            Hi all!!

Its been a really long time since I've been back from my amazing wedding at the Grand Riviera Princess in March. Hope I can remember everything....

We had 38 guest arrive. 30 of which all stayed in the platinum side (Well worth every penny) They don't give you a limit on the A La Cartes per week and to have a private pool, it was amazing. it turned out to be a great meeting place...

We had Mara as our WC... a little scared going to the resort, I had read some brides that had a signed contract weeks before getting to the resort... Us we didn't get anything picked out like flowers, cake, our dinner until 2 days after we got to the resort. We gave Mara our wedding favors, so on the day they would be at our place setting for dinner....

We had the legal ceremony... We met with the legal representative the day before the wedding. we gave our blood and signed a couple forms and basically when on our way... They told us that the Marriage Certificate should arrive in 3 months... I was actually surprised it arrived in Canada 6 weeks. in Spanish....

The wedding day started with me eating breakfast with family & sitting by the pool until my hair appointment at 12 (noon) by one of the girls in the spa, my brides made also had a appointment at the same time... There is only two chairs so make sure that you leave enough time if others want there hair done too.. I forgot my picture in the room to show how i would like my hair, but they had a binder of pictures that I went through and found one that I loved.. my hair dresser did not speak any English, if you do not have a picture explaining if could be difficult..

We were done around 1:30ish I walked back to my room to get ready and my flowers were already delivered. (sitting on the bed) and my dress was hanging ( back from getting steamed) I was a little worried about house keeping taking my dress to have it pressed but I'm glad I did. they did a fabulous job.  Also when i arrived back to my room. there was a fruit tray and champagne... Love it!!

2:00 my family & friends came to help me get dresses, by that time my photographer (Claudia Rodriguez) was talking pictures of us getting ready. 2:45 the trolley was there to pick us up (room for 6 people) and took us to the beach.... We had the beach reception.... It was beautiful.... I was soo pleased with how everything turned out. the day before my husband and I took a peek at another wedding that was going on and talked to the "music guy" to make sure we have the right connections for our Ipod. he asked us to make sure that the songs are in order and on the day of the wedding to explain it again to him....

3:00 was the ceremony. it lasted 15 mins. after the ceremony We have our first dance... while we were talking picture we had an open bar for a hour. ( we had the Royalty package which the open bar was included)

7:00 dinner at the tapas a la carte... it was an amazing dinner. we had a green salad, Gazpacho soup, Roasted Chicken & Ice Cream for dessert. and of course our wedding cake. tons of food.

if you decide on this ala carte and wish to make speeches.... remember that there is flamenco dancers/ show and this takes 30 mins out of your dinner ....

after the dinner we all gathered in the main lobby bar until they closed the bar around 11pm...

all in all i was very pleased with everything that went on with the day and how it unfolded. I only wish I we would of ate at another al a carte, and made it at 730 or 8pm...

a couple of you asked about US/ Pesos.... we brought 100. US $1.00... & 1000. Mexican pesos in 20's & 50's for tips.. anything else we just used our Visa & MasterCard...

We didn't know until we checked out... They do not except travelers cheques if you want to pay for the wedding fees.... only Visa or cash....

            I know I'm forgetting something...

To all the soon to be brides.... GOOD LUCK. they day goes by really fast so enjoy as much as you can.... :)

Hey ladies, I just returned from an amazing 2 weeks at the GSP resort. To sum it up it was better than I could have ever imagined. I had very little contact with Mara the wedding coordinator prior to arriving, however everything went smoothly. She is highly professional and makes sure everything is taken care of. When we met she had numerous questions and I gave her all my information. We had brought our own photographer so that saves on the cost of the packages at the resort.

When we met with Mara she had mentioned that the original gazebo may be ready by Friday for our ceremony. Naturally i was thrilled because this was one of the main reasons I chose this resort to have our wedding. She said to just let her know as soon as possible what our option would be. On Thursday she called me to ask me about my decision and I surprisingly chose the alternate location.

The reason I chose the alternate location by the "chill out" restaurant was because on that side of the beach it is way less busy and it more private for a wedding. You don't get as many randoms in your pictures. I loved this aspect of it.

For our wedding package we did the Magical package because honestly for the extra $500 just to have a cocktail hour wasn't worth it for us because we were staying at an all inclusive resort and could drink for free anyway. The magical package comes with everything that the Royalty package comes with except the cocktail hour. I had my mother in law do my hair on my wedding day so therefore I re-scheduled another hair appointment at the spa for when my husband and my date night. The resort was very accomodating as were they when we re-scheduled our massage appointment.

It states that you get everything the day after, but we rescheduled everything to accomodate our schedule and it worked out perfectly.

The wedding day - our ceremony was at 2:00 p.m. our pick up cart was a little late, however we still arrived roughly on time. I wore stiletto pumps for the ceremony and would advise that if its windy to walk slowly as my dress got swept under my feet and I ended up stepping on it part way down the aisle. No one noticed as I just stopped and tried not to make a scene. The judge did not speak very good english which would be my only downfall, however my guests thought she was fine. The judge had also forgot that we were doing our own wedding vows so we had to remind her at the end of the ceremony that we were doing so. So there was a bit of a 'blip' there. No big deal though. I had a fairytale of a wedding and felt like a bride celebrity for all the random pics I was getting by strangers and all the attention I got as well.

Our dinner was not until 8 p.m. at La Fondue. So between the ceremony and pictures my guest and I met at the open lounge in between the two lobby's on the main floor. It was perfect. It is still stunning for pictures and the drinks are free.

Dinner at La Fondue was amazing. We didn't even notice there were other guests in the restaurant with us and had the back part of the restaurant set up reception style. We had a head table that was decorated and the other tables formed a giant "U" so that all our guests could see us.

After dinner we actually went to the sports bar. It was fun.

              The resort in general:

I found the staff more than accomodating. Like I said earlier I felt like a celebrity. Everyone remembered me by name, we were the rowdy group participating in all the main pool activites. I highly recommend doing Coco Bongo if you are into Cirque de Soleil type shows in a jam packed night club. It is definitely a great time.

The resort is massive so be prepared to walk. The rooms are nice, just make sure you have your air conditioning on as we noticed our room was quite humid without it. We took American money down, and someone from the beach had told us that tipping in $5 means more to mexicans that tipping in $1.00 american. She said they actually "lose" money by carrying $1.00 american bills. I thought that was interesting. Money is money, so we ended up exchanging many of our $5.00 and $10.00 quite easily for $1.00. As for the bars and everything and the maid service we preferred to tip in $1.00. At the a la cartes is when we would tip significantly more.

All in all this was an absolutely amazing time and I would do it over and over and over again! if you ladies have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Best wishes to all the future GSP brides!

Yes I did go to the disco twice in two weeks. It was alright. I preferred the open bar area to dance to live music. But the disco was good too for upbeat music like Usher and Rihanna and stuff.

Hiii.. Thanks for the review. Its very helpful.

I have a couple questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with. So i just got off the phone with my travel agent and she said that due to the unfortunate explosion that most airlines are not doing packages for the grand riviera princess side, only to the grand sunset side. So my question is.. Are the sides the same? Can we use all the same facilities? Is there a difference between the sides?  I'm just a little confused. I hope that it doesn't effect the wedding plans :(

Has anyone else run into this problem??
