Crazy isn't it? I work as a news reporter and get this, a bride getting set to fly to her destination wedding in Hawaii -- wedding dress in one arm -- arrives at LAX this morning only to find out ATA basically no longer exists. How awful!! She was devastated ~ I felt so horrible for her, I can't even imagine what I would have done.

So now hundreds of people who thought they were going somewhere today on ATA airlines are left scrambling for other travel options and of course are forced to dish out more money if they are intent on traveling today!

Now for any of you who have ATA reservations or flights the following may apply to you as far as getting your money back ( I had to report on this story this morning so hopefully this helps some of you out and again it totally sucks ~ I'm sorry!!!):

ATA customers who purchased tickets by credit card were advised to

contact their credit card company or travel agency directly for information on

how to obtain a refund for unused tickets.

Those who purchased ATA tickets with cash or check may be able to obtain

a full or partial refund for unused tickets by submitting a claim in ATA's

Chapter 11 proceedings.

Customers who purchased tickets from Southwest Airlines for flights

operated by ATA under the codeshare agreement were asked to contact Southwest Airlines directly at (800) 308-5037.

Too bad that bride didn't know about BDW! Just kidding! Anyways that really sucks about your tickets but I am glad you got it all worked out. And thank god it happened a little bit before your actual day! Your dads comment totally reminds me of what my dad would say LOL! Glad it is figured out! What a PITA!

I was just about to say I saw the bride story and the no cash refund thing on the news here but you beat me! What station do you work for? (if you can say)

i cant believe that they can just declare bankruptcy and these people are left having to buy new tickets. when i was in mexico this weekend there were familys at the resorts freaking out because they had no way back home and would hve to shell out thousands to get new tickets last minute... thats just SOOO wrong

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
