  1. Okay, I guess that squashes that idea! Too loud wouldn't be a good thing. It may be good for after the reception dinner I guess we'll do one of the lobby bars. I appreciate the info. Jess, Yesenia did send me the contact info for the spa/salon. Do you think it would be too early to book the apts now? I read on here somewhere that the salon and spa tend to book up quickly because of the resort dollars. And I read on their website recently that they are now allowing guests to use all of their resort dollars on spa services. I'm thinking that will increase the difficulty of booking an apt. Do either of you remember how long it took them to do your hair and make-up? Do they come to your room to do this or do you have to go to the salon? Ceremony is at 4p.m. and it's only going to be my sister and I having hair and make-up done. I don't want to book them too early and sit around all done up.
  2. I received the spa and salon services price list today. If you're interested I will post them on here. I asked if the bridal party and bride could use resort dollars towards hair and make-up and was told you could. I also asked if the vacation dollars were a dollar to dollar match and they are! Does anyone know a good place to have a welcome cocktail hour? I don't want to use my cocktail hour for the welcome party so I thought we could just all meet up somewhere and a couple of drinks. I read on-line that the martini bar serves light snacks. I figure we could just order snacks from wherever we met up. I want to save the private event cocktail hour for after the ceremony.
  3. I hear ya! Thanks for the advice about extending the time on the group link. I'll have to e-mail Yesenia. I think she's great. So far we only have 11 coming but so many we haven't heard from still. I was really hoping that I would get more people coming but I'm trying not to be upset and just roll with it. But I will admit that when I see pics of others weddings and they had such a great attendance, I do get a little envious. Just started with the OOT bags. Picked up a few extras just in case. I'm not a last minute person so it's just killing me! I have done some things though from looking at pics from Jess's cocktail party. I noticed that they just put white table clothes over the tables at the cocktail reception so I ordered fuschia organza table runners off of e-bay for $15. free ship for 10 of them. It looked like in the pics that they put up 5 tables. Then I figured we could use the others somewhere during our activities. I've been diy-ing a lot too for our decorations and such. Don't want to bore you with the details unless you're interested. I would love to hear what you plan on doing for your decorations and such though. Any ideas I can get the better. I've been reading away too! And I have gotten a lot of ideas. We chose the Emerald Package and I'm only have my sister stand for me. She's going to be wearing a rose petal pink colored dress. I think we're going to try and get the Saxophone player if we can. If not we'll go with the harp. The other thing that worries me a bit, is that I don't want to be stuck doing photos during my cocktail party. I really want to be at my cocktail party! I'm going to try and find out how much time they take doing photos after ceremony and plan my cocktail party accordingly. I have sooo many questions. I just wish the coordinator would touch base.

  5. My mom just asked me this morning if they do a rehearsal the day before the ceremony. I told her I didn't have a clue. She would like for us to put together a rehearsal dinner if they do. Did you do a rehearsal? If so, what time did you do it? Thanks

  7. Do you know if they do a rehearsal the day before? Not sure if I should plan a rehearsal dinner. There's a thread on here called Aventura Spa Palace and I've been chatted with a couple of women who have recently married there and they've been so helpful. There pics are great too that they've shared. You should check it out.

