Oh Danielle, hang in there! Weddings can get so complicated, and it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's got to be difficult hearing that people who said they were coming aren't - I know it's a fear of mine. Try and remember that in the end what really matters is the 2 of you and making sure you guys enjoy your wedding and doing what you want for that day/week. My Fiancé and I started off the process fighting a lot about all the little stuff, even though we said the reason we were having a DW was so we wouldn't hate each other when we tied the knot. We both had to step back and evaluate the whole thing. So I am trying not to let the little things bug me, but it's hard! It's your one day and you want it to be special!

With regards to the AHR, I have no idea what's happening for us. My future in-laws want to host something for us, but they haven't really planned anything yet, and being a planner - it's annoying! They tossed around the idea of a BBQ but then said something about a "fancy thing" at Luxe heritage hotel. I know they're paying for it and I am greatful (although we didn't want any reception at home), but it's our wedding! So We are having them over for dinner this weekend so we can nail them down on something. We're hoping for a fun and casual Backyard BBQ at their home for family and friends that can't make the trip. It's much more "us" than a fancy hotel thing. Give me a hamburger and a beer keg anyday!

Danielle, I am totally with you right now, it goes into vases of what we are fighting about, one day it'll be the lack of people responding or coming. He doesn't even have a best man. In order for him to go get his suite i had to threaten to cancel the wedding, so then he went, but seriously how many times do i have to say the wedding is called off. I am beginning to think not getting married would be just so much easier.

I also wanted to DW to avoid hating each other in the end. I am not sure it's working out this way.

Anyone else double thinking the wedding, or just me?! (out of stress and just so tired of planning)

Danielle and Tracy, I understand what you are going through and I'm so sorry to hear that. I think we are all doing a destination wedding to avoid the stress, we were wrong, there is alot of stress with a destination wedding.

Every time there is something to do : guest booking, suits for the guys etc... I get stressed out but the good news is that once it's check out on the to do list, everything goes back to normal. I like to plan things and do my own research, so it works out good for me, since my fiance dosen't do much either, I guess it's a guy thing. Details are not important for them.

Danielle for your guest booking, that was a big problem for us aswell. I only have 4 family members coming on my side and 25 on my fiance side. My family are saying that they don't have the money either. I really suggest for you guys to get back in your bubble (meaning it is your wedding, you are doing it for you guys) at that point I only asked people to respect my choice of doing a destination wedding, and I will respect they're choice not to come (to avoid any family feud).

and then go look at destination wedding's photos to get back in your mood smile03.gif

awww thanks soo much for your supportive words, they really helped. I just really have to keep in mind it just about the 2 of us no one else. It's why I said lets to DW.
Your right it does feel amazing when you get the check things off the list. When I stress out about something needed to be done I should just go to what I have done list (it's a lot) to keep myself in check and realize it's not that much left and it's almost here!!!! bunny_4.gif

I love it, going to go look at some pics now just to get me in high spirits before bed lol.
Thanks again for your to kind!!! :)

Originally we were thinking of bbq'ing but now I think we'll just do open bar and finger foods. I'm thinking of trying to find a caterer in the area that offers these types of platters...maybe even antipasto type platters? I think if we have the party around 7pm on a Saturday and mention on the invites that appetizers and alcohol will be served that people will eat before they come. Between moving in January and the wedding in April we're so tight on cash we just can't offer a full dinner or pay to rent out a venue.

Carrie,
I like the idea of appetizers and drinks and then everyone can eat beforehand. That's what we are wrestling with... we live in between Montreal and Ottawa. My friends are coming from Montreal but if I have this evening party, it's a long drive home. We wanted the AHR because we didn't think so many would be able to make the wedding. But now we are close to 40 going and that's mostly family! Neither one of us have a big family either.. but my cousins are coming with spouses and kids so that's good. Now to please everyone else at home, we may just call it a garden party and have it in the early afternoon. We want a tent, but there again all of that adds up!

To all the gals fighting with their sweeties... its probably the stress of it all coming to a head. I love planning so I just basically tell my FI what's going on, what I have done so far, etc. He seems pretty cool with it all. I bought the favours and OOT bags over a period of a few months this summer. I told him yesterday... thought it would be best to tell him the stuff is already bought so he wouldn't panic as the money was coming out of the account! Ahhh the things we have to do to keep them calm!

I have a question for any of you ladies who do not have your Dad anymore. My Dad passed away many years ago and I just lost my Mom this summer. That was one of the reasons we wanted to do something totally different for our wedding. A nice change of scenery. I asked the only Uncle I have left to walk me to the beach aisle. Any one have any suggestions for a "uncle-niece" dance? Can't use the father daughter songs, they just don't work for this situation. Any ideas?

for the reception I decided to rent out the local legion ($25) and I am getting a caterer for 70 people the food will cost about $400, I am going to send out postcards as invites for this and instead of sending back an rsvp (wasting more money on stamps) I am getting everyone to call me to rsvp. This way I can tell them it's a pay bar. Since the alcohol is cheap I don't feel so bad (beer 2.50, mix drinks 3, shots 4$) besides the whole fact one of the main reasons the FI finally agreed to go DW was because having a reception in MTL is to expensive. I will buy a few decoration but nothing over the top nothing fancy. No photographer, and the dj will probably be my Ipod lol .

I am saying I will not spend anymore then $600 and that includes a small favour.

I am so sorry to hear about the lost of your parents. I almost lost my father last winter (doesn't mean anything compared to you sorry) It's very nice that you'll get to walk down with your uncle. I will look up some songs today and see what I can come up with for you.

Rascal Flatts' "My Wish"

I really like the words to this song, as it doesn't specify a relationship.

the words :

"I hope the days come easy

And the moments pass slow

And each road leads you

Where you want to go

And if you're faced with the choice

And you have to choose

I hope you choose the one

That means the most to you

And if one door opens to another

Door closed

I hope you keep on walkin'

Til you find the window

If it's cold outside, show the

World the warmth of your smile

But more than anything,

More than anything

CHORUS

My wish for you

Is that this life becomes all that

You want it to

Your dreams stay big,

Your worries stay small

You never need to carry more than you can hold

And while you're out there gettin'

Where you're gettin' to

I hope you know somebody loves you

And wants the same things too

Yeah, this is my wish

I hope you never look back but

You never forget

All the ones who love you

And the place you left

I hope you always forgive

And you never regret

And you help somebody every

Chance you get

Oh, you find God's grace in

Every mistake

And always give more than you take

But more than anything,

Yeah more than anything

CHORUS

CHORUS

This is my wish

I hope you know somebody loves you

May all your dreams stay big"

In My Life" by the Beatles

Hope some of these may help, or get you other ideas.

Let us know what you end up picking

Good song choice Tracy!! Very nice!!!

As for the first dances, I think its whatever you want. You can have your husband's dance with his mom while you dance with your dad, or you can give them their own song, its your wedding its whatever you want.

And I know allll about the DW stress, none of Mike's family is going and his mom is now after us to get "re married" at the reception, she wants us to get a Justice of the peace and re new our vows!! I told him we will be married for a week, I'm not marrying you twice in a week, forget it!! urrrgg she drives meeee!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
