies I wouldn't stress too much about the wedding.  Every little email that you send to Yamina is kept and printed and put in a file for you.  It may seem like her emails are short or she takes a while to get back to you.  Don't worry!  She will take care of it!  My flowers were identical to the pictures I sent her and every other request was met.  The day was perfect!  You are in good hands!

My photographer was the shiz!  I feel like I couldn't have made a better choice.  He showed me a preview as we shot photos throughout the day and even the unedited photos were breathtaking!  He was professional, courteous, and gave lots of direction!  He had lots of creative ideas and was also willing to listen to mine.  I highly recommend him!  I would say he was worth every penny and I have not received a single photo yet.  I will post the link as soon as I do though!

The resort is immaculate.  Your guests will be wowed for sure!  The grounds are amazing, the rooms are beautiful, drinks super tasty especially the Frozen Passion Fruit Margarita with Don Julio!!!  My only negative would be that the food was not incredible by any means.  It looks more amazing than it actually tastes.  Don't get me wrong...it's good, but I am a foodie and a total food snob so that just may be my opinion.  But still very good for an all-inclusive.

Please do yourself a favor and go to the Michael Jackson show (Thursday Night)!  It was the night of my wedding and we made arrangements for my group to have reserved seating.  Wow!  So much FUN!

I honestly don't know if you ladies could have picked a better place for you and your guests to go for a destination wedding.  I have poured over the internet the past couple of days trying to find a place to travel to for our first anniversary and unless Oyster Bay opens I think its going to be tough to beat!

Oh and don't be afraid to ask for something.  There is no such thing as "no" at Playa, or at least I never heard it.  And...a couple of bucks here and there go a long where.  I know it's "included" but these people bust their butts.  Reward them!  Victor was my favorite bartender/ pool area waiter!  If you see him tell him Me-le-sa said hola!

I know there is tons more that I could post, but I have jumped into more DIY projects for my reception!  Ahhhhh!  But feel free to ask any questions!

I can't seem to gather my thoughts enough to write my own review, so I'll just keep commenting on other people's.  :) I agree with Melissa's comments about the wedding planning and the resort...everything was perfectly taken care of and every need was accommodated.  Drinks were great, and I too am a foodie (my new hubby is a chef!) so am a little snobby about those things...but for an all inclusive, it's the best food I've ever had at one.  My favorites were the breakfasts at The Lobster House and also the buffet, lunch by far is the best at The Lobster House, and you can just hop up from the pool and head up there! My favorite dinners were at the Mexican restaurant and the Flavor Market for tapas (as dinner or just before).  The Lobster House dinners were good too - just be sure and get steamed, not grilled (if you get lobster).  But, everyone has their own palette, so I'm sure opinions are different from each individual.

And YES, go to the Michael Jackson show!!  It was fantastic and we had such a good time.  We also went to the dancing exhibition and went down one night while they had a spanish guitar player out on the patio and enjoyed those as well.

The waitstaff, housekeeping and bartenders all work hard, so we tipped pretty generously.  They always remembered our names, what our favorites were, and some even remembered our room number as we were checking in at the restaurants - amazing!

I am putting some pics up from my trip on facebook as well, but still don't have any from the wedding. (other than a few shots taken by guests that aren't great!) I will put up a link as soon as I get them back from my photographer.  Hoping to have a least a few by this weekend...our reception at home is Saturday so I wanted to do a little slideshow to run during the party!

Here is a link from my photographer, Citlalli Rico to her blog with a few of my wedding pics.  I will post more up once I get them this week.

She and her sister Tamara were wonderful to work with and as you can see from the pictures, they are true artists!  I am a designer and am really picky about photography - I sent her a million examples of the styles I like, ideas, etc. and she was very patient and from what I have seen really listened!  They were friendly, unobtrusive and fun!  We went down to the villa next to the resort for pictures as well - you can see that in several of the ones posted on her blog.  It was great, and a nice break from that windy beach!!  :)

Our wedding was on October 15 and our at-home reception is this Saturday, the 13th.  They really went the extra mile to make sure we had our pictures back in time to show at the party.

I definitely recommend her - she is with Claudia Rodriguez Studios and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer for our group.

Here's the link, I'll be sure to put up more with some details of cake, flowers, venue etc. that I know you guys all want to see (because I wanted to see everyone else's before my wedding!!)

Thanks so much for sharing your pictures!  Funny!  Our colors and flowers were the same!  :)

I had one more thing to add to my "not so impressed" list.  If you are planning on a pedi at the spa...SKIP IT! Mine was sub par and both of my bridesmaids paint chipped off by the next day.  They didn't even use a top coat on the polish!  Not impressed. The hair and make up was excellent though!  :)

Melissa, I noticed that too!  Pink just looks so pretty with the ocean and sand.  We had kind of a "Mexican kitsch" theme - I had the papel picado flags and these awesome pinta-esque shoes.  Our party at home is at a Mexican place and we are doing pinatas, more papel picado, taco bar, mexican wedding cookies for dessert, etc. There was a Mexican fiesta dinner going on a the resort that night and she took some pics of us with the decorations there, I'm hoping they turn out well!!

I put some more of my personal pics (and finally got some from my friends!) up on my facebook if anyone wants to friend me to check them out, there are lots of pics of the resort, rooms, etc. It's Sarah Vespasian.  Surely there's only one of those out there.  :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
