  1. I was just VERY clear that price WOULD GO UP and that it was only held for the first 30 guests (in actuality we were given 50 guaranteed which they ultimately stretched). My RSVP To the wedding was the same day as my booking deadline and all the info to book was very clearly laid out on our website (where you had to go to RSVP) I sent a reminder postcard with one week left in the booking deadline and had 83 people booked. We have since had a couple stragglers and because we are still so far out, the tour operator honoured the original pricing.
  2. A few of us in canada are using Laurielee she is awesome... And has great relationships out there. If you were in the US I would recommend owners of this site- wright travel hands down best in the states.... Laurielee.ca is her website if you want to check out who a few of us are using.
  3. You need to work with a TA not just direct to that tour operator, it's your best bet on getting added perks at your resort and the best pricing.
  4. We earned 4 free (the Max for our contract) and then FI and I got upgraded to first class/elite (the rest of our group have all booked first class as well- so we will still be with all our friends.. We actually had too many people ask for elite seating and some couldn't get accommodated.
  5. Keep in mind string lights are simply indoor Christmas lights girls. Right now you can get huge discounts on them... And a string of 100 comes in such a small box they are easy to pack. You can easily pick up packs at $.99-$5 this time of year!
  6. Not sure if you are from US or Canada but generally you can't beat the charter flight packages that tour operators run up in Canada. The flight most often is almost free when comparing separating the two because they own the plane and have to fly down whether there is 1 person or 200 on the flight.
  7. I assume you are Canadian? Sunwing is a tour operator and is one of many companies that build packages for hotel/flight/transfers for Canadian travel and are much cheaper than piecing you own package together (on average), you still want to get a Travel agent That specializes in destination weddings, who work with the tour operators in putting together your contract, the pricing and perks are well worth it!
  8. Not sure if you mean the travel portion, and how many days you are thinking. If you are Canadian packages are normally 7 days and include flight accommodation and transfers. The term "good" is relative... Lots of variables to determine! You are looking at high season, but with a good TA they should be able to give you some assistance is suggesting some options in that price range. likely Puerta Plata and not Punta Cana.... Or else 3-4 star but it's definitely doable.
  9. It likely means that your photographer will take standard shots and are used to quick turnarounds. Hotel supplied photographers often work this way. There is nothing wrong with it if the style is what you are looking for... But generally the more artistic/original the shots... The more editing and attention to detail will be required. There are these type of photographers in every country- so it's not a DR thing, just shows differences that can be found between vendors!
  10. Good to hear! What was the original hotel that closed? Who are you going to now?
  11. Most photographers that do more than a couple touch ups will need 8-12 weeks to properly edit their artwork. This is normal. There are some that are much quicker but that may be because of less edits or taking on less clients. Every artist has their own style and knows how long they need to ensure a quality product. Follow the expectations as detailed in your contract and if it's not detailed make sure you ask. 2 weeks seems super quick! Lucky girl!
  12. Nearly everyone brings their own... It's a major topic of conversation in the official Sensatori and the Sensatori Brides threads. Number of strings needed etc are all talked about. No need for cords... Just tell them how to want them to be hung during your on site meeting and they will do so. There will be the overall set up charge for all decor and displays they will charge you for setting up your decor that is paid in cash and directly there at the resort in the meeting as they pay their manpower directly to do so. It's usually $250 or less depending on what decor/work you have them do.
  13. Use the search tool... Or browse the respective regions sub forums until you see a thread with your resort name in the title.
  14. Not sure if you are Canadian or American, but a good TA can get you your rates now.... I'm Canadian and we got a great rate through a TA who worked with the tour operator before pricing was released to general inventory. Definitely find a TA that can get your pricing!! I have had mine for 6 months now!
  15. Mango in the chevron and pink in the writing... Our colors are ombré pinks so it worked perfectly and the words don't stand out too much which was our hope!
  16. Can't figure out where/how to get this company to ship to Canada but it looks like the shipping would take me out of the running for this vendor. Good price for Americans though.
  17. I use tap talk... But even on main computer you should see a plus sign with a logo for a picture ... Click that and upload.
  18. Super happy! Just went to the door (in the middle of a blizzard), and was met by a delivery.. My bags from wedding chicks arrived! I ordered them on the pre-black Friday sale... So 50% off and they worked out to be $3.25 a bag because I ordered more than 20... They are perfect!!!
  19. my photographer worked with me on the vendor fee- so I'm definitely tipping her. I'm thinking 15% sounds about right.
  20. just keep watching the deal thread. Cyber Monday will have some good ones I'm certain.
  21. Welcome! Start by reading the main threads for these three resorts to learn more about first hand experiences... And then find a great TA to help finalize your choice! Congrats and happy planning!
  22. @@Lissie88 they will tell brides at the BdR that you get the $500 even if you already booked. You don't have to wait. There is no 30 day restriction. (Unless this has changed since I attended earlier this summer)
  23. I wouldn't.... Someone in Miami isn't going to approve a local employee not working on site so that you can bring someone in! Better to try it that night and play it by ear. When we were there for our BdR the staff DJ at mojitos was awesome and would have kept the party going
