  1. @@Bride2Be2017 that's so great to hear! Can't wait to see the pics! I loved the ballroom terrace and was so upset to learn that it's not really an official wedding space because we would have picked that too. Did you get to have your makeup or hair trial? The wedding gazebo is gorgeous! Do you know where you're going to do your cocktail hour? @@Kcusack89 Oh no! I understand what you mean though, you won't be able to really enjoy it with the storm going on and since it is in a state of emergency its kind of risky. Will the airline give you a credit tho if you tell them that the resort is I'm a state of emergency?
  2. Yeah, maybe I have the wrong packet I don't know. I tried to upload it here but I can't figure out how to. I'm glad your going soon so you can ask all your questions in person. Your location is going to be nice, it wasn't available for my date so I'm on the decks. @@Bride2Be2017 Welcome back! How was your trip? Have you decided one way or another about the resort?
  3. @@Kcusack89 the buffet seems pretty limited though so we may actually go with the plated option since that was what we tried. We were under the impression at our tasting that we get more than the one option so I just asked my coordinator about it because I feel like 1 dish doesn't really make sense. And I know they can take special requests for food allergies so hopefully they let us use more than 1. Also, does your menu say an addition 25% charge for the menu prices? i don't see any prices listed so I'm super confused. Is your reception outside? Mine is and I just realized they charge $25pp for a set up fee? Do you know anything about that?
  4. @@Kcusack89 I chose 2 dishes from each section so 2 apps, 2 entrees and 2 desserts and I asked to taste a dish from the Buffett menu. But now that I'm looking at the menus I'm kind of confused. I'm doing the lavish and opulent package which comes with the Buffett but I didn't realize that before so I wish I would have tried more from that menu if I decide to stick with that.
  5. @@Bride2Be2017 thanks for the tip! You're gonna love the resort! While I was there I also visited the Iberostar, it was also fabulous so when we got back we spent a few days trying to figure out which one was "the one" lol. I'm using Clair Skies Travel, Claire is amazing and has helped me with more than just travel so far. She's based in the DC area so it's easy to reach her since I'm I'm the area as well. Enjoy your trip!
  6. @@Bride2Be2017 That's great that you were able to reserve your date and book a trip so soon! The problem some of my guests have is with the prices of the rooms and the fact that there is a $100 fee for the day pass for guests who are not staying at the resort. My day pass price is $100 they discounted my rate because I had some issues with the wedding staff early on but it is normally $125. My travel agent was also able to discount my rates to the 55% off which helps! I stayed at the Ziva in March and didn't have any problems and the visit was what made us choose the resort, I loved it before we went but I loved it even more after seeing it in person. During that trip we stayed at and toured 2 other resorts that were were debating on and in comparison to the other 2 the Ziva definitely stood out for us and I could see myself walking down the aisle there. We were on the main floor which apparently is actually the 3rd floor of the resort so I can't really speak about the elevators because we didn't need them throughout our stay. But we did use the elevators on the side where the sky deck is and those seemed to work fine. That part of the resort is also brand new so all the rooms on that side are new. We didn't stay in an updated room but I thought the accommodations were still very nice. We did ask to see an updated room while we were there and it was really beautiful, my pictures aren't the greatest but I'll attach them anyway. I didn't notice any paint peeling in my room or throughout the resort but I also wasn't really looking for it so I can't really speak on that. My A/C and everything else in the room worked fine. As far as the reviews, there are very few negative reviews and I did ask my travel agent for a review from one of her former brides who got married last year and that bride loved the resort as well so I feel like with the bad reviews you have to take them with a grain of salt and just see for yourself. The service was also so amazing! I saw a review on Tripadvisor that complained about the service but I thought they were all very attentive during my stay. As far as room types, to my understanding the Zilara rooms are all updated becasue that part of the resort is new. The "junior suites" at the Ziva are the updates ones where as the standard suites are the rooms from when the resort was the Ritz. I just asked my travel agent to clarify though so I'll let you know what she says. As far as Donna Dally, I found her on fb and messaged her, she responded and was supposed to e-mail me but I haven't heard from her and its been a few weeks. Also, I messaged @@jjbrown and she said that she cannot recommend her after her experience so you may not want to book her.
  7. Hi @@smw39, The Hyatt Zive Rose Hall is really nice! Not sure what your budget is for your guests but they are having a 55% off deal right now that my travel agent was able to match so maybe check that out. Its all inclusive and they have both an adults only and family friendly side!
