  1. OMG information?! So it DOES exist now....! If you wouldn't mind, is there anyway you could forward me that information? I've been anxious to get SOME estimate of a budget for this thing (we really want to do a trash the dress shoot, but dont have any idea what will be left - if any- now that things have changed so much for 2013) THANK YOU! [email protected] Someone just replied to my post saying she was able to pick the Tucan Beach, so I'm assuming there are choices....just not sure how to find out? I have a map of the grounds and there aren't any specific areas on the beach with names....
  2. I'm mostly concerned about their add-on packages, and what they will quote for table setup on the beach. I think its $13 a person now, but dont know if that will increase? And if prices for horse drawn carriage, etc will go up. i have their new colin cowie wedding sales guide but that's all ive been able to get my hands on.....so far!
  3. Thanks for the feedback about the 2013 prices ladies. Through my travel agent I've reserved my DATE but we are still arguing about the time since Beatrice only gave my TA a verbal confirmation and left before replying to my TA's request for confirmation in writing. I have no idea how to go about getting things reserved no because I'm so far out I dont know who will talk to me....I've asked for a contract but apparently they dont do those any more? was anyone else told the same thing? I specifically asked since I already booked if I could get 2012 prices, not only for affordability but to also be able to start planning and my TA and I were specifically told no by several people. They response was no bc apparently they are changing what they offer for 2013 for add-ons (I'm hoping that doesn't mean they are discontinuing the horse drawn carriage and stuff like that!) Anyways, I'm going to keep calling until I get SOME information, but was just wanting to make sure other 2013 brides were being told the same thing. For brides that had their ceremony on the beach (like feet in sand!) were you able to pick a location on the beach, or do they just have a specific spot that you automatically get?
  4. I know this forum is technically for 2012 brides, but its such a fabulous source of info i'm assuming there are 2013 brides following this thread as well! Have any of you received pricing info for 2013? I keep calling Palace Resorts and they keep telling me they will be released "this week or next". I know we have a bit of time to plan, but with all the price changes I've been reading on here I'm scared my tentative budget/plans may be blown out of the water with all of their new fees....I was also warned they might be getting rid of some add-ons, but not sure which ones. Thanks!
  5. has anyone received the 2013 pricing packages yet? I keep calling and they keep saying it will be released in "the next week or so". I know we have a little big of time to go, but I am anxious to start budgeting!
  6. i love the welcome booklet! What type of paper did you use?
  7. Also, when I was reading through the DIY threads on this someone wrote that they also used sand from the beach but forgot there are sometimes chunks of rocks and shells....so her sand got clogged going in. Just a heads up, maybe strain it or something before the ceremony?
  8. That is RIDICULOUS! WHAT set-up?! We're also going to have my FI's brother-in-law officiate, so there is literally NOTHING extra for them to do. And our ceremony is on the beach, so it's not like there is any extra clean up if we spill! well, I'll definitely ask about it, but if I hear the same thing, I think I'm just going to ask the FI's bro-in-law to take it up with him? Thanks for the response ladies! CafeDelMar21, I am (was?) planning on a DIY sand frame, will you keep me posted on how yours turns out?
  9. Hi Ladies, Did anyone do/is planning on doing a sand ceremony? We're trying to decide if we want to do one. I've heard it is a pain flying back with it because the sand shifts? Do you know if the MP offers anything for the sand ceremony or do we have to bring everything with us? We are doing a symbolic ceremony. Thanks!
  10. We're planning on having our ceremony on the beach....are there any options for beach locations??? Or do they just find you a place? We're still debating on whether or not to have the reception on the beach (knowing we have to pay a per person fee for the setup) or just go with one of the patios that overlook the beach. Any suggestions? I have the map of the resort, but dont see any "wedding spots" on it.... Also, as embarrassed as I am to admit I've been watching it, has anyone seen "Dont Be Tardy For The Wedding?" Colin Cowie is the wedding planner!!!
  11. Soon2bMrsT - I love your colors! Question, did they include a mic and speakers in the package? I've heard its really windy on the beach, and guests in the past have had problems hearing the vows and such. Also, how did the beach look? Was there a lot of seaweed like people have mentioned?
  12. FutureRN2011- What time did your ceremony start? It looks like you got some great pics with full sun and then with it setting...? Am trying to decide what time we should start, debating between 5pm and 6. Thanks!
  13. These are great! Am getting ready to make my own and order for paperandmore.....question, do you think the "text" paper was thick enough for the tickets? Most of the ink I'm using it just black and I'd prefer to do it at home if possible....Thanks!
  14. Sarah, thanks for the response about the resort credits (yay!) and all the info! And thanks to all the other brides' comments, you guys are amazing and CONGRATS!
  15. ladydi1844 - does that mean that you CAN use other people's credits? My FI and I are going to use all of our credits for the wedding package and wont have any left over for things like the spa/golf....I know there is a limit for those things per room, but let's say my parents didn't go golfing but booked an appointment for my FI under their points...does it work that way? I've been to other palace resorts before, and i MIGHT remember they check the braclet number to the reservation? But I really don't remember... any help would be great Thanks!
