It's the "famous couple" game - when they arrive, everyone gets the name of half of a famous couple pinned to their back, and by asking other ppl questions about themselves, have to figure out who is on their back. ie. someone will get "Brad" and someone else will get "Angelina". Once you figure out who you are, you have to find your match, and the first couple to do so wins. Like I said - not bridal shower specific, but people got to know eachother real quickly!

Another fun one was the Lei game - everyone got a flower Lei coming in and were told that you couldn't say words like "Wedding", "Mexico" "(fiance's name)", or do something like cross their legs. If they say/do one of those things and someone catches them, they get their Lei stolen from them. Person with the most Leis at the end wins. This would work equally as well (and more hilariously) with things like sombreros, cheap flip flops, etc.

We also played "Pictionary" in teams of 4 with romantic movie titles.

    Great suggestions thank you :)

No, we are getting married on the terrace.

How are things coming along? Any new updates?

It is nice! :)  Things are good, haven't been doing too much wedding stuff, too busy until September with both jobs.  I am slowly working on the bouquets, 3 more to go....

For some reason, I feel like we have fallen behind and Im going to be scrambling in October-we leave to get stuff done.  But all will work out :)

  4. Kay I know you have been the ILA before. Do you think it would be too seperate to use 3 palapas? Is it true there are two closer together and the other two are farther away? I was looking at the photos you posted but I can't really tell... The two in the middle look pretty close adn then the 3rd and 4th farther away. I really want to have our dinner at the palapas but my mom thinks that it might be too secluded for each palapas? What do you think?
Hey csho, I would of really loved our dinner in the palapas as well, but I think they are to far apart for the amount of guests we have coming. Even the two close together ones feel secluded to me! I was bummed but the Cuban is really nice and they set it up really nicely with the gala set up.

Oh the dreaded booking deadline... I think it is the same for everyone the people that we didnt think were coming were the first to book and the people we thought for sure either took right until the deadline, or arent even talking to us anymore! What I dont understand is if I had my weddubg here and tou werent goibg to come wouldnt you just tell me? So whats the difference, just like people keep asking if we are having a party at home, no... people dont get married here and then a few weeks later have another party you are coming or your not! Trust me the deadline passing was probably my biggest stress relief! And we did have a few people pay deposits after but now the flight is sold out so I dont have to worry anymore

Stopped talking to you... thats not cool at all.  Doing a destination wedding means you know people wont be able to make it.  Just be upfront and honest that you cannot go, it isn't going to ruin your friendship. Ahh Im sorry your having to deal with that!

Thanks csho, they are just studs, no dangle :)  There is a lot of detail around my bust area on my dress.

The end of our deadline for our group rate is coming up the end of next weekend. I can't wait for it to be over so I can stop harassing people to book! I found people who I didn't even think would book, booked first and now we are still reminding my FI's groomsmen to book!

Ah, don't get me started about FI's groomsmen lol, our deadline has come and gone & only 2 out 5 of his guys have out their deposits down! :|

But just so you know, even after the deadline for the deposit people can still be added to the group booking up to 50, as long as the seats don't sell out on the same vacation package.  As the deadline releases all the seats to the public.

And I agree people that we didn't think would even come, booked first.  My two brothers haven't put their deposits down yet, such slackers.....

    I need some help!

I have come up with two centrepiece ideas... I am really torn about which one I want to go with. I personally really like the one with the coral "vase". My sister, SIL, and Mom prefer the glass one. My FI says he likes both so to go with whichever one I really like. The coral vase option is what my original idea was - because I want to add some colour to the table and its very hard to find coral flowers and I do not want table runners. I like the glass one - I just feel like it doesn't add much colour. And I don't know if I am just being stubborn about the coral one because it was my idea and I went through the trouble to find the perfect box to paint and put more effort into it lol! I have added a photo of the venue so you can get an idea of what our venue will look like. I guess I also feel like the coral one looks a bit more rustic to fit the venue whereas the glass one looks a bit more "classy". Anyhow either one I go with I will also be adding another shorter square votive candle holder with a starfish on it attached with either twine or raffia. I'd love your honest opinions!

Sounds good I don't mind at all, they are expensive here! I will let you know when I am headed there.

  11. Im glad you had a amazing trip! Cannot wait to see your engagement pictures....

We are unsure about a honeymoon, we are leaving for the resort before our guests.  But we aren't staying 2 weeks, we may do a 2 week honeymoon in Europe actually in the spring or summer.  But that is unsure, I was just asked to be in a my good friends wedding August 2014, and she wants her bacherolette in Vegas, so I will be off to Vegas next spring sometime.

I hvae rethought it and re-looked at photos of table set-ups and it really doesn't look like there is even mcuh space once to put anything once you have people seated on both sides of the table. Soooo I am definitely working on simplifying what I envision. I bought the really cute small candles in dark and light coral at the dollarstore they are pretty awesome! So thats my first decoration purchase lol and I am debating between coral petals or those diamond things (I think they'd work better as the petals might fly away in the wind) but I can't seem to find them in the colour I'd like... oh well I'll keep on checking!

csho, here is where I purchased mine.

And then of course some more shells etc scattered over the table. Hopefully it will turn out how I envision it!

HOw was your trip to NYC?

    That sounds just lovely :)

NYC was awesome, my friend and I had a great time and saw lots and partied hard :) How's Germany ? are you back yet?

But we had our engagement photos done on Monday and I am dying to see them! It was super hot and I was sweating like crazy so I am hoping you won't be able to tell in the photos, but she seemed super excited about some of the photos! She said it would be about 5 weeks before we get them on DVD but she'd send a few teasers to us in the mean time... so I hope they come soon! I can't wait!

Anyway hope all is well with everyone here and that planning is all going smoothly!

Cannot wait to see your engagement photos!

I purchased silk flower petals off ebay for very cheap in my wedding colours.  I am sprinkling them down the centre of the table and than just placing shells and starfish on top of them.  Simple and chic if I do say so myself rolleyes.gif