  10. Welcome, I'm new to the site as well. The brides on here are great and have helped soooo much! I just wanted to pop a quick note to you to tell you that we stayed at the Grand Princess last May and it was a great vacation and at a great price! We got a swim up room and it was the best ever!!! We were actually in the main pool and the bar was right across from our room. Along with the pool DJ. We loved being in all the action but they have many swim up rooms that are more private and quiet. We actually decided to marry in Mexico after witnessing several weddings while at Princess. They have a private beach club there called Chill Out and you can reserve that area for your ceremony and reception or just have your ceremony there. If I chose Princess for my wedding I would have had the ceremony and reception there. Guest can pay $10 per day per person to hang out there for the day. We did this for several days. They give you great wait service and bring you snacks! Come evening guests have to clear out for private events. Good luck with whatever you decide to do! We chose to marry at Aventura Spa/Cove Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Let me know if you have any questions regarding Princess.
  11. I searched and searched for cake toppers on-line for my Mexico wedding and found nothing that really appealed to me. So I decided to take matters into my own hands! When we were in Mexico this past Nov. I purchased a small sombrero at one of the gift shops. I then purchased rhinestones. (They're pink, but in the pictures they look clear) After a few hours of "blinging" I had the cake topper of my choice. It looks so much nicer in person, but I thought I would share the idea with everyone.
  12. I went to Dollar Tree today to find items to put into our OOT bags. Bags that I haven't bought yet, because I've been scouring to find them on the cheap without them looking cheap! We ended up finding the cutest bag! I just loved them. I thought they were the perfect size to fit our items and for people to take them to the pool or beach with their sunscreen and a book or two. They happened to be on sale for .25 cents each!!! They also have two nice sized gusseted pockets in the front. I'll most likely put the welcome letter and the welcome cocktail party invite in the pockets. The bags are about 12x8 We also purchased beach bags for $1, not as pretty but very functional. Big so you can put a couple towels in it. I decided to fold them in half and roll them up and tie them with a ribbon with a tag attached, that will read something along the lines of. For you to take a towel or two. Any other wording suggestions for this would be great. They fit perfect in the smaller bag and plenty of room for the other items we purchased. Thought I would share, in case you haven't bought your bags to check your local Dollar Tree store first.
  13. We've heard it too! First it was the safety issue and now it's the airfare. Airfare has sky rocketed to Mexico in the last few weeks! My Aunt Grace and Uncle Stewart were the first to book their trip. They're in their late 70's. Apparently, she has been taking a lot of flack from some of my family members because of the safety factor. She said to me, I wish they would just say that they don't want to go instead of using the whole safety thing and trying to make me feel like an idiot because I am going. I can't help but be a little bummed because I was hoping to have more come than what appears to be coming. We really have a beautiful wedding planned. We've been to Mexico soooo many times and the place just means so much to us. We always have the best time while on vacation there. It only made sense to us to want to be married there too.
  14. Thanks for sharing your photos! I'm thinking of doing the Pandero for the cocktail party because I too went and bought paper lanterns! I wonder if they could find a way to hang them up on the cove terrace. I also made large tissue pom poms. I won't fluff them till we get there though. Now that I'm down to the last 3 months I've really been trying to get everything in order! I'm so overwhelmed. Sometimes, I can't believe I'm doing this. But I am starting to get really excited. And seeing your photos and jscy10's photos have been a real help. I can't thank you both enough. We too are planning on either hiring the Mexican Trio or the Mariachi Band. Is there a particular reason you went with the Mexican Trio instead of the Mariachi Band? Also, when did you ladies hear from the site coordinator? And and maybe you can help me with this as well...I purchased the Emerald Collection and I'm thinking both of you purchased a collection as well since I see in the pics, the carriage and the harp player. I was reading in one of the post that you had to pick for song selections for the ceremony. Procession, ceremony, toast and exit. If this is the case when does the musician play? Or can you have a procession song and have the musician play for the rest of it. Do either of you know how this works? I'm making myself sick trying to pick out 4 songs! Urggg. We went shopping for hours today to purchase items for our OOT bags. I scored big time at The Dollar Store for my bags! .25 cents per bag! Yes you read right and they're are so not cheapy looking. We also bought beach bags for $1. each. I'm going to roll them up and tie them with a ribbon and put them in the other bags. They also have two pockets in the front so I can put the welcome letter in it. Thanks so much and if you think there's anything else I should know please share!!
  15. Thanks so much for sharing! I've been searching for Koozies and these are great and at a great price! We're getting married on 5/3/12 too!!! Good luck to you!
  16. Love them! I just started putting together our OOT bags. These are a great idea I spent the day making the Wedding Survival Kits to put in our bags. E-bay here I come again!
  17. Sorry to keep bugging you, but I do have another question. At your cocktail party, do they set up a bar or do they just have wait service for drinks? Thanks!!
  18. Thanks so much for sharing your pics! You looked so beautiful and I love your gown!! What gazebo did you have your ceremony at? And what area did you have your cocktail party? It looked like the pandero, but without the wood slats on the top. I was planning on having our cocktail party at the pandero because I too have the paper lanterns to hang. I'm thinking we're going to have about the same amount of guests that you did. I can't thank you enough for the Mundaco side patio advice! I'm definitely going to see if I can secure that area!! I was hoping that I would be able to have one long table like you did and now it seems that I can You pics helped more than you know! I'm going crazy trying to figure out what decorations and such and having a visual helps so much! Again, thank you and your wedding looked perfect!
  19. Thanks so much for the advice regarding the Mundaca Steakhouse! That will save us a ton of money not having a private function. I really wanted to eat outdoors for dinner. And it's close to the ceremony site. I really appreciate it!
  20. We're getting married on the Cove side but staying on the Spa side. Have you heard from the on-site wedding coordinator yet? I have sooo many questions! And by the looks of the rsvp's coming in we are going to have a much smaller group than anticipated. We were supposed to do a site inspection in Nov but had to cancel. Bummer!
  21. Hello All, I'm new to this site! I'm getting married at the Spa/Cove Palace on May 3rd 2012. I starting to get nervous and a little disappointed with the lack of response for our wedding. I sent out STD's about 9 months ago and then sent formal invitations at 8 months with a rsvp card for response by Feb. 1st. Last Friday, I sent out cute reminder cards. We still have 28 invites of people who haven't responded at all. I only have 4 people who have actually booked. 8 people who have said they're coming but who haven't booked yet. Rooms are only being held until Feb 28th. And handful on Nays. But 28 who I haven't heard from at all! This is changing my whole thought of what my wedding is actually going to be and now I don't think we should do a reception but just the dinner that's in the package! What has been your responses for your DW? Is anyone else going through this? We knew that when we did this that a lot of people wouldn't be able to come, but I was hoping for more.
  22. Hello, I was just reading your post and I'm about to book my wedding with them for next spring. Do you have any pointers from what you've learned so far by planning your wedding? Your big day is coming soon, I wish you all the best! Tammy
