Anyone else ever been there? had a wedding there? Our wedding is planned for 3/11/09 at Breezes Runaway Bay. We've read some good reviews on tripadvisor and it was suggested to us by 2 different travel agents, but as always, first hand information is appreciated :)

I have been there and saw one wedding on the beach gazebo. it was nice, but the resort is relatively small and has limited activities. It is defintiley a place to go if you want to be able to see your guest everyday as you will always be able to run into them. The beach is wonderfull and the food is okay. The grill has the best food.

I stayed there a few years back and it was a nice resort. It is a small resort, and we took in some excursions off the resort. We also had the option of enjoying the nightclub on the resort. I think it would be a great spot for a honeymoon.

Thanks everybody! That seems to be the consensus, that it's small, but it's very "Jamaica". That's what we're going for, as we've been to other DWs in Mexico and Punta Cana that were at large resorts and, to be honest, they were pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong, they were great... but it's time for something a little bit different :)

Did you get chance to view the property on tripadvisor.com? I believe that website is also a great source of information, because it gives the traveler's perspective (positive and negative) of a destination, resort, staff, etc. Here's a link to their reviews on tripadvisor.com Breezes Runaway Bay Resort & Golf Club (Runaway Bay, Jamaica) - Resort Reviews - TripAdvisor. There is a user name Sdbrantley. She was recently married at Breezes. You should PM her and get her opinion too. Plus, she posted some of her wedding photos on tripadvisor.com. You can also search through their forums too.

Thanks, we have looked at tripadvisor some, but we obviously need to dig a bit further :) We booked the trip, have 22 others booked right now, and are pretty much concentrating on the AHR at this point. Hopefully somebody from TA forums will respond with some first hand experience though.

One of my best friends had her wedding there in Feb 2008. It was beautiful and very intimate. I think there were 30-32 guests there total. We all had to sqeeze into the gazebo because it wasn't very big, but nonetheless we all fit in there. She also was able to have a private cocktail hour and reception off to the side of the gazebo-right there on the beach. They brought in a vendor to put a dance floor right there on the sand!

As far as the actual resort itself, I don't really have any compliants. My favorite part of the trip (aside from the wedding) was the trapeze. I was on that thing practically everyday!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
