Lizzy's Dreams Tulum Review

This is going to be a pretty short review. Mag wants to do a full review so this is the Mother of the Bride's perspective.

Dreams Tulum: A+

I cannot even tell you what a wonderful time we had at this resort! When Buzz and I arrived it was around 8:30 pm. We were told that we had been upgraded to a suite. Yippee! Then the man at the desk picked up the phone and made a call. He told the person at the other end of the line that "The Di Marcos have arrived." Some of our party had been asking about us so he decided to make an announcement that we were finally there! Very nice indeed! Our bell capton took us out on the balcony of the lobby to show us exactly where our room was. I thought that was really nice because he suggested we rest at the lobby bar with a cocktail (or three) before we go to our suite. The suite was lovely and very clean. My only complaint about the room is that the pillows are extremely hard. I suggest you bring your own from home. You want to be well rested and not have a neckache for your wedding!

Sugar Reef Bar: A. Thursday night. Great outside bar (with covering for inclement weather). We invited all of our guests to join us for an informal get to know each other after dinner, evening. There was live music for dancing and listening pleasures. The bar is set up like a lounge with small sitting areas. It is right next to the beach. The wait and bar staff were very friendly and accomodating

El Patio: A. Friday afternoon. This is the Meican restaurant in the resort. Again, this restaurant is located outside. It was here that I hoasted the luncheon for the bridesmaids. With Tadd's mom, Gran, and God Mother, Mag's maids and her personal attendant, there were eight of us. It was fun to have just the ladies in attendance! At the end of the meal I had our server bring each of us a glass of champagne in saud of the ladies who were standing beside Maggie as she married Tadd.

Sea Side Grill: A+. Friday evening. Unbelievable service from Joachim and his staff. This restaraunt is at the south end of the resort and affords the most privacy. Bob and Mary, Tadd's folks, rented the retaurant out for a private welome dinner . We had a choice of chicken or sur and turf. I chose the surf and turf. The filet mingon was butter-knife tender with a bernaise sauce and the shrimp was

broiled and seasoned beautifully. I don't remember what the desert was. Oh yes I do, it was tres leche cake and it was great. It was very moist but no soaking with liquid. Nummmm! We had toasts and roasts and tons of fun. And, Mary got Sandra at Dreams to reduce the price of the day pass to only $25/per person!! She was wonderful. My son Josh and his family were the only off resort guests...maybe that is why she did this.

Spa: B. I only went to the spa for a mani. It was ok. The Spa itself is very pretty and sooo relaxing. The personal attendant had a couple of mesages done and totally felt they were worth the money.

On Saturday around 11AM all of the ladies involved in the wedding moved down to the Ana Y Jose Beach Club to get ready for the big event! It was gorgeous. But I will let Maggie tell you about that part of the trip. All I will tell you is that Jackie, the WC, worked along with our little bride, and saw to it that all of Mag's dreams were fulfilled! Wait til I get a photo of the cupcakes!

So there you are.Dreams Tulum was the best place I have ever stayed! I cannot wait to go back!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