  16. Hey Ladies, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up for those of you who may be mailing unusual objects via the US Postal Service. I mailed my save the date luggage tags (posted earlier in this thread) in a normal Size 10 Envelope (basic envelope). Because it was rigid (when you felt it it wasn’t smooth) and BARELY too thick (tech. has to be under 1/4in, which it was, but because it didn’t EASILY fit through, it was “too thickâ€) I am now facing some issues. I checked several different post offices and mailing option and found out that on average, it would cost me about $1.60-$1.80 to mail an envelope with two luggage tags in them. After standing in line for over an hour, when it was finally my turn, the clerk told me it would be $1.05/envelope. I asked him to double check because I was sure it would be more and he told me he promised it would be fine. Well I didn’t believe him so asked another person who was working there what she thought, and she also agreed with the guy. So I paid what they quoted me, and gave them to the clerk, all wrapped up together, and reminded him it was for my wedding, and to please make sure they got where they needed to go ok. WELL, 3 days later I check my mailbox and about 1/3 of them have been returned to me because of insufficient funds. They envelopes, btw, were COMPLETELY ruined, written all over with in red ink, USPS stickers all on them. When I went to the post office to resend the ones I had received back, I asked what happened to the other ones. Well, there was a 50% chance they’d be delivered fine, and a 50% chance they’d be delivered with a note DEMANDING MY GUESTS PAY THE 90 CENT DIFFERENCE TO GET THEIR STD! I am SO frustrated and embarrassed. I called the manager at the location where the issue happened and she apologized but said this is a COMMON ISSUE. She suggest that in the future I handle it the same way (tell the clerk it’s a special mailing and wrap them together) but then additionally ask for a manager to approve how much you are being charged and then write a note and attach it to the bundle you are trying to mail….has ANYONE EVER HEARD OF THIS STEP BEFORE? Apparently there are several different people who deal with the mail after you pay for it, and they can decide if additional postage is needed.... Anyways, I know most of you are past the point of sending stuff through the mail, but I thought I would put this out there anyways to hopefully save anyone from the humiliation of needing your guests to pay for their own STDs. I quickly wrote an email to everyone to let them know what had happened and that it was no way expected, and to please ignore a request for additional payment and to just email me. I’m just going to end up resending them with the original postage I had planned on using. I’m going to TRY and see if the post office will reimburse me for the ones they send in error, but I’m not very hopeful about that…. Good thing we have plenty of extra STDs but I'm so annoyed because I thought I had crossed that item off my list, and so embarrassed that the first thing most people will see for my wedding is a request for payment....especially when asking them to come to a destination wedding is more expensive than a traditional wedding
  17. OMG nsg4729 you are AMAZING! THANK YOU THANK YOU for the information. It's a little embarrassing how excited I get finding out more about this process, but I am a planning freak, so really appreciate it. When is your wedding? I keep hearing from my TA that they aren't releasing any 2013 pricing information, which is making it very difficult to start budgeting ANYTHING! Thanks again!
  18. Hello, So I've officially had my first "miscommunication" with the MP. I supposedly had my date and time (5pm) confirmed almost two months ago, and I called the Miami office today about something else, and when they looked me up in the system, said, "oh yes, ceremony at 6pm"...I said, uh, no, 5pm and she said it was already booked by someone else! She also said that 6pm is the most requested time slot by brides.....does anyone know if this is true or is she just trying to appease me? Sunset is at 7:06 that night, so I'm worried with "Mexican Time" a 6pm ceremony isn't going to start exactly at 6 and we are going to lose all of our sunlight for pictures! Any thoughts? Also, I was one of the brides assigned Beatrice before she left. The Miami office said my new WC is going to be Juana, and she's supposedly supposed to call me tomorrow... (which is exactly 1 year from my wedding date, so I will be SHOCKED if she actually does). Anyone know anything about Juana? Thanks again!!!
  19. Mrs. Arnote the pics look amazing! Can't wait to read all about it! Quick question for you....if the wind is really as bad as everyone says, should we maybe change our "on the beach" wedding plans? We were hoping to have the ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner recepetion on the beach....! Also, my TA just told me yesterday that she has had a few brides convince the wedding coordinators on location to honor their booked guests, even if it was booked through a different TA. I have no PERSONAL experience with this...and that would be hoping for a lot at the last minute, but if you are one of the brides that are really close to their nightly room count, just like everything else with the MP, you might as well ask!!! Good luck!
  20. Also, quick question that I'm hoping someone will know the answer to! I've been to the Palace Resorts twice before and one of the best parts are the free resort credits you get! We are actually going to be using all of ours towards a wedding package, so wont have any to have fun with during the trip....does anyone know if you can "share" points? Like if my parents don't want to go to the spa, can they set up an appointment and gift it to us? I think I remember they actually check the number on your bracelets when you show them your yellow paper, but I can't remember for sure, or if there were any rules again sharing....Thanks!
  21. Golf Tee Time Contact : Dai Alfredo Jimenez Herrera, [email protected] I have used this contact at all, but as I go through this forum I have my "Master Spreadsheet" up and have logged useful contacts, link and companies on there. Please let me know if this is a good one
  22. Probably a stupid question, but what is "bumping"? Also, I just started posting and some of my comments have been held for moderation...about how long till they will be posted? Thanks! I LOVE this website and am super addicted
  23. AlmostMrsJRF - honestly the only thing I think you're crazy about is keeping them apart of your wedding party. Seriously? After you told them they were the most stressful part of the wedding process they should have realized how selfish and redic they were being. If the dresses being the same are important to you, on YOUR day, then it's not bridezilla-ish to ask them to wear what you want. I don't think it will ruin your day if the dresses don't match, but I don't understand why they are making it such a big deal. I personally would ask them all to happy hour, and let them know that you care about them all (I'm assuming you must REALLY love these girls to be putting up with all this crap) BUT, this is YOUR day, and you want your vision to happen. If they don't like the dresses you decided on, fine - they are still more than welcome to attend the wedding, as regular guests. No one is forcing them to be bridesmaids, and if they can't support your decision on a DRESS, then maybe they are better off not standing up there with you anyways. This is probably really harsh, I just dont understand what type of friends would knowingly stress you out over a dress. I have several hideous bridesmaid dresses hidden in my closest that i paid waay to much for, and will never wear again, but it is a small price to pay for being a part of such a special day for close friends. Hope this helps!
