Congrats Holly! I am getting married in Nuevo Vallarta but there are several beautiful places to have a destination wedding. What I did was look at the price of flights that the bulk of my guests would be taking that way I could plan around affordability for my guests. Since I'm in Texas, Mexico was the place to go for me. We looked into Aruba, but my guests would have to spend a night in a northern airport just to make it to Aruba. My advice is to research that first. I also didn't want my guests paying $1200 for a flight to Belize (which was my first choice). Anyway, that's how I went about choosing. Happy planning!

HI and Welcome!

I was in the same boat! My suggestion is to take the time to browse the different locations on here... then google the resort and narrow it down that way! Ask questions and take your time on the front end! Everything comes together pretty quickly once you select the destination!

Let me know if you have Q's! I am in MN and my cousin is going to be playing hockey for the Badgers this fall so I will be in madison quite a bit too!

Hi Holly!

I'm from Wisconsin too! Just to your west about an hour! We should meet up some time, that'd be fun!

Now, as for your destination, where will you be flying out of? For my wedding I did A LOT of price and package comparision leaving from both Milwaukee and Chicago so maybe I can help you out. PM me if you are interested.

Otherwise, WELCOME and congratulations on your engagement!

Welcome Holly ! Congrats to the both of you ! If you don't have lots of time to plan I would suggest Cuba or Dominican Republic (DR has better food) the documents required are not over the top like lets say Mexico... I started looking up the requirements in the different countries, once you have a few narrowed down go to our local Travel Agent Store, they have the actual Travel Wedding catalogues that will give you lots of interesting info such as wedding package pricing etc on many wedding destinations.…

If you need help just write...

Cheers and good luck

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
