  1. Hi ladies,

I need some help with wording etc so please feel free to edit.  This is the reading for my sand ceremony,  the poem will be read as we pour.  As I have always loved the Love is kind, love is patient etc.

Please help with some wording in the beginning part :)

As you stand beside the ocean, may your love always be as constant as the tide.  In front of Andrew & Kalyn, there are two different colours of sand; one representing each of them along with their family and friends.  As Andrew & Kalyn pour the separate sand together, the grains will mix as one, never able to separate and always be one.

Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast,

it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,

it is not easily angered,

it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil

but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts,

always hopes, always perseveres.

    Love never fails.

    Ladies,

I think that it is safe to officially start my count down... tomorrow is 45 days and I just got an email that I will be able to pick my seats and meal for my trip! We are flying Club Class on Air Transat I went back and forth because this was a $700 upgrade but now that it is paid and all done I am really glad that we did it, even though all of our guests will be in economy class but how much "parting" can you do on the plane LOL!

Its come so fast!  Some alone time will be nice with the hubby before party time begins! :)

How is everyone doing?  I will be getting back into all my DIY projects, as my part time seasonal job comes to an end this weekend :)

  3. Also FI & I finally got out to tackle the his and the groomsmen attire and we were successful!  FI got his way with wearing all white, I got my way with cutting out the linen.  So he will be wearing white golf dress pants, a white dress shirt and a purple tie (Same as bridesmaid dresses).  The groomsmen will be wearing smokey grey golf dress pants and a white dress shirt.  I am so happy to have the attire all together!!!  Let me know your thoughts!

  4. Hi ladies,

Went for my final dress fitting and bridesmaid dresses were in.  Everything went great!  Bridesmaids didn't need any alterations and my bustle was done perfectly :)  I highly suggest Windsor Bridal in Toronto for dress or alterations!  Here is a pic with some of my gals, don't mind my face in the picture, I was laughing!

  5. As for an update from me, I am being a HUGE slacker... and I really need to be getting small stuff done.

    - finishing bouquet, bouts and corsages

    - finishing my sand ceremony frame

    - Guest book banner & getting the Guest book "page" printed somewhere

    - I have some small stuff to buy still like;  stamp pads for guest book, sand for sand ceremony, cups for guests favours, cake topper... and I know there is more

    - FI and groomsmen attire

    - Bridesmaid gifts ??? HELP

On another note my final dress fitting is on September 14th & the bridesmaid dresses will be ready for p/u that date as well.

I haven't received my boudoir pictures back yet, I am kind of annoyed as she said 2 weeks and its been 3 1/2 ( yes Im being inpatient lol)  But this is something I want to get done!

It can be tied onto the round wood supports where the stairs are going up to the palapas! I think that will look great! Or I may just use A, B, C... that way its not as much work... although that might be too boring... so I don't know hahaha!

You ladies could label the palapas with the wooden letters from Michaels or walmart etc. & paint the letters for each palapa in your wedding colour(s).  Also another thought would be to buy the fancy little chalk board signs from Michaels and label each palapas as theme's such as love, romance, forever (something like that) OR Cuba themed....

I think I have decided against escort cards because its just something extra to bring along. If you guys have any ideas it would be appreciated!

Hey Carina. I'm not necessarily doing a seating chart. What I'm doing is combining favours and place cards into one. Although a bit bulky, I have fallen in love and will be doing these as favours. I will put them all out on a table and label them with names and palapa # and then everyone will pick up their cup and find their seat. They are plastic and very lightweight. I'm also doing stripped straws that match our wedding colours. I can't wait!! I got a pretty good deal too.

I don't really know yet how I am going to label the palapas. Maybe a burlap square or something. Hmmm now you have me thinking. I'll work on that and let you know what I find.

Such an awesome idea Alley.  I am not doing a seating chart just place cards, But I do need a couple of signs for other stuff that I would like displayed at the ceremony.  When I come up with something I will be sure to share :)

Csho, that is awesome I am so glad that he liked it! Well final payment is on the 13th so I guess this is when we get the real guest count lol! I know that there are about 15 people that have already finished paying and I haven't heard of anyone changing their mind but for some reason I am still really nervous about it... it's just like when I was waiting for everyone to make their deposits! Oh well another 10 days of "stress" I still feel like I am doing better than all other Brides (that get married at home) when it come to that! And there are 68 days until we leave 70 days until I am married!

Yay! It is coming fast!  So exciting ... try not to stress, everything will turn out :)

I am however looking to have my fiance stand out. I don't like the look of a shirt with just a tie. Do any of you ladies have ideas on how I can make him look different from the groomsmen? HELP please! lol

I don't have pictures with me at work. I'll post when I have them.

    Hi Alley,

FI's groomsmen are wearing the same as yours & for my FI to stand out he will be wearing a vest!  Hopefully this helps :)

FI hates shopping... so he tried the linen one on and I wasn't very excited about it and then he tried this one on and he just looked soooo good in it... so it was pretty easy! I'd just tell him he has to go now because he won't find any summer suits in Nov or Dec!

I know, FI has been to Le Chateau and tried on the linen suit, and I wasn't crazy about it.  So he will be getting something like your FI hopefully, once he tries on something different :)  We are going Friday night I hope ...

