  5. I would like to know this as well! Melcrna, have you already ordered the keycard holders and lanyards? If so where did you find the best deal?
  6. Yea, so my ceremony is at 5 and my reception will start at 8. So I am trying to figure out how long I will need for photos so that I can set the time for my dinner. I was thinking that I should set dinner either at 6:30 or 7. I just don’t know if one hour is long enough for dinner. I will email my photographer and see what they say. Thanks!
  7. We choose a DW because I could not picture gettign married anywhere except a beach and we dont have any beaches where we are from. Also, we met in Cuba and got engaged in Aruba - so it only seems fitting to get married in the Caribbean

  9. You gotta check out how much shipping will cost and if there will be a customs charge...because it could end up costing way more then expected in the end!
  10. I was thinking about this too - I dont really want t do a garter. Is it necessary?
  11. I saw this advertisement on tv yesterday - the prices look pretty good http://www.josbank.com/menswear/shop/Home_11001_10050
  12. Question for you ladies, and I know this is a little off topic and I apologize: Our wedding ceremony is at 5pm and I have a semi-private dinner booked and then a reception at 8. I do not want to do the first look. Do you think there is enough time to do photos from 5:30 (when the ceremony ends) until 6:30?? Or is that cutting it close? Should I push dinner to start at 7 until 8 (that may be too short and rushed??) Im so confused!! Please help.
  13. My and FI and I are getting married in May in Punta Cana where we will spend the week with family and friends. We come back home and have an AHR 2 weeks later. Then we will start planning our honeymoon - to take place in September/October for about 2 weeks. It will give us something to plan and look forward to - especially since I hear that once the wedding is over a lot of brides get depressed since they have nothing left to plan.
  14. Do yuo girls know if brides and grooms get any type of priority seating?
  15. Signature cocktails are awesome. I just went to a wedding that the bride nad groom had their own and they were so yummy!
  16. I told my girls to wear metalic coloured sandals
  17. I would just make sure to emphasize that since its a small group going that every single person is important and that is why they are invited/attending.
  18. I searched and searched and searched for my gown - I went to about 9 stores and I had one that i liked. I went back to try it on and I still liked it but when the sales lady asked me if I am ready to put a despoit down - I wasn't. I told me mom that I needed to go to a few more stores - just to be sure. So I booked appointments at 4 more stores for the following weeked. It was store #11 - I was looking through the racks and the sales girl held up a dress and I looked at it and it wasnt exactly what I thought I like dbut I said I would try it on anyways. It was the last dress that I tried on at that store and as soon as I saw myself in it - I jsut knew - it was the one! I still went to stores 12 and 13 that afternoon - because I had already made appointments and wanted to see if it was possible that I found something I liked more - but when I was at those stores all I could think about was my beautiful gown that I found - so I rushed me appointments at the other 2 stores and came back and bought my gown at store #11. I would have to say I definitely tried on over 50 gowns - it was a lot of work, but in the end so worth it. I am so glad I didnt settle on a gown that I just liked - you gotta get that feeling and it will happen when its right.
  19. I know October is hurricane season and it can be a risk of course....but my birthday is in October and I have gone to DR twice and bahamas and jamaica in the month of October and have been lucky every time. The only thing is sometimes it will rain for 20 minutes during the day or for an hour in the evening. Best of luck!
  20. Are you set on bringing a photographer from Toronto? I am also from Toronto and am getting married in May, 2013. I found a photographer that lives in the DR. They are originally from Europe but moved to DR to work there. The company is called Photosouvenir. There are also many other photographers there - which can save you a lot of money from bringing a photog from Toronto.
