We're moving to DC!

My FI is an officer in the Coast Guard, and will be moving to DC in January.

I have started looking at housing and jobs, quite overwhelming!

If anyone knows the best places to live, I would love to hear your advice. I have done research online and sounds like the Adams Morgan/Logan Circle area is pretty popular. We really want to live where there is stuff to do, nightlife, restaurants, culture.. We are 28, no kids, so we want to be able to walk to things.

I have been looking at apartments.com and craigslist to get an idea about housing. Not sure if anyone knows of any other good resources.

Thanks!

Hi Hannah,

I live in Cleveland Park in DC and would be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have!

All of the area's mentioned above sounds great. My one warning with Adams Morgan is that is can be a little "too" nightlife oriented, IMO. Think passed out college students on the sidewalk.

As long as you can walk to a metro stop the whole city will be at your fingertips, :o)

Personally I'm a big fan of Capitol Hill area & Dupont Circle...and of course Cleveland Park!

Craiglist is an excellent way to suss out housing!

ps) Just a heads up DC housing is expensive!!

I love 20 min south of DC and those places are nice but it can get a lil crazy around there. Adams Morgan is fun for bar hopping and hanging out but it is a bit much. I love going out and partying but I don't think I could live around there because I do like peace and quiet once in a while.

Everything is so convenient and you wouldn't need to drive much which is a bonus. But like Jocy said it is very expensive around here.

Good luck with your search.

We just went to visit friends in DC, and they live in Georgetown right off of M Street, ( like heart of shopping, bars, restaurants) and we LOVED it! The area has so much character, great to walk around too. I have also heard Adams Morgan is the place to be for bars and such, but Georgetown was awesome... best of luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