  8. Oh yeah, I know what you mean. When I did the preview, I thought it was all set but my coordinator walked me over to the salon to schedule the appointment while I was there even though I thought it had already been set. I didn't do the hair trial, just the makeup.
  9. That's a really good idea! I was considering just giving them something else to hold since flowers can be expensive and wasteful but we'll see. Who is your coordinator? I guess since I had problems early on my coordinator Julienne has made sure to be responsive so that I don't complain lol.
  10. My problem with their centerpiece and flower packet is that everything is so pricey! I'm bringing some of my own stuff but looking at outside florists as well for my bridesmaid bouquets. I figure I wont have to pay the outside vendor fee if I just have someone pick them up or if I pick them up myself.
  11. @@Kcusack89 I'm glad I'm not the only one hearing complaints. It's been so irritating that at this point I've just been telling people it's fine if they don't stay there because I'm tired of the complaints. It's too late in the game at this point to switch resorts.
  12. @@TheBHolders at the wedding you went to, did the couple have any guests who stayed outside of the resort? If so, did they all have to pay the fee or were they able to get around it?
  13. Hi ladies, Anyone hearing concerns or complaints about the fee our guests have to pay to attend the wedding if they are not staying at the resort?
  14. @@Johnsonspartyof2 I'm stopping at the site. My fiancé isn't on Facebook and a lot of his family isn't on it either so we're Just doing the site, I think it makes the most sense for us
  15. Hi @@Johnsonspartyof2, I used weddingwire and it was pretty simple to use. I started using the knot but I liked the different templates that wedding wire had instead. I did send out a more detailed save the date because of all the information that our guests need and so far no one has really asked me many questions, they have called my travel agent so i think it was helpful to have that info on there too. I'm doing all of my RSVPs online though so I'm not sure how that will work with my older guests, we'll see.
  16. Hi @@jessgar86, are you getting married in Cancun or Jamaica? I went to the Jamaica location in March for the big day preview and loved it. But if you're getting married in Cancun the rates are a little different, there's another thread for that resort.
  17. This thread is a little older so I thought I would ask again, anyone else use WeddingMix? I'm considering using it since a videographer is out of my budget. Any feedback is appreciated!
  18. @@misbosox beautiful! where did you get your chair ties and table runners?
  19. @@AliciaW I put the RSVP on my site not on the save the date, but I plan on putting it on my invitation as well
  20. Hi @@jjbrown, Yeah, I asked about prices for the things she sent me in the packet and they were ridiculously priced, so we decided to bring many thing ourselves too. My reception will be on the decks and I still need lighting, good thing I asked, or else who knows if they would have told me. What company are you using?
  21. Hi @@AliciaW, My wedding is in April 2017 and I sent my save the dates out last month. I did a passport save the date so I was able to give my guests all the information up front and provided my wedding website on the STDs as well. My travel agent's deadline is the end of January so I am planning on sending my invites out in November with an RSVP date early January. So far I've had a few people contact my travel agent but no one has put down their deposit yet, hopefully someone will soon. But I agree with DLW0409, if you send your invites out too early people will probably forget to RSVP.
  22. Hi @@DLW0409, Communication has been poor. I had to reach out to them after 2 weeks of waiting for a contract that I was told would be sent to me after the appointment. In the beginning they gave me incorrect information about what dresses they had in the store. I finally received the contract and it had the incorecct dresses on it so they had to fix that. One of my girls is in Atlanta so I'm glad your girls didn't have any problems there. Hopefully the remainder of the process goes smoothly.
  23. Hi @@Shaquana325, Welcome! I am currently planning my wedding so I can't yet answer all of your questions but I'll provide answers for what I can. 1. Which resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica best fits the needs of both adults and children or any resort in Jamaica? I am getting married at they Hyatt Ziva which has a family friendly and adults only side. Many brides on here have gotten married at Iberostar which is family friendly as well. 2. What's in the fine print that no one tells you until you see the bill at the end of it all? Haven't gotten to this part yet but I'm sure its the little things that you don't think about that end up costing a lot, which is why many brides DIY many things like centerpieces. 3. What are the little extras we should bring? Such as flowers, decorations, lanterns or any DIY's? Centerpieces are probably a good idea, flowers if they are not included and you want them. I'm doing my own centerpieces because they will be much cheaper than what the resort is charging, same will the decorations for the sweetheart table, definitely bringing my own decor. 4. Has anyone ever used a travel agency for their guest? if so was it worth it and which agency? I am using Claire Skies Travel, LLC, so far it has been great. No one has found cheaper room rates than what our group rate is.