  11. Its summer and with summer comes patios and beer it cannot be helped! LOL My FI got a suit from Studiosuits.com it is Irish Linen and honestly great quality, it was $160 delivered (plus $30 duty) then I liked the suit so much that all the grooms men ordered their pants from the website as well it took 2 weeks to be delivered it was fast great quality and well priced! Then I am just going to have them all wear a white button up shirt with brown sandals and Bob's your uncle!
Thank you I here studio suits was really good!
  12. I haven't even been drinking much this summer... but I love chocolate and sweets so that's my problem... I didn't eat any today! Yay for day 1! My fiancé bought his suit at Le Chateau. I am in love with it! He looks sooo handsome (or so I think). I originally wanted linen but I didn't like how it looked as much. It was just too baggy and loose. I wanted a more structured suit. He's just wearing a vest and pants with white shirt and tie. The groomsmen are just wearing the same pants and white dress shirts. I have added a picture on here somewhere, but here it is again just in case. LL
This is what I am leaning more towards ... But FI is stubborn lol. But he hasn't been to try anything on yet. But I don't like linen like I thought I would, I really like what your FI got.

Hahaha I am the same. Mines actually at my house so I try it on every now and then... Although I have decided now to stop since I don't want it to look worn from trying it on too often. I gained a few lbs actually since I bought it so its a bit snug... so I am now trying to eat healthier and get more exercise in! I don't want to have to do very many alterations to it lol and I certainly DO NOT want to have to have it taken out GASP! loL!

Yeah I have put on a few pounds as well, but it still fits well it was a little big when I got it, I had it on at my shower which was last weekend so now I am on a don't gain don't lose diet. its hard in the summer there is a lot of beer consuming which is really bad for you!

My fits differently every time I put it on, it seems.  Small different though.  It fit best when I first tried it on, but I don't need any alterations except length and bustle.  My last fitting is Sept 14th :) :) And the bridesmaid dresses will be in Sept 14th as well, YAY!  Now to get FI and groomsmen out there and dressed, he is such a slacker! Where did your FI get there attire?  And what did they get, I'm looking for a bit of inspiration! Yes the beer drinking needs to calm down a little bit, if I stopped drinking so much of it I would drop at least 10 lbs :/ ahaha

Kay for the Guest Book banner... I finished it up with my moms help this weekend. We ended up threading twine through the burlap at the top to attach it. It was super easy... kind of made a little hole on one end using a thick needle to thread the twine through and then another on the other end of the square (we taped the end of the twine so it was easier to thread through). We went from front to back, so the majority of the twine was on the back (we did it the opposite way too, but this looked better). And then we just sprayed the squares with hair spray to harden them up a bit and to stop them from fraying... seems to have worked quite well. Let me know how yours turns out!

Thank you csho... how do you plan on attaching it to the table?

I just put the square up to my computer to make sure it would fit. Then I printed out the letters for Guestbook on white paper. I also bolded the font so it would be a bit thicker. I cut the paper around the letters so they were about the same size as the burlap pieces and just put the white paper with letter behind it. I was able to see most of the black print through the burlap and just painted over top of it. I hope that makes sense. I was going to cut the letters out and make a stencil but this was way easier!

For paint- I couldn't find a coral colour I liked so I bought a small tester can of house paint in the colour I wanted. For the starfish I used acrylic craft paint. Both of them worked great! Also some of the burlap was crinkled and bent so I just ironed the pieces before painting them on medium heat!

Thank you :) I will be doing this, wish me luck!!

I found my dress today!!! I really didn't think I would have that feeling about the one but I do and I couldn't be happier. We also found the bridesmaid dresses as well. I don't have a picture of the girls in it but the link is to the one on the actual Bill Levkoff site.

WOW Alley, congrats on finding the one, I love the flow of the dress! So stunning :)

  18. I also made a Burlap Banner this weekend. I had planned on buying one off Etsy and then realized I could probably make it for much cheaper. I bought burlap for about 1.45$ and I already had the paint, so this cost me pretty much nothing lol! I just cut the burlap into squares, printed off lettering that I liked (same font that I used on my invitations) and then cut the letters into squares and placed them behind the burlap. I was able to see the outline of the letter through the burlap and painted over top of it! It was sooooo easy to do. All I have left to do is glue the twine to the back (which means finally buying a glue gun lol!). I am going to hang this on my Guest Book table (as I am sure you could have guessed). I also painted wooden letters which spell out L O V E for the table in the same colour. And will have a vase with some flowers and of course starfish. Also I am going to use a frame (probably with burlap as the background) and write out "Please Sign Our Guestbook". I am so excited to see how it all comes together but think it will look great! I found these awesome flowers at Winners which I am going to use for my centerpieces. I have decided to go with the glass vases instead of the coral one. What do you guys think? LL Set up for the head table plus the starfish and candles you can see below. LL The LOVE letters and the coral vase will be used on the guest book table. LL The unfinished burlap banner. Anyhow I am super excited with how everything is turning out and I am super impressed with how crafty I can be when I put my mind to it!
Everything looks fabulous! I am stealing the burlap "Guest Book" banner!!! Lol. Did you use stencils for the letters? And what kind of paint? Thank you :)
