i pay for the hosting, software, tech support, etc. out of money from my own pocket and also am the one that has to do all the upgrades, maintenance, etc. on my own in my free time as i cannot afford to have someone work full time keeping this site running smoothly.

i think people also do not realize that searches, downloading attachments all use server bandwidth so they cause the server to run more slowly...so when you see a newby complaining about "Points" and why they can't just download as many attachments as they want and you donate points thinking you are being generous, keep in mind what you are really doing.

also, when you complain about the ads, also keep in mind they are the only thing keeping this forum up and running...if this server plan i have now does not work i will have to upgrade the server AGAIN. this will take a ton of time and also cost double what the hosting plan we are on now costs.

another thing, I own a travel agency that specializes in DW so when you advertise your own travel agent for perks or whatever it is a little frustrating.
Perhaps what I said came out incorrectly....but it was never intended to say that the folks/you of this forum have done anything wrong or don't do enough. What I simply meant was I thought maybe it was ME or maybe something I was doing wrong. Everytime I got on, people were posting and it didn't seem like anyone was having problems. I was only checking to see if it was me or system wide.

And I have no idea what you're talking about complaining about ads, I haven't complained about any ad yet. Unless you weren't speaking directly to me.....

Again, all I was doing was checking to see if this was a system wide problem or just me......geez.

In the meanwhile......I love the site......and really appreciate it. What can I do to help out? I'd love to help!

Hi Tammy,

I don't think this was intended as an attack on you or the forum. For myself, i was just relieved i am not having MORE problems with my stupid computer!

I can only speak for myself when i say i had no idea this was a one-woman show run in your spare time from your home, but i'd just like to say - WOW! pinkie.gif This is an incredible product (for lack of a better word) that you have created, and it is greatly appreciated by every bride here who would have had no idea where to start if not for this forum! So THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!

I know there is not much we can contribute as far as the time it takes to run such a thing, but i am pretty sure there are a lot of us here who would be willing to contribute financially to help keep things running smoothly and give back to you for all that you have given us. For all that we ALL benefit from the site, there is no reason you should have to shoulder the entire financial burden yourself.

Well I am not having any issues but I do want to say that what you are doing here is a great service to all of us brides and grooms who choose join. You have supplied us with a place to get info, share info, and get support on a variety of things. I may be new to this forum but I see the work that has had to go into it to make it happen. Thank you is all I can offer to you and it comes from the deepest parts of my being! hug2.gif

For those of you saying you want to support the forum, probably the best thing you can do is reffer Tammy's services as a travel agent. This forum helps bring business to her, and we can all help her out on that front by recommending her to the new people on here who may not realize that she's the one supporting this forum.

I'm sure it wasn't directed at you, there was another thread started about the ads. It was started because somebody purchased the "remove advertisements" feature with their points and was wondering why it wasn't working (the feature is not available for this forum, although still for sale so a few people have used their points to buy it even though it doesn't work). That started a much larger discussion about the advertisements. You can see that thread here http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27640
Not trying to draw more attention to the thread or get more people complaining about the ads (although I think most people stated that they understood the ads were important) but just wanted to clarify for you (and others reading) why Tammy brought that up.

Thank you for clarifying that about the ads. I was all confused. Still don't get why anyone would have any problems with this entire forum and create conflict, but you know how it is......people just gotta complain about SOMETHING. I sometimes wish I didn't work, because really, I'd be on this thing ALL day. No really!!

I'm just glad we're all squared away, I think. Believe me, I was NOT complaining about this site one bit. I was just hoping nothing was wrong with my computer, I was getting nervous cause the thing is getting old and I fear breakdown!

Have a good day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
