February 09 Brides

We had the same trouble with sandals and FI's suit. We ended up getting him a pair of brown dress shoes instead.

I also agree the weeks are flying by! We are mailing out our care packages right after Christmas and I totally feel the pressure to get DIY projects completed.

mrsbancroft2be- I am debating back and forth about having a welcome cocktail hour. I think I will give guests option on Wednesday night of meeting in the hotel lobby for a non-hosted hour or so, as a meet and greet. Since our guests are going to be at 2 hotels, it would be a nice way to connect everyone I think (especially for the few guests who don't know many people)but definitely doesn't need to be hosted by the bride/groom.

Thursday we are so busy- my mom is throwing me a shower poolside :), guys will likely be fishing, then later we have rehearsal and dinner. So I don't want to overwhelm people- I guess I will throw the option out there, and if guests would like to go for a drink they can or not...

The rehearsal dinner is killing me too- I found a great restaurant and really want to do one, but at even just the wedding party and family it's 25 people (hosted by us..so it's another thing to add into budget). I guess I will do just a few bottles of wine and a set menu to try and keep cost down.smile105.gif

And I soo don't have it together, trust me :)!!!

Another option for sandals is to go with basic flips (you can find those in black, or brown leather..and I think you can pull it off on the beach and still look chic). Or look around in department stores, sports stores (like REI) or perhaps in guys clothing stores like Pacific Sun, Levi, Lucky Brand- they are probably having big sales this time of year on sandals!

Are you going to have a welcome dinner or cocktail hour for your guests when most of them arrive? I am debating whether or not to have one.
I cannot put my list up here either... too darn embarrassing... actually I have yet to create it!!

We're not doing a welcome dinner, well not a formal one anyways... instead, we are having everyone meet us on the malecon in Puerto Vallarta (its like a big boardwalk) and we will hang out there for a few hours. Our problem is we have 2/3 of our guests staying at an AI with the other 1/3 of them off-resort... too darn expensive to bring them on resort to do anything that way!

I guess I should actually open and look at Beck's planning list spreadsheet that I downloaded about a month ago...

I think we have decided to have a people meet on Thursday night at the sports bar in the CasaMagna. We are not inviting all of our guests to the rehersal dinner on Friday so I feel we need to welcome our guests somehow. I think we will do it after dinner so we don't have to pay for food and just front the bill for drinks.

Does everyone have shoes for bridesmaids? Mine have fuschia dresses and I can not find shoes anyone have any ideas? or good websites to look at?

I'll be there the week after you (next door though)

My girls are fuschia as well! I got them barefoot sandals and let them chose their shoes for reception

I did check out zappos but there are so many to choose from I can't make up my mind. smile105.gif

So I have decided to put that mission on hold and find little shirts for my ring bearers (I have 4) I am going to check out the forum and see if anyone has posted outfits for little boys.

Is anyone else completely overwhelmed with this stuff? I thought getting married in a different country would make it easier on me but I guess I thought wrong! Oh well I am looking on the bright side, the more I have to worry about the less time I have to veg at night in front of the TV.

Saludos y Suerte a todos!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
