  1. How awesome! You did a great job! Looks like your wedding was fabulous!

I'm going to do it as cheaply as possible, get the complimentary package and DIY most of my decor and have family lay it out once it's setup. Their prices are just ridiculous!
  3. Hey ladies, I wanted to show you all our invitations! They were mailed on Tuesday! WOOHOO! My sister purchased the template from: http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/vanessas-diy-destination-wedding-passport-invites-038-rsvp-boarding-passes#axzz2e27jbsg2 Vanessa has 2 options, you can either purchase the template and modify it yourself (which is what we did and I believe it was only $15), or she can create it for you! Super simple, yet I will say, it does take a little bit of work - BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT! Here's a preview of what ours look like! We did the passport invite and boarding pass RSVP, we are having a day-of-the-dead rockabilly beach wedding, so it's super non-traditional! She has the BEST instructions on how to do it yourself, which is awesome and super helpful...even when you've never worked with Illustrator (like me!).
  4. I don't know about the photographer...I can ask her about that too. I'm cheap and this is already going to cost us a ton more than we expected. We are considering having a family member take pics, but I don't want them to have to "work" during the ceremony and reception, so we might end up paying an arm and a leg for professional pics. The ones offered by the resort are WAY cheaper than places that I've rcvd quotes from, so we might end up just getting a basic package and having everyone else take some pics as needed. I'll let you know what she says!
  5. I do have one already, her name is Daniela Campos. She's been responsive and it'll only take her 2 days to respond to my questions. (I'm not sure if she's onsite or not and I'm pretty sure that 3 months from the big day, I'll get an onsite one) I'm going through a TA, but I'm not sure if you are or not. If so, ask them to direct your questions to the right person. I do have my locations already booked because I knew that I wanted to get married in a gazebo...the Tucan wasn't available (ALREADY - Wedding is 7/7/14!), so we had to book the Bougainvilla gazebo and terrace for the reception. Here's what my TA said regarding the decor: "You are allowed to bring your own decoration. In case that you require that our onsite wedding coordinator set some favors or wedding decoration on your wedding event locations, the cost is according to the items that your bring (starting cost 100.00 USD) or someone in your group can place them. It will be quote at the Resort according to the items that they brought" I replied asking how early can they be setup if one of my family members sets them up for us to make sure they have time to go get ready before the FIESTA! I'll let you guys know what she says! BTW, my passport invites are turning out AMAZING! I'll post pics ASAP!
  6. Hey there! I am also getting hitched at MP on 7/7/14 and I am interested in putting up papel picado as well. My sister custom makes them on Etsy with names/dates and such. If you would like to look her up, her shop name is: calavera press. My other sister also makes awesome custom wedding stuff, her shop name is: vintage baby doll. Hook it up and let them know that Jenny referred you to them! I just e-mailed my WC (Daniela) to see how much the papel picado setup would be...so I'll update you as well. (hopefully, that's not how I'll look when I get the amount - HAHA!)
  7. Zavina, I have the same exact concern. I'm going to try to DIY mostly everything in hopes that they don't charge us an arm and a leg to help set them up. If so, I'll make sure that they are simple enough for a family member to put up real quick before the ceremony/reception. I kinda figure that the beach and I will be enough of a decoration! HA! BTW, we are getting married 7/7/14.
  8. Hey there! I was trying to download the files, but it says that I don't have permission...could you maybe e-mail them to me at jenvens7@ gmail.com? Thanks!!! Airport Spanish.pdf
  9. Hey fellow MP Brides! Does anyone have reviews on the MP Vendors? We're planning on having a very basic wedding with DIY decor and such, but I HAVE to have a photographer and mariachi. I don't want to have to pay the outside vendor fee, so if anyone has any suggestions on who to get through MP, that would be great! If you did get the mariachi, how was it? How long did they play for? Was it just the ceremony or reception? (We hope to have 75 room nights, so we are hoping for a free private event and we would like for them to play there while everyone eats - and then connect and ipod for the rest of the night with our own docking station) Thanks in advance!
