  1. @TinkerSofi I have just asked my TA to get quotes for the Riu Palace and Grand Sirenis. I can't decide .. either to just wait a few weeks/months and see what happens with pricing - or just ask my TA to give me her best price. My fiance and I decided, we know what the beaches look like - we now know the areas, all the resorts are going to be comparative in food and rooms, etc. Its all about the price for our guests. I don't want them to pay $2300 and be disappointed... ya know? Anyway, thanks for you advice! I am going to keep trekking. I wonder how you found AF, we were so set on Azul Sensatori until it came at $2200 haha.
  2. Hi everyone! I am SO happy I found this thread - because I have been having the same hell of a time. My fiance and I went to Mexico for several days in November 2014 to pick the "perfect" wedding resort! We are planning to get married January 7th, 2016. Our week (January 2-9th) is stuck, mostly because our family and friends are unable to attend most other times of the year. We narrowed down our choices to 2: The Dreams Tulum & The Azul Sensatori We were FINALLY ready to commit this week, when my TA sent me outrageous prices. From Toronto, roundtrip we were quote over $2200 for both places all inclusive with flight. This quote blew my mind!!!! $2200 a person seems outrageous to me. I cannot ask a couple to pay out almost $5000 to come watch me get married. So, I am back to the drawing board. I have been starting to look at other resorts, and now feel like I am literally back at square 1. I don't know if I should wait it out, and hope the prices drop. Or if I should change resorts completely. I have done extensive research and priced out the Dreams packages and the Azul packages .. do you ladies have any advice on some reasonably priced wedding packages out there? At this point, the pricing for my guests and the wedding package is my biggest concern - seeing how prices jumped $500 per person in just a few weeks. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with starting all over. Any help and advice on packages and rates would be REALLY appreciated. We only have about 1 or 2 children coming to the wedding, mostly adults. I want a beach ceremony, and I will be having about 50 guests. Trying to pay less than $10,000 for our wedding .. not sure if that is doable. Also - a tip from myself to you guys! .. I noticed a few of you mentioned the "Now" properties as good options. When my fiance and I went to visit the Now properties in November, the wedding coordinators were HORRIBLE! I mean, the worst. They didn't have our confirmation for a site visit - although I had confirmed twice with them. They didn't know how many people could fit at each ceremony location. Their answer to all of my questions were "its possible". I would never put my wedding in the hands of someone who doesnt even know where I can have my ceremony on their property. Beware of the Now properties!! They are too new to operate like some of the others out there. Anyway, looking forward to seeing what you guys think I should do. Kenny and I are beyond frustrated with trying to pick the right place, for the right price! Its sooooooo hard!
  3. I know it has been quite a while since anyone has posted on this forum, but I am looking into outsourcing my flowers as well. Have any of you had any luck? Thanks!
  4. What a great review!! This website and forum is honestly a life-saver. I won't be getting married until January 2016, but I am starting to try and figure out one thing at a time. I have been working on budgeting, and am finding the dreams prices for things light lighting and flower petals, etc CRAZY. Did any of you dreams brides bring your own decor? I was also thinking of bringing extra chiffon fabric for my head table and for my archway - I want a lot of fabric on the arch, and then nothing on the chairs. Any brides bring their own fabric? I'm sure there is a setup fee - but I am not sure how much. I know some packages include chairs, if you are getting the free package - does it include chairs? Do they bring the same chairs from the ceremony to the reception? ... I know, I'm sorry .. So many questions! My LAST question (for now) .. one of my bridesmaids is a florist. She said she would be honoured to do my arrangements, but would like to go somewhere off-site and organize the arrangements while she was there ( a few days before the wedding). Has anyone had their own flowers brought in? I'm sure there is a fee for that too ... ugh, fees for EVERYTHING! Okay, I lied.. One more question. Did any of you brides get upgraded to a bigger suite or honeymoon suite when you arrived? Or did you just book with your guests? I don't know if it is worth splurging on a suite - or just keeping it simple. Sorry for all the questions. I am just less than 11 months out, and still very confused, haha.
  5. I had a bit of a struggle with this one. My fiance and I decided that we would actually INVITE each plus one, so that it would be known that he/she is welcome - but if we didn't know him/her, it wasn't appropriate to bring just "a date". Therefore our invitations are couple like : Kurt & Megan, you are invited .... etc etc. If someone asks or wants to bring an extra person, I would be fine with it - the more the marrier! (pun intended).. But I don't want it to seem like a free for all.
  6. Are you all getting arch packages with each resort? Or are you bringing your own decor/tulle to decorate the arch? I haven't quite figured out which option would be better .. obviously to bring your own is cheaper, but I don't know how much I will need to get my desired look! Ahh!
  7. When do you have to send your list by? is 60 days enough time?
  8. Hi there! I am getting married January 2016 - those flights aren't out yet, so I haven't confirmed a date or sent out any invites. However, at our engagement party I made an announcement that our wedding would be destination and around December/Jan 2015/2016. I am not planning on sending out save the dates (I find them to be a waste of money.. ) - instead I have just let my close friends/family know to start saving. Once we get our flight info then we will book ASAP and send out invitations then! Good luck!
  9. I have a TD aeroplan travel visa - the exchange rate is pretty good (still exists, but better than most) - and I pay no international or bank fees!
  10. Most resorts I've looked into charge outrageous prices for decor . (ie: $6 for a tea light!!!). I am planning on getting married January 2016 at the Azul Sensatori and they charge an extra set up fee for $250 I believe. $250 is definitely worth it with all the money you are saving on lights, decorations, etc.
  11. Hi Natalia! I am from Toronto, got engaged in August and still havent booked anything yet. My fiance and I spent a month down in Mexico in November searching for the perfect venue. We have narrowed ours down to the Dreams Tulum and the Azul Sensatori. We are planning a January 2016 wedding, so not far off from yours! Good luck!!
  12. Im a newbie too! But planning a wedding in Mexico for next January. Although I have a whole year, seems like a LOT of planning to do!!!
