Is anyone bringing their own chair covers/sashes? or renting from the resort?

      Hey there,

I am not doing group booking only because what i have found is that you need a certain amount of folks on the same flight going and coming. So most of my friends are coming form all over and all on different dates and airports. So i just posted on our website all the different online places to book vacation packages along with quotes we saw when we researched. I think this is easy enough.

To Soon To Be: If they were my invites, i would definitely redo it. They were free right, so I guess you won't have to pay too much to get them redone

To Shelly: I actually am thinking of bringing my own as $5.00 per bow is expensive when i'm going to need 120. (60 for ceremony and then 60 again for the reception) I can't imagine spending $600 on bows when online you can get them for SUPER Cheap, I'm talking $1 or less per bow. Couple things I'm torn about is 1) that if i do bring them, will they weigh a ton....with all these new restrictions on luggage amount/weight, i don't want to pay extra for luggage. 2) If i bring them with me, will i have to steam all 120 of them???? I can't imagine them not being wrinkled... I can probably see what the resort will charge to steam them, but i definitely don't want to be stuck in a room steaming bows. (Maybe like the organza material won't wrinkle?). I also asked the resort if I brought my own would they charge a set up fee and i was told no...so thank goodness for that.

The resort will send out your stuff for steaming to their laundry room I believe. Atleast that is what they were going to do with my wedding dress (must be a minimum of 24hrs prior) but I was paranoid something would happen to it, so I just ended up putting a pillow case over the dress and ironing it with the iron in the room which worked (weren`t many wrinkles to begin with though). The dress was silk taffeta incase anyone was wondering, I don`t think this would work well with chiffon.

I have a copy of the laundry list receipt prices from the resort and the only item close to a bow would be a hankerchief and they charge $3 for ``normal service`` which I`m assuming is wash and press. So it might be expensive to get the resort to do it unless they can give you a deal to steam them since you have 60.

I have PowerPoint slide pictures my WC had sent me of the different table cloth and chair bow colours they offer if anyone wants to see them. I agree with Ska Ska that they are rather expensive when you can get them online alot cheaper.

We didn't use them, we just used the standard white table cloths and chair covers they already use and we brought our own napkins in our wedding colour.

Thanks DR Bride. I would love to see the ppt and be reminded of the colors they have. i am thinking of the teal bows and maybe an accent for the table or bringing table runners from here.

I've really been looking into the Hard Rock in Punta Cana, its part of Palace Resorts.. the first all-inclusive hard rock!! I spoke to a wedding coordinator and they told me if you have a group contract signed you may receive the private function for free!!

So for the group booking, you just blocked the 10 rooms & whoever wants to do so can and if not they can book their own? What's your financial responsibilities for the room block?I'm waiting for the travel agent to get back to me.

My fiance and I are staying for 2 weeks. We paid in full when we did the group booking, and they applied our full amount as a deposit to hold 10 rooms. Our guests have until the end of March to pay in full, (Our wedding is in November). I also have until the end of March to cancel any held rooms without penalty. Some of our guests cannot make it for the day we picked, so they can also book through our travel agent for another date. Others cannot commit this early so they may book closer to November.

My travel agent is also my aunt so I know she is on my side. Just make sure if you are holding any rooms to ask what is the penalty if they cannot be filled. In my case $400 deposit was able to hold 1 room. ($200pp)

Any brides planning on 'trashing' their dress?

I was thinking about it, but only if it can be cleaned to its original state (or close to) after.

I have asked multiple dress shops if 'trashing the dress' actually ruins it, and they all made a face. I guess they don't like to hear about beautiful dresses getting ruined.
