I am with Harty on that one... I mean, you put all that effort into buying a wedding gown, wear it for one day, dryclean it, or maybe even preserve it on the basis that your daughter may one day wear it....

* let's remember the 70's dresses our mothers wore and saved for us *

why would you get another gown?

I don't get that.

You don't have to do a second dress. I did because I wanted to do my shoot before my wedding, my dress was really heavy and I can't imagine it full of water/sand, and because my DH wasn't ready for me to sell.

You can find a local photographer or go ahead and ask if the resort will take the photos.

The cost for your photog really depends on who it is and how long they stay. I lucked out and booked one who hadn't done a Caribbean wedding before so she did it for the cost of the trip so she could build her portfolio. You'll have to find a photog based outside of the US as we can't go to Cuba.

Abbie had a friend take her TTD photos and I think they are great!

Just as an FYI most dresses are actually washable, so getting it wet won't be problem (unless you have an very delicate fabric like silk). wink.gif A little secret the dress shops don't tell you.

A lot of the dresses are made of synthetics with a fancy name like luster satin; aka polyester/nylon blend.

I am having an AHR and want to wear my dress again for it but I don't want to buy a different dress for my TTD. Is there anyone who wore just one dress and can say from experience that their dress wasn't ruined after the TTD? A second dress is not in my budget but I am really worried about the dress getting ruined and then not having it for my AHR.

Well I want to answer your question about price for a photographer goign down with you...I am doing this after a whole bunch of research and talkign to some photographers who were asking outrageous prices...

Anyways...I am getting a photographer for the wedding she is out of GTA and is charging as follows:

Bride and Groom pay for the travel costs for her to come, plus $500.00 for an editing fee this includes engagement photos, wedding day photos (all day) and a TTD session OR an excursion shoot. Based on others I have seen this is the most inexpensive and you get a bang for your buck! www.shutterbrugs.com

As for buying another dress...I am not sure of this...as I am unsure if I will do a TTD session...I am really unsure as of this point but it depends on your dress and depends what type of shots you want to get...my friend did one but she never immersed herself in the ocean or the pool just got the bottom a lot more dirty from it dragging on the rocks and more dirty ares which is easy to get out.

Good Luck with everything.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
