Buenaventura Wedding?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Having a tight budget, I spent A LOT of time trying to figure out where to get married that's nice, but affordable. In the end I chose the Buenaventura and went with their wedding package.

I realize there are nicer choices, but as I said, we don't want to spend a fortune, so this seemed like a good 'middle of the road' choice.

I just want to know if anyone is getting married there, has gotten married there, or seen a wedding there, and can tell me a bit about it, share some photo's, or tell me what to expect.

I understand the hotel is going through renovations right now, so they should be all done and the place looking nice when we get there in March!

We looked into Buena Ventura and thought it was a great deal, just close to town and near the malecon. It is being renovated or is done so the upgrades should be nice. We opted for it's sister property - Villa Premeire only because we are having a small wedding. But we are recommending the place to guests who want a more economical option. The wedding coordinator and staff have been great so far, very helpful and accomodating - Susana and Fabiola.

I've been to both Buenaventura and the Villa Premiere. We spent out honeymoon in October 07 at the Buenaventura and although there was lots of constructions going on we felt that it was a great choice for a honeymoon. It's a smaller resort so it seems it's more on a personal level. For instance the servers and bartenders all knew us as the newly weds and would joke/visit with us constantly. We also met some other guest staying at the resort and had dinner with them a night or 2 and made a huge volleyball tournament with all the guests at the resort. So much fun.

The location is key with this resort being so close to the malecon and be sure to bring your walking shoes! The rooms are already renovated and are nice and clean.

hammocks on the beach! Very nice touch and super relaxing.

The Premier on the other hand is more elite and a 5 star I would say. Much more quiet and laid back. The pool was never busy when we were there. The food is amazing though and totally take advantage of the spa services. Sorry i don't have any photos of this resort, that was back in the day of non-digital cameras lol

if you have any questions I could help out with, feel free to PM me

Rosa - if you could post pictures when you get back, that would be terrific!

There are soooo many hotels in PV, it's impossible for me to choose one sight unseen. We're going to head down in November around Veterans day (when Rosa's getting married!) to scout out officially, and I'd like to check out both of these properties. We may have some kids, so if they're neighboring it woudl be really convenient and give our guests a range of price points without completely stretching everyone out...

I just got back from PV and originally we were going to have our wedding at the Buenaventura and we ended up switching locations. First off, dealing with the wedding coordinator was a nightmare! Second, when we showed up the hotel was nothing like the pics on the website. The pool area and beach is nice, but the inside of the hotel is not at all what we expected. We ended up switching to the Presidente Intercontinental. The resort is beautiful and the coordinator is great! The wedding package is $500 and the rooms are pretty affordable too. I have pics of both hotels, pm me if you have any questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
