Married or going to be married at Grand Palladium Punta Cana?

Recommended Posts

For me the number one thing was price...I wanted a 4.5-5 star resort that was under $1500. And for all of my guests departure cities, that was really the only resort in Punta Cana in April that met that criteria. Also, they have a good reputation for beautiful weddings and they also are known as kind of a "fun" resort...I have a lively bunch of 40 people coming and they are NOT the sit around and be relaxed/quiet for 7 straight days type of people.

What other resorts are you considering?

Ladies, for those of you who have already had your wedding, how was the make-up application at the spa (if you got it done there)? I am pretty sure I'll be doing my own but in case I change my mind last minute, thought I'd ask. From the pics, everyone's make-up has looked beautiful...my concern is more the products they use. I have rather sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts if the appropriate make-up isn't used so that would be a concern for me. Any advice?

Another question for past brides...

I was told at a travel clinic that we need to take prophylactic anti-malaria pills. Does anyone know if the resorts spray for mosquitoes? We are trying to decide if I should take them or not, and if I take them if we postpone our TTC plans.

You don't need malaria pills...you only need malaria pills if you expect to be inland for a prolonged period of time (a day excursion does not count). Along the coast, at resorts you are fine. We've been to Punta Cana twice and never had any problems as have many others I've known. Been to a travel clinic twice myself before going and they never told me we needed anything for malaria. Hep A and B vaccines are a good idea though but again, up to you - they're not mandatory.

Hello Fellow Brides!

Does anyone know if there are any additional fees besides purchasing the day pass for bringing onsite an oustide local photographer and videographer (so he will not be staying on the resort)?

We are thinking of hiring a photog for 3pm-7pm as our ceremony is booked for 4pm.  Also for the photog to deliver the photos a few days after the wedding - does anyone know if I'll have to buy another day pass?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info richarsd!! I knew someone on this forum would be able to help!

Natalie...I don't know about the Royal site bars. I know the Bavaro side does have a swim up bar. I would assume Royal does too, but don't quote me on that one!

tomato1...you may want to double check when the day pass ends, and the night pass time begins. If it overlaps with when you want your photographer you may end up needing to buy two passes. Also, Carolina keeps telling me that while right now my ceremony is scheduled for 4pm when we get there it could be at a completely different time. I haven't heard of that happening for anyone, but she did tell me that.

Hope everyone's planning is going well! We leave next week and I'm getting so excited!!!

Tomato01 - You will need TWO passes for your photographer based on the times you've given. Anything before 6 pm is $60 and anything after is another $60.

Natalie1987 - The Royal Suites has a swim-up bar...all the pools at all four resorts have pool bars. Also, the Royal Suites pool is adults only!

If I were to book in the Royal, I'd stay in the new section. Its more updated and has more of a "romantic" feel then the old section. We decided to stay in the same section as our guests since it'd be pointless to pay extra and spend most of our time outside of the Royal section. Enjoy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
