Thank u girls.

I got stuck inNY cos all trains, buses, flights were canceled due yo the storm. I couldn't get a room in hotel, all were booked took me 1.5 hour to get a cab, than I finally got to my friends place. At the end not even one drop of rain. Now finally on a train going back to Boston.

Glad to hear the storm's not as bad as the news says on the East coast!

Adding to the prices going up... my wedding is in January and all the price lists they send say 2010, and that the price for everything will be going up at least 10% in 2011. So I emailed Riu and said I need to know the prices before I give them a credit card number, and they sent me the 2010 one again. I then emailed them saying I still don't have a price for 2011 and need that before giving any money. She said maybe we will have the price in December. I find that really frustrating and it feels like I'm gonna get screwed by this policy. We haven't put any money down and have not booked yet, we just have a date confirmed. But would another resort be the same? I guess maybe this is what happens when you try to plan something in Mexico!

SCarp when i gave my card and booked the date i received one price list for 2010 that was in may this year and now when my wedding is 3 months away I received another one with higher prices which is also for 2010. I did fight with WC but she told me that prices are subject to change without notice.

So now it about 1000$ more than we planed.

I am just letting you know that they can do what ever they want. But i know for sure it is still much cheaper than to do a wedding here in Boston.

I will advice you to book anyway in order to get the wedding day that you want.

SCarp-I did some research at other hotels and it is still cheaper then most hotels. I'm pretty sure that is why all of sudden prices have gone up. They got a new wedding planning company in July who probably told them their prices were way too low and so they are gradually increasing them to what other resorts are charging. If you get the prices in an email before you book you should be okay, (don't let the 2010 price list be your prices) make sure you write what you want and ask for confirmation of the prices are you should be good. One of the travel agents that works with this website deals exclusively with RIU resorts and their non-contract weddings and that was what she suggested. You could try contracting her, I think her name is Maureen, but I can't remember. The same thing happened at the RIU resort in Jamaica I believe about 8 months ago.

I know it is still definetly going to be cheaper than having it in Houston. I would just love if things were more straight-forward and didn't feel like they were trying to sneak around to get more money! Thank heavens for this forum though because the only thing keeping me excited is hearing how well the past weddings have gone. With the amount of guests complaining about the price and leaving the country, at least I know the ones who go will be happy they went.

Hello fellow Riu Brides

Does anyone know how the tables are set up (or have pics) at chiliis for the semi-private dinner (rectangle, round?) so that I can start thinking of table decor?? Also i know you can purchase addtl. flowers for tables but is there anything that the hotel won't let us use (ie candles, etc?)

here is a link from my site visit with lots of photos of the resort

celestial419 WC told me that they will put tables as you wish. they can do any combinations from square tables that good for 2 people. I am thinking to put those 2 together and make a table for 6 or you can put 4 tables together = 8 people or make a really long ones.

vlvetter7 what s your schedule like for weekends?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
