J Lo's Push Gift

Christine

I never heard of "push gift" but my girlfriend shannon has gotten jewelry for each of her three kids. It wasn't expected, just something her husband did as a thank you and became tradition as each new kid arrived. I think it's really sweet. I guess it's like anything else, the more money you have, the less outrageous the price tag is to you.

I wouldn't pay $100 for a t-shirt but lots of women wouldn't think twice. :)

ditto. i'm just not really a material present type of girl though. and honestly, i buy myself my own presents! i much rather he buy the baby something than me.

Celebrities don't always donate the proceeds from their pics. Actually all of them use to keep it. But then Angelina and Brad donated their money to charity so it kind of set a precendent and now makes other celebrities look bad if they don't do it as well. Christina and Nicole did not donate to charity. However, when the rumors were spreading that Jlo was getting a 6 million dollar payday her rep said that "jennifer and marc will be probably donating some portion to charity". Clearly if they had any intention of donating it to charity they would have said do. Instead they kept it for themselves.

All of my friends and my sisters have gotten "push presents", but I think it's a relatively new concept b/c my mom had no idea what it was. I look at the Tiffany catalog and jokingly point out to Mike possible push presents...lol!

miss Manners needs a book to let us know what's the "standard" for these gifts. It just seems silly......especially if she had a C Section!

I actually think its an old tradition that went away for a while, because if you watch old movies or movies set a long time ago the men always come in the room once everything is all cleaned up and give their wife a gift (oh and she always looks perfectly put together)

That's interesting, I guess I just never noticed it before.

I have no idea why I ever noticed it, but I think it was always something more for rich people. I kinda think that my DH should at least get me some flowers for my room, but don't expect anything else.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
