  1. We went to a site visit here and it is amazing. We spent time with Paula who is the wedding coordinator and she is the sweetest person ever and she had her own wedding there. They have a secluded beach area for the wedding and have a more reception hall space for afterwards. I have a bunch of pictures and stuff if you want to see!

  2. I have read rave reviews about both and I am torn about who to go with. There is more on facebook with pictures and reviews but wedding websites they both have great reviews. Anyone have any input between the 2? I know Trio is huge on this site and it is more expensive, is it worth it even if you don't use Adrian? I have thick hair and can be pretty wild in Mexican humidity so I need someone who can handle it and make it look good and last all day/night long. Thank ladies I appreciate it!

  3. I'm debating whether to travel to MVP's studio in PDC to avoid the $250 vendor fee. Our hotel is only 10 mins away from PDC so I don't really know for sure what to do.

What time is your wedding? I'm planning on traveling to a salon because I can't pay that much for hair and make up in addition to our resortr $300 vendor fee + their day passes. Our ceremony isn't until 4 or 5 so we would have plenty of time plus would help the whole not running into each other on the resort the day of. I'm shopping around for prices still so keep name dropping :)

  4. Does your DJ app on your phone use data or the internet? Keep that in mind since resorts can have spotty internet and I would hate to have your music all planned out and then can't get to it from lack of internet. Plus if it's not wifi the data fees might end up the same as a DJ!

  5. Use whoever you are most comfortable with. When we went to Mexico we took a day to check out resorts. The initial quote from the TAs company they normally use was outrageous. I was going the route to rent a car and she checked with another company and it was less than half the price and Louis was excellent. Just because it's who they always use doesn't mean it's the best. You don't want to stress on your big day if people are going to get lost or be late.

  6. I received price quote from styling trio and beso brides..I've read awesome reviews from both. .all the pics look great for both....Beso is cheaper...I would love styling trio but I can't help but wonder if they are really the 'best' or is it just that so many people use them that they have earned a name and that's why everyone recommend them... I want the best as possible..who doesn't! but beso sounds like they are just as good and are almost 200.00 cheaper! !

I have read people negotiate prices..how does that work? like what do you say to them so they lower their prices?

I just contacted Styling Trios, what were Beso Brides rates? I think I'd be more comfortable with a salon than at the resort especially if there's more reviews and feedback for it.

  7. Riu does have 4 different packages and they do have reception options which you pay per person, you will find you run into this at alot of resorts as well if you want something more than dinner. I do have the specific prices somewhere if you would like, I want to say off the top of my head it ranged from $25 pp - $40 depending if you want private or other details you'd be looking for. When we were last down in Mexico we actually got to talk to one of the wedding coordinators, who was very nice!

  8. When we did our site visits I made sure to write down our must haves and deal breakers and made note as we went through. Don't be afraid to ask to see the rooms if they don't offer and make sure to check out the beach to see what that looks like and the water. It's also interesting the type of feel each resort can have to you want to make sure the feel (fun, party, stuffy, quiet, etc) fits your group and what you want for your wedding! Make sure you have a camera and take tons of pictures! It's alot to take in with a ton of information so it's better to take tons of pictures of everything so it's easier to recall the details later when you're making your decision. Good luck!

  9. We are getting married in Mexico and we do for sure want a civil ceremony so it is legal on that day. My mom was initially upset I wasn't getting married in a church so I was looking into possibly having a second officiant in addition to the judge so it is more personable and has a less legal feel to it. Has anyone ever done both and was it worth the extra money to have the second officiant? Wedding coordinator said it'd be $590. Thanks!

From my research and contact with Iberostar, they don't have any complimentary wedding packages. I think if you choose not to go with their package, you have to pay for everything individually which can be mighty expensive. I tried asking them about group rates twice but each time they told me to speak with a travel agent.  They don't seem to discount much of anything at this chain of resorts, regardless of how much business you are bringing in.

I have noticed that they seem to run kids stay free specials from time to time but it's usually during the early part of the year, for travel throughout the same year.

My brother got married at Iberostar Tucan 7 years ago and we have stayed at both the Tucan and Paraiso Lindo. We were between both of the resorts for our own wedding and I do have wedding package information and pictures for both. I have been working with a travel agent through Beach Bum Vacations and she was able to get me group rates that fit the budget we wanted for our guests. After weighing pros and cons and what would be best for our group we just booked Tucan for 7-10-15! My favorite thing about Iberostar resorts is that there is only one wedding a day which was important to me. One thing to remember about the Paraiso resorts is that there is a ranking per say of resorts. For example when we stayed there we were at Lindo which means we could also access Beach and Del Mar but not Maya and Grand. If anyone needs more info let me know!

  11. I've been told to be careful to not take too many people. The more people the more opinions you have about YOUR dress. My sister was in town for a short period of time so went with her my mom and my sister in law. I didn't find anything but the next time I go will be my mom and my sister in law which we are very close. One of the first things my mom said after I got engaged was if she can go dress shopping with me. I think it depends on your relationships with people and who's opinions you value. I know my sister in law will be honest if it looks good or bad which I want and we have similar taste. Have fun! The one day we went was a blast and made everything more real :)

  12. Is it really possible to secure rates of $1500 or less? So far the information I received is for $1000 for resort only. :( We received info for the Dreams Sands, March 2015.

I agree with you girls... this is very overwhelming!

    Any thoughs or suggestions?

I was dead set on making it happen. Out of the 4 times I have been down there for a week long vacation I have never paid more than that so I wasn't going to expect my guests to! For me it's tricky because the flight information isn't out yet since it's so far ahead. We just locked in our resort and it should end up being $1300 even if flights end up being around $450. It's out there you might have to go away from big chains. We've stayed at Riu's and Iberostars and have always had an amazing time!

  13. Cancun tends to be more expensive than say Playa del Carmen which is depending on the resort 30 min away from the airport. Usually transport from the airport to your resort is included as well. Cost was a factor to us as well since we want it to be as affordable as we could make it for our guests. We wanted to keep it under $1500 for a week including flight and we were able to achieve with Iberostar Tucan. We have stayed there before and have always had a great time. You need to figure out what you want to keep it under and what you want to spend on the wedding and go from there! Good luck :)
