Jannae, I thought you would like to know this info. I heard from Ael about using outside photographer.

What she said the guest pass for one day for him will be $100 plus $200 (the $200 is a penalty fee for using an outside photographer) so in total $300! this seems crazy. so looks like even if we pay for Daniel Aguilar's stay at the Riu I would still have to pay the $200 penalty fee. I am emailing her asking for more clarification will let you know what she says.

Also I was not able to get any earlier dinner time than 8:30pm, whatever I wont stress over it, I will just have a cocktail hr with the mariachi band and then do the dinner at 8:30 pm. Right now I just see $$$ flying but I guess a wedding does cost a lot at the end of the day.

Sammysgirl now that I think of it I should have said the same, pls let me know how it works out with your photographer and if you can get away not paying the extra amt!

Also where are you having your dinner and what time? just curious since the only option Ael is giving me is the brazilian restaurant.

I didn't mention that we had a photographer, since he was a hotel guest for 4 days. At the meeting the wedding coordinators didn't seem to care at all. They asked if I wanted the photographer and i said "no i have a friend who will take pictures" and they moved on to the next question, they didn't even blink.

Regarding the legal day- ours was fun: we went to city hall and both wore suits (i had a feminine white pinstripe skirt suit). We had our parents, grandparents and siblings. We didn't actually sign any paperwork but we said vows and exchanged rings. Then we popped champagne and went out to a fun dinner. It had a wedding-y feel to it, but i PROMISE you that it didn't make the actual wedding in mexico any less special. I think it added to the excitement!

Thanks for the honeymoon link Samira! I'm going to make that my mission to do this weekend. I cannot believe the inconsistencies of this resort. So frustrating. I have an email not from Ael, but the first contact gal that says if the photog is a guest, no fee applies. I would love to hear how it goes Sammysgirl, with you not saying anything about yours!

I would be more willing to do that, but ours is only staying the night... confused and a little pissed.... I already had to pay more per night for her only staying one night. Oh well, as you said Samira, wedding=money.

I well def. let you girls know how my meeting goes with Ael, I am planning to say exactly what Kimmy said. I will let you know if there is an extra charge or anything, but I plan to fight it tooth and nail if she tries to make us pay extra because we are paying for our guy to be there for 3 nights!

Hi Everyone!

hope you are all doing well

Katie your pictures are awesome-- very excited!

Sammysgirl - please do let us know how it goes with the outside photographer business...

I'm starting to freak out because when i originally asked them they said it was $100 outside fee per person, so $200 total.. not a big deal.. but now with all these added penalty fees.... its totally adding up! i have already booked and paid my deposit with Moments that Matter Photography based in Playa del Carmen so they don't need a room at the resort.. but i definitely DO NOT want to pay the 200 pentaly plus 100 or whatever it is for each them. I'm hoping to play dumb and just bring the email that Ael originally sent and say thats what you told me thats what i am paying... fingers crossed.

I'm also completely frustrated because my FI's family is being very reluctant about going to Mexico now.. saying they were afraid of the violence and that it wasn't a real wedding since its not legal. And to complicate matters even more me and my FI are going to Thailand in 2 weeks for our Thai blessing ceremony so people are like ohh well then you are already married.......

its just frustrating.

anyways hope you are all doing well.. take care!

Hi, I've been reading through this thread after I heard such good things about RPRM. Originally I was thinking of Iberostar Rose Hall in Jamaica, but they have been terrible at getting back to me and my TA. If any of the RPRM brides could provide me with a very general budget for their wedding, I would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to pm me. I think I'm ready to make the switch to Mexico :) Best of luck with all your weddings.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
