it's like Dejavu! I had the SAME issue! I ordered my dress. It came in in January... it was AWFUL! Terrible. it made me cry just looking at it. I hated it. Of course everyone thought it was pretty... but I had to feel like a princess on my wedding day and that dress made me feel like crap.

So I 100% know what you are saying! I hope that you are able to sell it!!!

thanks everyone... it sounds really corny but all your notes help... and i am by no means a emotional person.. but having people who understand it's your wedding thing.. really helps me feel better... I am sure I'll find something, not too worried.. more just pissed off I sunk $$ into this dress...

hopefully i'll sell it to someone who is happy with it, so it'll all be good.

thanks again for your kind words...

i agree with bachatabride ... we NEED to see it on you! maybe it's only so unflattering because it's too big? i know i looked best (thinnest) in the dresses that i practically had to remove a rib to fit into, LOL! when they were way too big they just looked unflattering and dumpy.

if you show us a pic with you wearing it, perhaps we could suggest changes or even other styles that would be more flattering to your body type. seems like plenty of girls tried this style and were disappointed, so they could probably tell you what styles they tried that looked better. YOU need to feel beautiful in the dress!

  • 1 month later...

So I know this thread is a bit old but I wanted to let those girls who were interested in buying this dress that it can work on some body types :)

I actually bought this dress without trying it on. I know.....I know....scary. smile41.gif But, just like you lil_miss_frog EVERYONE told me this was my dress. I had tried on lots of dresses that were similar but never this one.

Well....the dress came in and it is great. It is too big on me but once it is tailored I'll post more pictures - in about a month.

For now here are a few close ups. To note - I'm a curvy girl - size 10/12 in street clothes. I have a very large bust and carry my weight up top. The dress definitely fits my body type great. If you didn't have much of a chest I don't think this dress would look right. FYI - this is Mon Cheri 18107 in ivory.

Close up of front. Once it is tailored it will fit better. I'm holding it tight behind my back.

Wow, what a gorgeous dress. Cruiser, it looks great on you!

I also am having a lot of second thoughts about my dress. I don't hate mine per se but now I'm really wishing that I had chosen a different dress. I just don't like it now that it's been altered because it's kind of a cheap dress and I think it fits like a cheap dress. I wish I would have gotten one of the more expensive but more flattering dresses. sad.gif I know what you are going through. My wedding is still four months away but the dress I want now is a Spring 2009 dress so I'm having problems buying it for a good price off the rack.

Good luck in your search!

PrairieGirl, I'm not sure what part of the province you're in, but Something Blue in Saskatoon just had a big sale (sign up for their email and you'll get a head's up on sales), and I know there's a used wedding dress store in Regina if you're willing to look there.

Hopefully you've got a new dress you love by now, if not send me a PM and I'll keep an eye out for you if I hear of anything.

DRESS UPDATE!!

I found a dress just before Christmas.. but haven't had time to post...

I found it here in Regina.. perfect!! It was in the back ordered for someone else.. but wrong size (or something)... But very pricy (of course) about $1150 plus taxes YIKES!!!

So I memorized it.. noted the dress maker.. searched online and FOUND IT on EBAY!! haha.. You betcha.. a wedding store in the US going out of business . Same size, colour and all they wanted was.. $415USD.. so I came and cost $515 CND it is perfect.. but ended up being way to big... So with I have my dress fitting on Friday and I am SET!!!

It is Maggie Sorreto 'Raegan'.. I have pics at home.. will post them later tonight if I get the chance...

I am so excited.. I also ordered my veil off ebay.. (fist time user) for 1 cent (plus shipping) so it was $10cnd.. it hasn't arrived yet.. but I'm not worried...

hopefully I will get pics up tonight... :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
