What's a good engagement gift?

One of my close friends just got engaged and I want to get her a little something special, but can't think of anything! A friend of mine bought me a really cute manicure set when I got engaged. It came in a handy little hard and clear carry case, and it had the nail clippers, toe clippers, side-nail clippers, lotions, creams, files and a few nail polishes in it. I searched ALL frigging over this past week to find something like that, cuz I use it all the time, but found nothing anywhere! Not even Ulta, Sally's, Macy's, Claire's, Boscovs, Bath & Bodyworks, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.

Anyone have any other really cute ideas? Anything that you received that came in handy? Anything that you didn't get and wish you had?

wow all i got was flowers from one of my aunts sad.gif no one got me any cool gifts!

i was thinking tho that maybe a gift card to a hair place or nail place or something nice like that, would be along the same lines as a manicure set, only she would just go do it instead of own it??

When I was engaged last time (!) my ex and I got a gift certificate for movies at a nearby theatre. It was fun - we got to go out together to two movies and get snacks, etc. It made for 2 fun date nights out.

I also got some kitchen things from an aunt for our "house" (which we didn't have at the time) and a nice photo album and address book, for us to start using together.

I'd love a spa gift, but that's not really for the girl and guy...

Another option would be to get them some kind of nice decorative house gift.

It doesn't have to be for the guy too, this gift is about the girl for me. Since we've been friends for almost 20 years, and I've only known him while they were together. This is just about me giving a gift to her.

Since Jac, got engaged near Christmas, I got her a personalized Christmas ornament, it was cute! But it's a bit far from Christmas to do that. Or is it? Perhaps I will just do that!

car i really liked what you gave me. she got me the cutest xmas tree ornament. it had two cute lil bears, the girl sitting on a chair, and the boy kneeling holding a ring to her, with our names and date we got engaged on it. i think maybe you got mine based on the time of year (early dec- hence xmas ornament) but i still think that is a cute gift, no matter what time of year. they will always have a xmas tree around the holidays.

if not that, maybe a cute pair of undies with "Mrs. XXX" on them. I have a pair of them too and I love them. A personalized frame, ?? smile78.gif

Hmmmm... let's see...

my fav gifts to receive are really nice candles (Pacifico, Archipelago, etc.), Thymes has some great bath salts/milk bath soaks, a nice bottle of wine...

My fav gift from our E-Party was this:

Z Stemmed Martini Glasses

Also, fun wine charms are neat. Tami (foxytv) got me some cool ones for the Secret Santa last year. They have little sayings like "To your health", "Bottoms Up" and "Cheers" (among others). So now every time we have ppl over we have them choose their "saying of the night" and whenever they say it everyone has to toast and reply with their own saying (and of course take a sip!). It's really fun :)

In that case, you have tons of excellent possibilities here! :)

When my BFF got engaged a few months ago, I made a basket filled with: tons of bridal magazines, a wedding planning binder, a ring holder (really nice & inexpensive Lenox one at BB&B), champagne and a wedding picture frame & album.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
