  1. Hello ladies!!! I need you HELP once again I am looking to order those sunglasses that look like raybans but in 3 different colours (red, blue and yellow). Reason being this is the way to distinguish people's menu options at the reception table but also acts as their wedding favour. I also would like to get them personalized with our names and wedding date on one side. I will probably need about 40-50 of them for the wedding since that's about how many guests I expect to have coming. Here is a picture of what I am looking for just in case: Does anyone know where in Ontario or Canada in general I can make an order like this? Please let me know if you can help out! Thanks.

  3. Try Express. My fiance had to buy a shirt for our friend's wedding there and they have a few options....
  4. I'm not doing flowers. What I decided to do instead was get a real touch flower bouquet with seashells and then for my girls I got them a clutch that has a wristlet and flower that they can hold onto as they walk down the aisle. As for the cake, I think we are just going to go with a simple one tiered cake that comes with our package. Nothing fancy...and then just have our cake topper. Most people probably won't eat it since they will be so full from the dinner/ We decided not to spend the money on a DJ as it seems a but much for only a few hours. We discovered this iPhone app called My Wedding DJ. You should look into it as an option. You pick yuor playlist for all the parts in the wedding (dinner, walking down the aisle, bouquet toss, etc.) and it fades between songs, pauses where you want it and you can even "take requests" and add other songs that your guests want to hear at the same time. I have to play around with it but I've heard it's great. We are getting married at the gazebo. As much as the chapel is beautiful, we don't want to have a mass as not everyone in my group is Catholic. We also decided to go with the Villas Terrace. Originally we liked the area by the gazebo but then I want to have a long table for the reception instead of grouped tables. The terrace has enough space for us to do that. Plus it's a little bit more secluded and has a nice view as well.
  5. @ncalvar I'm pretty much set I think. I just have to get there to see how all will flow there. I have to submit my menu choices still. Other than that...unless I am forgetting things, I am good to go for what's required there. Now I just have to get sorted out with the projects that I have to work on here for the wedding. How is your planning going? How did you find it?
  6. Thanks for the review Jazzy! Looked like an amazing time. Can I ask, did they charge you for the decor setup? And did you take pictures on the beach for your trash the dress? I'm wondering if they are going to say anything about charging my friend who is my photographer to pay a vendor fee if I do that.
  7. Emily11386.... I would say better play it safe than be sorry. I don't know how strict the resort is, but it seems like they charge fees for every little thing and if you get caught, and it's not in your budget to spend the 350 vendor fee, don't do it. It might be suspect if they show up the day of the wedding with a day pass and then aren't there during the ceremony. And I don't know how often the wedding coordinator would pop up into your room during the day, but I would assume she would be around for you the entire time. If it were me, I would make due with the resort's salon if you are ok with that...or get a friend to do your hair and makeup. I'm a hair and makeup artist and I am thinking I will be doing my own unfortunately...I'd rather get pampered the day of, but I don't trust just anyone with my hair! And I'd rather just save the money that I would spend for my makeup to go towards something else. Catish11 - unfortunately, 2 of my bridesmaids live in Dubai and they don't have a David's Bridal there I'm sure they will be able to find something and make it work! And yes we did get very lucky with the price of our tickets for the the travel package!
  8. Well my girls are all over the world, there are only 2 here in Canada, so I don't know how to help them out. I told them if they don't see anything in the stores that they would have better luck buying it online....hope so.... my one girlfriend managed to find something online so I'm sure it will all work out. We looked around for rates a little more than a year before the actual date of our wedding...because of that, we managed to get the price of the travel package $200 cheaper, but you have to pay your final payment sooner. Unlike if you booked under a year from the date of your wedding...then you pay the final payment 75 days or a month prior to the date of the trip. Our friends wedding in December in Punta Cana is $1520...we managed to get ours for $1330! You should inquire with your travel agent depending on when your wedding is, you might be able to take advantage of that discount!
  9. Pretty much in the same boat as you. I will be working on our invitations after September (my friends wedding) and focus on small details. There really isn't much to do at this point. My girls are having issues finding their dresses for the wedding. I told them they can pick any dress they like. as long as it's in a Sunshine yellow....any style they can choose. Our final payment for the trip is in September too because we did an early booking bonus. There's just a few small things here and there that need to get sorted out...other than, all set to go!
  10. Aww you guys look amazing, Jazzy! Can't wait to hear your experience! Love your bouquet by the way!
  11. Pretty quiet on my end these days in the planning process. Had ruffled up a few feathers to get what I wanted but now that I got what I wanted, I am pretty content and quiet. I think more activity will happen closer to the date. Now....to focus on saving more money for the wedding! *sigh* lol...
