Martha, I love your furniture! I can only imagine how stressful registering in. I seriously walk in Babies R Us to buy shower presents for people and get stressed out because it's so overwhelming!

 

I'm sorry to hear about the "no dessert" rule...maybe cut down to 3 or 4 times a week

Martha - I love the furniture and bedding!! We actually looked at that bed style, but was concerned about the back being solid and not being able to tie the bumper to it. James said if we bought it we could just attached with velcro. I'm sure you can make it work. Did you think about it at all when you guys were looking at it? Just wondering if I'm the only freak that thinks about everything.

 

We also looked at the ocean type of bedding. I love it!!! I can't wait to see Noah's room.

 

As far as registering - - I took my friend with me. I had no clue and did not want to subject James to the torcher. We went through every aisle and I just got everything that she suggested and loved. Made it very easy for me.

 

That's funny that Noah doesn't like the left side. I don't think Luke has a preference. I have started to feel body parts though when he moves. It's crazy!! It's alot more than just a kick here and there. Like he's big enough now to where I can feel the leg or head.

Jay would not let the 3 or 4 days fly, but we are going this weekend, maybe I can get some sugar free stuff!

OMG...I didn't even think about that!!! We will have to figure something out. My mom is creative, I am sure she can think of something.

I think we felt an elbow or foot or knee or smething the other day, it was round. Or felt round anyhow. I think I already told you guys that!

They have little sticker things (think band-aid) that you can put over your belly button if it pops and you don't like it.. lol funny but true

I'm thinking Noah "likes" your left side and that's why he kicks.. he gets more oxygen when you're on your left (or so they say). That's why if you haven't felt the baby in awhile you should lay on your left side (or switch positions if already there). My baby girl loves it, she also loves brownies and ice cream. lol (both make her kick like crazy)

Love the bedding! and LOVE the furniture! We also didn't go with a solid frame because we wanted to use bumpers (at least at first before she squirms to the outside then we may remove). We did the fingernail thing too on the beds in the store to see how soft the wood was and to see if it scratched easily. Beautiful stuff!

I did a majority of my registry online based on reviews and suggestions from the BDW moms.. I used it like a shopping list for myself but then added items when we went into the store. I think our wedding registry was tougher because at least this stuff is "for the baby" and not just me and my DH. lol

I've pretty much stayed out of this thread because there's just so much I could say but usually don't have time.

 

But, I have to comment on the circ thing... it's a very personal decision that is passionately fought on either side. But, it's a personal choice. End of story. There are alot of things that are done differently in the US than in other parts of the world, but that's the great part about living in the US. Choice.

 

Most of you know I'm an OB RN. I work in Labor & Delivery, and I'm also a Special Care Nursery Nurse. I assist with circs. All of our babies are given lidocaine and a sucrose-dipped paci (which btw, non-nutritive sucking is found to be a much stronger analgesic than pain medication, do some research on it- it's really interesting, esp. for those of you that might be against pacis). Then the babies are given Tylenol for pain and the circ wound dressed with cold vaseline (also for pain relief) and gauze. So to say that they're not given anything for pain is completely false. Is it pleasant? Nope. Is it natural? Nope. Would I have my own child circumcised? Yes. Why? It's a personal choice. Do I think people that aren't circumsized or against circumcision are wrong? Nope. But I'd like to see the facts straight on both sides

 

To me there are so many things that are "unnatural" that technically are on the same line as circumcision- and if you want to go with the "babies are perfect just the way they're born" notion- what about babies with defects that can be corrected with surgery? What about cleft lip/palate babies? Are they perfect? Would it be better to leave them in their natural state? In many parts of the world where there isn't access to medicine people are left that way. I think those that get to have the surgery would probably say they are much better off. Totally not the same thing as a circumcision, but definitely my favorite rebuttal to the notion that babies are born perfect. Unfortunately not.

 

So to those of you that won't circumsize. Kudos to you for standing up for something you believe in. And to those that will, the same. It's a decision between you, your s/o, and in the future, your child. It's no one else's business. Don't let anyone make you feel bad no, despite your choice.

I did use the advise of the ladies on here as well. I started my registry on-line and had several items I knew I wanted for sure on there. But as far as other things like bath stuff and pacifiers....I had no clue.

Lisa, I have heard the Nuk pacis are great. I bought 2 packs, but Jay is hoping we wont need them. Ha! We will see!

I turned down turtle cheesecake at dinner. Yay me!

I am kinda stressed about the crib/bumper thing. I can't believe I didn't think about that! I know we will figure something out, but I seem to worry about everything now!

So, maybe Noah does like the left side? I just thought he didn't like it because he moved so much. You explanation makes better sense, CheeseDiva!

I think I might have registered for those pacis. I know I put 2 different ones on the list.

And don't stress about the crib. Seriously. We were going to get one like that, but we found one we liked better. We were just going to do the velcro thing. The bumper is not going to be on there forever anyways.

I'm proud of you for turning down dessert. It's so hard to do. I never ate dessert before, so that is one of my fav parts of being pregnant.

Ugh...4 pairs of pants did not button for me this morning as I was rushing to get ready for work. I finally found a pair that fit, but now I'm not sure what to do. I have maternity pants (that Mike's sisters sent to me), but they're too big on me and I'm only 3 months. Do I go out and buy the next size up in regular clothes? I really don't want to waste money on clothes I'll probably never wear again, but I have nothing to wear!!!

 

When did you girls start wearing maternity clothes? What did you wear in the in-between stage?
