  1. It depends on what you're looking for. I've stayed at Iberostar Paraiso and we checked out Moon Palace when we were last there for possible wedding location. I can't such much about the noise at Paraiso because our group was probably apart of it! We had a great time there and if you have more of a fun party crowd there's a disco on the property so there's stuff to do at night without going off resort everytime. The only thing we didn't like was the security was really uptight which we knew wold not work out with the group that would be coming to the wedding. Moon Palace is ginormous, there's 3 lobbys and you have to take a shuttle if you want to go to the other ones. There's everything you could think of to do on the resort, dance club, variety in restaurants, game room for kids-like a really sweet one. My FI thought it was really cool. If you're not beach people go for it. The ocean there was not the pretty turquoise but that dark blue and there was a ton of seaweed on the beach. Not alot of people were in the ocean but the pool is huge. Be advised they can have up to 8 weddings a day there as well, for me that fun fact turned me off from there. Iberostars do 1 a day.  As far as rooms go, of course you want them nice but for how much you spent time you spend there (for us sleep, shower, change) it was not a deal breaker. We just watched for the shower being separate because we've stayed at the Riu and the shower didn't have a door which would be awkward for friends rooming together.

  2. I'm 6 months out too and you make me feel like I have nothing done! Our deadline for booking is April 1st so I know alot will be last minute. I'm waiting on the stamps for invites to come in so they can go out and going to buy material for the BM dresses tomorrow (someone is making them). We have about 25 people that have booked their flights already. As far as decorations go, it's already beautiful enough, less is more!

  3. Our wedding is July 10th and the last date before we have to release rooms through our travel agent is April 15th, it is also when the room has to be paid in full. We made the RSVP date April 1st just so there was wiggle room for the procrastinators and are mailing the invites out towards the end of January/beginning of February. That was it gives people time to book and figure out how to have it all paid for.

  4. They look great!! You did it yourself? If so, what did you use? What computer program? I really want to do something like this, but anytime I pick a "template" and play around with it, it looks god awful!!  And I love your colours!!!

I used www.ayleebits.com for the boarding pass template and kind of made my own for the RSVP luggage tag. I used Microsoft Publisher which I was not familiar with but after playing with it found it easy to figure out and design it. The most time consuming part really was finding the right font pairing since I did not realize there was such an art and science to it. I ended up using free fonts Lavanderia Regular and Open Sans Condensed Light

Love these!! I'm meeting with my invitation designer on Saturday, I'm going to show her yours as an example of what I'm going for! :)

Wow that is such a huge compliment! Thank you so much! Let me know how it goes :)

  5. Hey ladies! I have attached my boarding pass invitations which includes invite, rsvp and a logo for the bellyband that will go around the pocket. Any constructive criticism before sending them to print? I would greatly appreciate it! There is so much to know with etiquette, do's and don'ts. Thank you so much in advance!

  6. @@jsparrow10 - Unfortunately, this is where you have to get a bit firm. I have been able to gather all the information simply by being very forward that, if they want my money, they NEED to provide their costs!

If I may suggest? Make each of your questions numbered in your emails.

    Example:

    1. Please provide reception locations and costs

    2. Send a la carte menu for extra things that can be ordered

    etc. etc.

Leave a space in-between for her to enter her answers. This is what I found most helpful for getting replies.

Also, RESEND your previous emails and change the subject line to **SECOND REQUEST** (or however many tries you have made). I also made her very aware, that I am needing to finalize my budget, so her replies are urgent in doing so.

I just had to do the same (again) this morning, trying to find out what is included equipment wise, with the resort DJ for the reception. I have a guest who is a professional DJ, so we're trying to find out, if the speakers, lights, etc. are there and then I can use my own guy - This was after being quoted $876 to rent just the equipment from their outside supplier! lol! I sent her the message on Monday, and resent it again this morning. Every email I just add how many times I have requested the same information and make it in caps and *****'s! She can only ignore you for so long ;)

    Give er a go!!!! ;)

Thanks! I just want to frickin know how much we need to expect for the reception. We think we are going to go with the meeting room but not sure since we have no clue how much that will be. It's been since Nov 12th since I've gotten a response and even resent an email. I'm trying really hard to be patient but almost a month is pretty ridiculous!

  7. @@Lindsay30 Thanks so much for the info! The coordinator actually just emailed me back and said it's $350+day passes.

Does anyone have the pricing for reception options? We are deciding between the beach, meeting room, or disco. I know you can do it in the restaurant but we have decided against that. I'm having a hard time getting an idea of how much the reception will cost and trying to figure out our budget. I would greatly appreciate any info so we can decide and check that off the list! Thanks so much!

@@JennyZ do you happen to know?

  9. @@Shermul His pictures look amazing! I always disregard the thought because I thought it would be too expensive but after reading the info on DW it actually may end up being cheaper with more coverage. Are they setting up dinner on the beach? How does that work out with pricing?

@@JennyZ I hear ya with crazy hours! Wedding planning is actually my destressor (certain aspects of it lol)

  10. @@Shermul Thank you so much for sharing all of this! 100 people for a DW is amazing! Reading this makes me so excited about everything and excited for you! How far ahead did they need to know the number of people attending? For our TA the final deadline is April 1st (really April 17th) and didn't know if that should be the rsvp date or if the resort needed to know numbers before then. My sister in law used the internal DJ and it was fine. Especially if you need to make a music list beforehand, they will have all the music you would need then! The centerpiece idea sounds amazing and genius since the waterbeads won't take up space in a suitcase! Can't wait to see how everything comes together!

  11. I'm so glad this thread is active again! We are booked for Tucan July 10, 2015. My brother actually got married there 7 years ago and it was amazing. Before we got engaged we already had a vacation planned at Riu which is next door to Tucan. We spent a whole day checking out other resorts and nothing really clicked. We figured we would go and talk with someone (Connie) at Tucan to see if they had our date and what has changed since then. They had more reception options which I was excited about and we got to see the beach reception set up and in action. It was gorgeous and looked like alot of fun. I do have some pictures as well. I can't wait to hear from the previous brides as well. Connie made a point to say they will have more communication closer to the date. She has been responding to emails but I've learned you have to ask like 1 questions at a time really and it's about a week or so response, which is fine.
