I just made my first alterations appointment for Aug 22. I have a series of 3 or 4 appts, spaced 2 weeks apart.

I'm really losing my interest in using them for my placecards, I really don't know what to do...plus I have to order more of them.
I am doing starfish place card holders! I got mine off of ebay and they are all pretty much the same size. I'm printing the names on cards stock and then using somesort of craft knif to cut them to size, with a ribbon to attach them to the starfish.

On that note, is a starfish place holder also a wedding favor? I really haven't thought anything about favors....

I was going to attach like tags to our favors with the guests names on them so they would double as place cards, but changed my mind. I got little boxes that the favors will go in, and the guests name is on the outside of the box, but I am going to put them on the guestbook table for them to grab.

Come to think of it, I don't think I took pics of the boxes!

ok, so now i keep thinking about favors....

is it tacky not to do a "favor"? every wedding i've been to lately it's been a little box of candy - which I love since I have a huge sweet tooth - but really I don't want to bring anything extra down to mexico...

so what do you think. tacky to not have favors?

I am not doing favors. They are all getting a nice OOT bag full of wonderful stuff so I don't think a favor is necessary. Everyone always forgets them anyways.. unless they are food they eat right away! Heh.

I was away all weekend so got nothing wedding related done.. except handed out a couple of invitations :)

I vote not tacky at all either. I'm doing little brown favor boxes (which i bought at michaels for pretty cheap) filled with blue jordan almonds. Our colors are blue and brown. Come to think of it, maybe I can get inspiration from what "Ethrondson" said, have their names on the little boxes and have them double as placecards and favors!! I have to think it through for a bit and see how I can do that.

I may not do the starfish after all...I can see all of FI's dumb friends leaving them behind, after I paid all that money for them, etc....so I'll bring the ones I do have and use them as decorations.

I found this just now, not a bad idea..simple but cute:

Click the image to open in full size.

- Purchase one kraft box per guest at your wedding (remember to include your attendants and yourselves!). For orders of 250 or more - try these from packagingsupplies.com. For smaller orders - try these at papermart.com.

- Assemble the boxes and fill with choclates, nuts, soaps - whatever.

- Use lengths of ribbon (the actual length will depend on the size of your box) to tie around your box. Tie a loose knot.

- Create placecards from cardstock and a Word or Photoshop program OR purchase some from Martha Stewart Crafts at Michael's (use your 40% off coupon!).

- Punch a hole in the upper lefthand corner of each placecards and attach to boxes.

- Place appropriate box at each placesetting.

- Enjoy!

Tough-O-Meter: Can listen to your future in-laws bicker over the remote and still make it come out cute!

I haven't made a decision on this one either. I want to see if the WC would be able to purchase something Mexico reltaed like mini bottles of tequila, or the maracas in Mexico for cheaper or at least the same price of what I would pay for those items here. This way she can them for me, and I wouldn't have to lug more stuff down there, and not have to worry about finding something when we get there. I don't think it is tacky to not have favors. Most people don't remember to grab them when they leave, or never use it so I think it really ends up being a waste more than anything.

OMG - What a way to put me in check!! OH CRAP - SEVEN - 7 paydays till we are in Mexico! I get paid the day before the wedding - but that doesn't count. OM FREAKING GOD I AM TOTALLY FREAKING OUT OVER THIS!!! It is going to come faster than I think!!

Nah - it's not tacky! I'm not doing favors for my AHR. The people who attend the Mexico wedding are getting HOOKED UP! Everyone else gets food and a slideshow of what they missed!

EXACTLY - The OOT bags are loaded - why do more? I really shouldn't talk here because we are having one other little favor of palm tree boxes filled with M&M's. I HAD to do it though! FI gave me my e-ring in a bag of M&M's. It's symbolic to no one else but us and the kids - but it's us. blush2.gif
I am just going to put them on a table with a poem in a frame.

OKAY - so I called FI and told him about 7 pay days. He laughed at me!
OMG - I have to get myself in gear here. We are having a bridal party assembly day on August 16th. We need to get the invites out. I have them doing a bunch of DIY stuff too like flip flops, luminaries, programs and tears of joy packets.

He is so laid back. I e-mailed my WC and she said we could line the aisle on beach with palm fronds. YAY!! I also got our friend who is a caterer lined up to help us for our AHR. He had some great ideas for food.

I feel like I am rambling...I am still in shock over 7 pay days.........

I was off work the last couple of days and wow look at all the posts i missed.

Jessica - i really like the fg dress. really cute. and i like the favor boxes you posted. Simple but really cute.

Michelle - my dress shop said to make a dress alteration appointment for early Sept. I'm still (trying) losing weight so i'm in no hurry!

Erica - glad you got the fans, i really like the turqoise ones.

Celina - the m&m favors sounds so sweet, love that they have meaning to you guys. And great idea for a assembly part. i need to schedule one of them!!!

so this weekend, i ordered my wedding band. unfortunately the guy has my ering for a while, he's going to make a band that fits nicely with my ring. It's so hard, because i don't really know exactly what its going to look like till it's done. fi also ordered his, well we are still waiting for prices before we tell him to go ahead and make them.

Well some of my files aren't saved, i know that for sure. But luckily i just happend to print them out two days before my computer broke so at least i can just redo them by following the copy. so that's good news!

Oh and i don't think it's tacky not to do favors, especially if your doing oot bags. i would consider that a favor if i got one. We are doing favors, we're doing mini photo albums. we are handing our oot bags out ahead of time so really i only have to lug the favors, programs and menus done with me (i'm sure i'll think of more stuff later)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
