  1. Hey fellow Brides! We were just given our official onsite wedding coordinator...Emy...I've seen mixed reviews (horrible and good) and want to see if anyone has had a recent experience dealing with her and your wedding. I don't want to start on the wrong foot by asking to get changed to another one, if she's been better with more recent brides... Thanks!
  2. Hey there! Who was your onsite wedding coordinator? I just got Emy and I've seen mixed reviews about her...! Thanks!
  3. Hey everyone! We are getting ready to get everything set for our wedding on 7/7/14 and I wanted to see if any past brides have any suggestions on where to have our cocktail hour. We aren't going to use it on our wedding day, since we are now going to have a private reception. Also, if you have any cocktail menu suggestions as well, we would be greatful! Hopefully everyone is happily planning!!!
  4. Hey ladies! I've just now been able to get on here since the update! I've been starting my DIY decorations and they've gone pretty good so far. I can't believe that we are leaving in exactly 5 months! Time is flying! I do have a little concern...we weren't able to get the 75 room nights, since my cousin booked with another agent. (RUDE! - JK!) So we won't be able to use our private event for our wedding reception. We are going to have about 30-36 guests. I was wondering if we could have our "free dinner reservation" at the Brazilian joint and then have our "free cocktail hour" for a pretend reception. Do you think that would work and give it a wedding feel? I wonder if anyone knows what the cost would be to extend our cocktail hour to 2 or 3 hours? We are planning on hooking up our ipod to a portable speaker. We are on a SUPER budget and trying to not have to pay for anything extra! Let me know your thoughts! I should be updating my planning thread this weekend with all of the things that I have done so far... Happy Planning!

  9. Are there any other MP Brides and Grooms that are taking/or took their honeymoon in Cancun or the surrounding areas after their stay at MP? I am thinking about a few days but somewhere a bit more private and wanted to see if anyone can recommend somewhere that my agent can look into. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the info. Hey charmedhk, I asked my travel agent to check with the resort and they were able to honor the 2013 summer promotion and they agreed! We only have to pay for transportation from the airport to the resort for all kids under 12. For kids 12-17, they have the pay the regular child fee. Good luck!!!

We have to do a totally last-minute wedding due to family illness and I've taken the plunge. Friends of ours are memebers of the Palace and Hard Rock resorts, so we booked our group through them. Anyway - I need to set up a destination wedding website ASAP. Any recommendations? I'm going shopping for a dress tomorrow (rush delivery please!). What else do I need todo right away? Any tips advice you can offer are much appreciated. Let's see of I can pull this off! I'm know as an amazing hostess and throw unforgettable parties. I want ,y wedding to be grand, and with this deadline, we'll see what happens! Thanks!!! WOW! Congrats! That's our 2 year anniversary! I have my website through our TA, but I know of many! My favorite that you can "pay" for is: Appy Couple. I really wish I would have just paid the $29, but my invites already went out with my first one, so I think it's too late to change it... Anyways, good luck and I can't wait to hear about it and see how the "last minute" planning works! What collection are you doing?

Well that and getting all the important details squared away like, confirming my location for the reception.... oh! and Invitations. I did my STDs last weekend and the first batch will probably go out next week. (fingers crossed) Did you do a site visit? I feel like you said you went in August. That's awesome! We just ended up skipping the STDs because I wanted to do both the passport/boarding pass and everyone that is going already knew about the wedding months ago! I would love to see how yours turned out!!! (It was kinda nerve wrecking sending mine out...I honestly told my fiancee that there's no turning back now! haha) I haven't done a site visit. I can't afford to do it, I would have LOVED to, but it's not possible!!! I'm going to try to get nicer thick luminarias to see how they'll hold up! I totally hear ya on trying to stay under budget - who knew that it would still cost an arm and a leg when they said "complimentary"! BUT, it's going to be worth it and the wedding of our dreams, so why not?!

I asked my TA and she said that we could and that I should just contact the WC at MP (copy her) to make sure it actually happens. The WC sent me back a copy of the "contract" that I don't have to sign until the final planning process starts with my actual WC. It shows on there that we are booked for that location. We tried to book the Tucan Gazebo and Terrace, but it was already booked! (INSANE and that was like 4 months ago when we tried) - So I suggest you try to book as far in advance as possible! You can always make last minute changes, if you have to! Good luck!

