Ooh I LOVE Glenda's idea. Except I would do the whole thing AT the One & Only if it was me. I'm totally wishing that was what we were doing instead of bringing our stupid families...omg- did I just say that? Bad bride, bad bride...lol

I think what you want to do is an awesome idea. One of our reasons for going alone is that I always say "on the day after our wedding I dont want to be sitting poolside with my father. I want to be with my wife". We figured that the best way to make such an important day be all about us is to have just the two of us there. No distractions or other people to worry about or cater to.

Our plans are................. Ceremony at 10. Cake/lunch/etc right after. Beach time during the afternoon. And then probably a dinner for the two of us on the beach in the evening.

See Tammy? Jason and Karen's private ceremony sounds so wonderful. What if you did it at the One & Only? You could ride up in the little carriage ride. So romantic. Did you ever see the couple on Juan's slideshow (on his webpage) that had a private 2 person ceremony at the One & Only? There is one couple that is older and then there is a younger couple who exchanged vows in the chapel. It is terribly romantic. I love it. I'm such a sap when it comes to things like this. And Sarah is right the one & only is stunning!!! You would love it.

I love this slideshow b/c it is just the two of them and I think it's so romantic. Plus I love the color of the groom's suit, it's so different, it's great. Also look how cute the last pic is with the "Thank You" cards held behind their backs. Adorable.

Tammy,

I am in a totally different boat than you because we had a huge guest list and for us our wedding was as much about our families and friends as it was about us. The day after the wedding we hung by the pool with our guests at the Cabo Surf but then we transferred to the Marquis and it was wonderful. We arrived to choc dipped strawberries, champagne, and a drawn bath full of rose petals. We did choose to see our fam/friends a few times over the next few days, but it was totally our choice to do so. I say if you want to have your guests there, just be sure to switch hotels and tell the hotel to hold all calls once you get there.

Otherwise, do something really romantic with the two (or four) of you. We went to the Esperanza resort for dinner one night and there was a group of about 12 that were there celebrating the wedding. I do not recommend the restaurant (review later) but think that would be a great, fun intimate way to celebrate your day - perhaps at the Palmilla or one of the other fine dining restaurants.

A lot of the resorts set up beachfront dining. I saw the setup at the Marquis the first night that we were there and it was terribly romantic. A table surrounded by tiki torches, and a fire pit and a musical duo playing.

I've heard really good things about One & Only & the resort is awesome. We really wanted to have our wedding there, but their rules for weekend weddings didn't work for a group of our size. But their rules for a 2-person non-weekend wedding are more doable. Sometimes I wish that we'd chosen that instead. :)

I'm attaching their rules along with their wedding dinner & cake information, just in case you're interested! I have a ton more information (like entertainment, photographers, etc, etc) but I didn't want to overload you with things you didn't want. Let me know if you do.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