  10. That is what we are planning on doing as well if we don't have the 75 room nights so we won't be able to have the unlimited private events. I have the same concern about the ceremony, happy hour, dinner...then what?! I heard the disco is fun but we are going to have kids traveling with us as well. I am curious to see how other brides have handled this kind of situation. Cost is very important to us too and a private event would cost us too much!
  11. OMG! They look awesome! You'll be getting hitched exactly ONE MONTH before we will! Such cute idea with the boarding pass and such, I'm gonna totally check out her website! Thanks for posting!
  12. We are going through the exact same thing right now. We have our wedding and our room block already booked and should have about 10-15 rooms total...we were given prices and they honored the kids stay free thing already, but now I went to the MP website and they are offering 35% off, then I checked Expedia and the prices are almost HALF of what we were quoted! That's ridiculous! I printed out the prices and e-mailed it over to my TA. I'm hopeful that she'll be able to fight with the MP to honor those prices! I don't think it's fair that they give you a certain price because they know you are having a wedding there and then everyone else can go for almost HALF OFF! Sorry, I have to vent! We've already pre-paid 2 of the rooms for 7 nights, which means that the difference could go to our flights! I'm hoping that she can honor the pricing for us and the rest of our guests...has anyone else had to deal with this?! Did you have a good outcome?! I'll keep you guys posted on what she is able to do for us and keep your eyes on the prices ladies! There's no need to overpay!
  13. Hey ladies! I have a quick question for the ladies that have already had their weddings at the MP. I am planning on sending a box of stuff from the states through Fedex to the resort with our decorations. I really don't want to pay those ridiculous baggage fees to take them down! I know...I know...I'm cheap. Has anyone else done that? How does it work? Will they hold it for you if you send it in advance? Thanks!!!
  14. I've heard the same thing from some MP brides about getting your money back for comp'd nights. Apparently, they want you to use the money towards an upgraded wedding or something like that. One bride fought with them before they left and her bank card was refunded after making a big scandal and wasting time arguing with them instead of enjoying her stay......so I'm sure they aren't going to make it easy on us to get the money back. I'm hoping to have the 75 nights, so our entire stay should be refunded. As far as getting your location booked, my TA said that I should start giving them a heads up as soon as any little detail was decided, that way they'll have it on the books for your wedding. I have booked our wedding room block...not sure what rooms we'll have just yet, but I have 10 rooms saved in our block and I believe it was $100 per room down, and then as the guests book their room, we get those credits towards our room. It is a bit nerve wrecking to have to wait and not know what's going to happen until you get there, but I'm hopeful it's going to be amazing and we are going to have a beautiful ceremony - even with expecting a few kinks along the way...
  15. I'm having the same issues with friends and family that can't make it to MP for our wedding. They want us to do something here as well, and I'm not ok with the double expense! I'd rather have a family vacation, wedding and honeymoon - ALL IN ONE! We may do a small dinner when we come back, but we are also keeping the symbolic ceremony a secret. My brother in law is going to perform our ceremony - as he is going to become an ordained minister in order to marry us. So, he will make sure that we have the same anniversary date...SHHHH! It's perfect because we don't want to hassle with all the other extras and expenses. I will however, suggest that you book the location ASAP. We wanted the Tucan Terrace and it was already booked for JULY 2014! So, we went with the Bougainvilla terrace instead, since I wanna wear heels and not be barefoot on my wedding! Once you book your stuff, make sure that the charges on your contract are correct because they were trying to charge us for blood work and translations, when we are only doing a symbolic ceremony. Little extras like that can add up! Good luck everyone and post pics of DIY projects that you have going on. I will post my STDs soon! I hope to get those out within the next couple of weeks.
  16. What great ideas! I'm totally gonna steal some of your ideas! Can't wait for our wedding at Moon Palace on 7/7/14!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