Are you doing centerpieces for the reception? Thanks darling! I would LOVE for you to crash it! HAHA! I'm gonna have to keep in touch with you since I think that we are the closest to each other's BIG DAY! The luminarias are going to be the centerpcs. They are easy to transport and don't require much to set them up. I'm gonna put battery operated candles in them. My only concern is if it's windy...I'm going to have to figure out something else to put in them to keep them up and beautiful. I was thinking a few of those per table. I really don't know what else other than rose petals and the guest favors. I know I'm gonna go crazy with stuff so I want to try to keep it as simple as possible, yet show a bit of our style.

I'm doing the complimentary package so... I know it comes with very little decorations. For the ceremony: I'm going to hand paint parasols and place them at the end of the aisle...that's pretty much it for the ceremony area, other than "us" of course and the sand ceremony box. Every one of our guests is going to get a hand painted maraca and a fan program. (which will be at each seat) and that'll add some color and "umph". For the reception: We are getting papel picado, custom luminarias (with candle inside), and some fun favors (silly things like mint tins, more maracas, etc.) - we'll also have placecards for each guest which will make it colorful and nice. My family sells all of those custom items on Etsy, so it'll be free for us, except for the setup, which I hope that my family will do for us to save on paying those fees. Check out my planning guide listed below. I'm going to be updating that pretty soon with more ideas and inspiration. Thanks!!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free I'm going to add my little touches to the ceremony, like parasols, fans and personalized maracas. Then we are going to take those over to the reception and incorporate them over there too. Since I'm DIY'ing a lot of the wedding decor. We are going to make personalized luminarias and use a flamless candle in them as the centerpcs (that'll be simple to setup and drag from Texas). Then have the favors laid out at each seat, so it'll add some pizzazz to them. We are also going to hang up personalized papel picado in the terrace as well, just because they'll be free since my family makes them! I think the beach is enough for decor. I'm not going to spend money on decor that I can't even take home with us. (I respect brides that have done it, but not only are the prices RIDICULOUS - the pics and memories are going to be about the people that were there with us...not if we used off-white or ivory for our napkins!)
  22. I think that I'm going to have a simple wedding ceremony and reception, since it's extremely expensive to add on ANYTHING! Our guests are spending thousands of $$$'s to come to our wedding, so we are going ALL OUT on their favors and OOT bags. I'd rather get them something that they can use during their trip AND when they go back home instead of decor that we pay for but can't take home with us....get the picture?!
  23. Beautiful wedding! You looked great! I love the bouquets and the pics! Thanks for sharing!

Reception: Bougainvillea Terrace Photographer: One of our guests Music: Mariachi for an hour and then an Ipod with docking station (I heard it's free...so we are cheap and are gonna play our own music!) Reception Extras: We are going to stick with basics, get a buffet, not sure which one yet Reception Decor: My family has an Etsy shop and they make custom Papel Picado and other goodies (vintagebabydoll and calaverapress), so we'll have some of that, as well as custom paper lanterns with battery op candles. (Simple, but fun!) Reception Pics: We are going to have a family member take our pics, but we are also going to have a make-shift photobooth with an instant camera, props and a photo album that will double as our guestbook. Reception Fun: After our dinner, mariachi, and ipod dancing, we are going to have every family release a water lantern into the ocean to wish us good luck and then we plan on going to the Noir nightclub to keep dancing and drinking (we love to drink....er and to dance!) Out of Town Bags: This is where I feel like I can go a bit overboard...I love my awesome family (that is literally traveling from all over the world to go to our wedding) so we might make the wedding portion as economic as possible, but as for their gifts, I HAVE to go all out! Soooooo, I am a DIY Queen! I'm going to make my own oilcloth beach bags for each family. Inside, it will include a welcome booklet, custom mug for each adult & tumblers for the kiddos, custom mints, key card holders, out of town goodies (sunscreen, aloe vera, advil, sewing kit, insect repellent, etc.) and anything else that I conjure up! Here are our invitations that just went out on Tuesday! Here are some of my inspirations: My bouquet - DIY My dress - Tea length, halter with red petticoat My hair - since it's most likely going to be windy...Imma need an updo! Hair color - This is how I have it dyed now, but with the rolls like the above pic. Vail - DIY, but with a red bow I'll keep posting more as I start buying more and more things! I do have my shoes already...(ahem...I actually have 2 pairs...I'll post pics of them later!) Let me know if you have any questions and HAPPY PLANNING!
