Top teir of your cake

Recommended Posts

We're not to fond of the 1 layer cake in the options our resort includes. We have no problem spending the money for a larger, nicer cake. I contacted our WC at the Excellence and she told me they could easily do a smaller 2 tier version of the cake I like-I thought this was great because we would keep the top tier. But now I've started thinking- would we be able to bring it home? Would the airlines allow that? I know they don't allow any outside food/drinks on th planes so I'm kinda worrying about spending the additional money if it's just going to go to waste.

Has anyone brought their top tier home?

I don't know how you would go about keeping the top tier from a DW. I know my resort (Karisma) won't even let you take the cake back to your room after the wedding, some sort of food safety B.S. rule.

You can bring food on to an airplane, it's getting it past security that might be an issue. But Mexico security is nothing like US security.

I was just wondering this a couple days ago. I asked my WC and she did tell me that they will help me to box the top tier of my cake. And I am assuming that since this is something they normally do, that US customs must allow it or she would've told me that. And I also looked up on the US Customs website and like already mentioned it only says no raw vegetables, fruits, and that kind of thing. So, I will be boxing mine up and taking it home with me. I know I could get a replica but if I can help it at all, I want to bring my actual top tier home with us. But I guess I'll know for sure once I go to get on the plane :)

I think I would much rather have the real top layer than pay to get a replica made. especially if I'm going to be paying extra to get another tier so I can bring my cake back home.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