  12. i fought and managed to get them to waive the fee. My photographer is also my friend who will be a guest for 7 days... I told them I wasn't paying him anything (they can't prove otherwise) and it wasn't fair for them to charge me the "outside vendor fee" when he isnt even and outside vendor but a paying guest. They told me as long as he doesn't have crazy equipment, its fine. He just has a camera with a bunch of different sizes of lenses...who doesnt have those these days...you dont have to be a professional photog anymore to own one of those!!
  13. We aren't really going all out with the flowers! I'd hate to spend all that money for something that will only be held for not even an hour and then chucked away once the party begins. I chose to go a different route and get myself a faux flower bouquet and get all my girls a little clutch that has a big flower in place of the bridesmaid bouquets. My fiance and his groomsmen don't even want it so that was easy enough! Honestly...do your thing and whats unique to you... you are already doing the "non-traditional" thing by having a destination wedding...so why do you have to splurge for flowers for every single person- sometimes it's most of the people who will be attending already!!! Might as well do something small and special for them instead of flowers.... just my thoughts.
  14. I am working with Elsa and had no issues. Make sure that you checked her when sending a message on basecamp. I had that happen and was wondering why she was ignoring me...turned out I didn't select her when sending the message over! Try that as she i pretty good at getting back to me. She told me the last time I spoke with her that she was busy with July brides....but she did respond when I had a question.
  15. I think they mentioned that Elizabeth would be assigned to me! That is great news! Thank you.
  16. I'd like to know details about how it all went down. Oh and did you bring down your own decor? If yes, how much did you have to pay for set up? What were the food options you selected?
  17. Hello fellow BDW brides! HELP PLEASE! I have a question for those of you that got married in Mexico or are getting married in Mexico. We are to be wed in Cancun next year and we wanted to release a single floating lantern to the sky at night during our reception. Our resort (Gran Caribe Real) has been giving me the run around by first saying that they are an eco friendly hotel and can't do it (however the lantern is biodegradeable). And then the manager said it would be possible during a webinar that was held with them. So I went back to our WC and she said it's possible but we have to obtain a $300 permit from the Mexican government in order to do so because the Yucatan penninsula is a protected area, etc. At this point I am not sure what to believe and I have seen other brides who got married in Mexico do this. So I wanted to hear from you guys to see if anyone has had this experience. We really want to release a lantern! So your feedback/help would be greatly appreciated
  18. Hi Canadian gals!!! I have a question for those of you that got married in Mexico or are getting married in Mexico. 19. Yea...just google excursions in Cancun, Mexico and you will get a bunch of things. I had to do that as some people who are looking into doing things was inquiring and I found so many things online. But I know that if you book the excursion through the resort you can get it for a lot cheaper, especially if you have a big group. I wouldn't do it in advance.... since you're new to this, that's the best advice I can give you. The resort usually offers the same or similar excursions from what you will see online.
  20. We are thinking to take people on an excursion. Something to do away from the resort and have some fun... maybe one of the cave/ziplining things.... Since we will already be doing a sit down dinner for the wedding day, why not step out and have some fun with everyone?
  21. I know... the wedding coordinator from the resort hasn;t been the best person to work with so far. She doesn't budge and sometimes she goes around in circles when she answers me. But my travel agent has done such a great job of taking care of things when I don't like how it's going. She doesn't want the bride to stress which is nice. Definitely the best decision I have made so far in the destination weddng planning. We've picked colours for our theme and we've decided we are going to make our invitations... we shall see how that goes - found a great paper company here in Ontario. Still have to get out Save the Dates from my friend who designed them for us. Wedding website is up and running - I had fun with that. The major decisions are all done I think. We've picked and put deposits down on our resort, decided which travel agent we want, what decor we are going with and who we will invite. Oh I have my dress already picked out and my shoes. I wanted to get as much of the big expenses out of the way because we bought a house and that is coming up. So the plannign is on hold for now since my focus is on that. Really if you think about it... it's not as much work as an at home wedding. It pretty much cuts our work and cost, in half - cost maybe more! Try not to stress too much. We've got lots of time! Just take is one step at a time....
  22. Hi there, Can I ask how much you had to pay at the location where you did the cenote shoot? Not your photographer, just to have the session at the cenote location...we plan to do that as well. Nice pics btw!
  23. It has it's ups and downs... mostly the communication barrier. But I think everything will work out just fine in the end. We have a great travel agent on our side so that helps. How about for you?
